  1. Ok can you explain how that relates to bariatric surgery and vitamin issues? Is there any studies on that? You said it is your belief, but can you relate that to a specific issue? Sleeve surgeries are not going to have the vitamin issues, and I've seen one study that shows 2 years out, the intestines compensate for the vitamin issues. If you can help with some research, that would be a lot more helpful.
  2. Have some. Carbs are constantly listed as the devil, but you shouldn't cut out whole food groups. Corn and actually potatoes that aren't fried aren't that bad. If you look at vegetarians and vegans, all I know are healthy, they aren't obese or so, and get their protein.
  3. Did you ask your doc if you should be taken them this soon after surgery?
  4. I used to race. Did you find a local running club? They can help. You can look on the web for suggestions. All those can supplment what you have. Best of luck! You can do this.
  5. TPN

swimbikerun replied to Raychel's topic in Food and Nutrition
I was TPN for a bit but that was due to other circumstances. I do have problems but nowhere near as tough. I don't know what to tell you.
  6. Amazing. There are those of us with GP who got the sleeve to fix the GP who aren't cured and a bunch who are. We're still alive. Yes I'm more complicated and have problems, but it isn't a life stopage issue unless your mind/attitude does it.
  7. I have gastroparesis. Had it for years before the sleeve. It came back and comes back wiht a vengance. It is what it is.
  8. That's interesting. I've heard that if you are told someone has had no leaks, they're lying to you or they don't treat them.
  9. As one who has been burned and suffering the problems of getting burned by their surgeon, there are questions you can ask about them to find something more about their personalities. Errors, how they solve them, etc are some of the biggest ones. Talk to people that had not so positive experiences, and what their rates are of dealing with all sorts of oddball problems.
  10. Whatever you can take and helps you. Doesn't matter how you get it in. Best of luck!
  11. Nothing wrong with that. We can all learn and if you have this posted, people can search and find it. It can help others. Thanks for posting.
  12. Talk to your doc. They have their own views on it that would be best served by asking them.
  13. I prefer to warn people about investigating their surgeon very, very, carefully. Mine did a number of things because he had his own biases and didn't check or send me to someone and blew me off when I asked if the gastroparesis could have been causing my problems after surgery. I live in Hampton Roads area.
  14. I have gastroparesis and they use the bariatric surgeries for them. I have neuropathies, etc. because of when I get food in, what, etc. I still have the gastroparesis, developed reflux/GERD and IBS. It happens. You can still live, you just might be visiting the doctor more than you thought and eating differently but its survivable.
  15. Red meat, fair amount of dairy, lots of things. As long as I am not on a PICC line, midline or anything but an occasional banana bag or fluids, I'm good with it.
  16. Have you done the usual Vega, Sun Warrior, Jay Rob, etc?
  17. I totally agree with you Alex. 110%.
  18. 6 days post surgery? Please call your surgeon.
  19. You keep calling. Use the patient portal if they have one. This soon out after surgery if a doctors' office isn't getting back to you, they should be reported as many places as possible. This is not the time to be using a forum where any one and everyone can give advice that may or may not be what your surgeons office does.
  20. You need to be talking to your docs office.
  21. Did a 10K 3 weeks and 1 day after surgery. Released to swim 2 days short of a month.
  22. As someone who had a surgeon problem, I can understand and commiserate well. I am so very sorry about the personalities.
  23. Hmmm. It depends on the food. If it is salad or a sandwich I load veggies and don't care. Anything else, I make sure to keep it to once a day. That way I can't eat enough for it to be a problem.
