  1. Hmmm. I would want to see an EGD, maybe a barium swallow. Go from there. Also there are types of PPI's. Did you try just one or both?
  2. Ooops ... um ... sorry. I swam masters, competitively, so I use some of the lingo without thinking. You do work in the pool but you cross train more so than other sports. The weights, machines, cardio, etc. all that is referred to as dry land work. It helps to develop the muscles of the body, especially your core muscles. For instance, you would have a period where you ran up/down stairs, hopped, jumped, etc. and then did things with the rope or the arms machine. You would do sets in the pool (speed work, distance work, work with the "toys"). You could then either do nothing or go back out and do some of the other. Push ups, sit ups, crunches, obliques, the whole deal.
  3. You don't have one nearby? Even when the pool is closed, the rec centers nearby are open. Have you done dryland work? Even lightly? You'd be able to just have the resistance now. Depending on how well you swim and what your stroke is, long course or short. Its short course until late spring/summer next year.
  4. Yes yes yes. Water water water. I could live in the water. Swimming is a good friend. Not only is it a good overall workout but the cardio works everything. It will also help not being so hard on the knees with the weight.
  5. He's nailed someone else. This person has a disaster of a GI tract and he operated. She's having to go out of town because everyone else wont touch her - meaning they're afraid to because they know. Guys we need to really OUT doctors like this and the PATIENTS who support these docs. NO ONE deserves this.
  6. Garden of Life is good. I've done it before. I think my only question is finding if there is good medical research for what a person is saying. Does it jibe also with known established processes? How/where we absorb different items in the intestinal track is somewhat set out but not all of it. If things don't follow logically with that, that is where you want to question. I was in groups years ago. People were taken by hocus pocus "treatments". The more you learn that is scientific based, medical based, the less doctors or any one else can take advantage of you. When someone does try to stiff you, you can call them out.
  7. THanks guys for mentioning this. I know one brand they had at WF, it was pricey also. They were wanting 2 a day. I want to know if my levels are low or if I am having signs/symptoms of low of that Vitamin. I'd rather target it because you can get problems from too much of a vitamin. I find that by fine tuning the food, I do pretty well. At least here are more options and I'll share them around.
  8. @@Trayjay33 I'm not trying to pump anything up but Williams Sonoma does give free "seminars" that are like an hour and those give you ideas. You can taste a number of things also. Not trying to move any one off, but there are also FB groups for different cuisines, and you can always use those. I've also gotten on some of the blogs and they give me ideas. That way you are not stuck for ideas and can flavor according to your tastes and pouch/sleeve, your wallet, etc.
  9. So so wonderful to see everyone getting out there and giving exercising a shot! Keep on posting gang!
  10. @VSGAnn2014 shouldn't we? Shouldn't we savor food more? Why the same old boring thing?
  11. Thank you! I am going to experiment ...
  12. @@Trayjay33, just so you know, here is how you work the demi glace (I know about the price). Take a tablespoon of the item and put it on a tray. You should get about 30 of them. Then on the cookie sheet/tray, freeze them and put them in a bag. Draw one out as you need one. That way you are talking it is much cheaper. You can try it with more things.
  13. The depth of flavor is tremendous for a tiny amount. There is a little bit of salt in there (I didn't know that until a while ago). Otherwise its just like the broth/stock reduced down. That's about the best way I can describe it. Its on their website, and I'm sure they have a list of their items.
  14. What about Williams Sonoma demi glaces?
  15. Please keep us updated on this. This sounds like a great thing.
  16. I gained muscle mass when I was swimming like a banshee. I was solid muscle and no fat. This was right after surgery.
  17. I can do chickpeas but not hummus. I can do a whole egg but not only egg whites. LOL.
  18. The attitude of doctors and their staff in regards to thinking that the only way to get Protein in is to kill a cow and that you don't count plant and other protein in your daily ration. I'm the opposite. I have problems with red meat, and then intolerances to dairy, nuts, tree nuts, fish and shellfish. They added gluten to that but I only seem to blow up like a balloon about 1/2 the time (which is probably why they said bug off it LOL). I'm glad you are going to keep this route. To be honest, I'm not much into cooked veggies (broccoli, peas, corn, some stuff) but I'm mostly a salad eater. People are amazed at how and what I have into a salad. I've done black bean quesadillas, tomato and asparagus salad.
  19. You didn't. There is a problem with the forum. Its based on # of posts not your year.
  20. If you don't want "judgement", what did you ask us to do but judge the foods you eat, the exercise or lack thereof? No one here wants what is bad for you but we're telling you, like your surgeons' office should do, a counselor should do, the same things that you will pay them for. They're going to ask why you aren't following them or trying them. I have to reiterate what others said. I agree that while it seems harsh to you, they are asking you the same questions any counselor or your surgeons' office or dietician is going to do. You know the behaviors, you've stated them. What about trying 5:2 or going back to your original diet? What about exercise?
  21. I don't bash banders. I only state the experience I've seen (both good and bad) for bands. I have the research (even if it is older, etc.). I also support people going to Mexico. I would want people to look at me as a person, who had WLS, and support me no matter what their surgery or gender, political association, etc. I'd do the same for them as far as I can. I've had complications. I had a surgeon who didn't treat me as I would have expected, according to research. He put some major things in my records, got care denied for me, has talked negatively about me to others so that they would not want to treat me. He told me if I didn't do what he said, he would put it in my records, and that other doctors would see it and wonder why. I had called his office trying to get his nurse to ask if he was going to be in the office on a particular day, as I was going to make him a 3D lifesized doctor bag cake & wanted to give it to him. I was trying to hide the purpose and get the nurse quickly without him noticing. She promised to keep quiet about it but not before he called me at home and chewed me out saying they paid enough attention to me and get to me when they can. I said nothing. He even put it in my records! Then when I gave him the cake, I said you chewed me out and didn't even apologize, this was for you. His response? Laughter. Yes laughter. Then he asked for the Gelatin flower we had created in one of my classes too. I would have gotten in some trouble with my church giving a married man a flower. So guys, how about we work together for all of us and make it against surgeons who treat people like this (I have more stories ...), drop their care, etc. I've seen a number of people who've had an interesting experience there. Please, let us "band" together against doctors like this. Isn't life hard enough with all of us after WLS that we need more? I've also got complications. It brings in a whole new meaning to support. I don't have care in the area. Please guys, can't we find common ground and accept each other no matter what the surgery is? We all wanted to lose weight (and I thought I'd lose my GP too ... ) so can we just go from there and accept and support? Lets not become ObesityHelp.com.
