  1. It is, but holy cow I've had some really close responses with the sleeve. My system is very very unpredictable. My surgeon indicated no one did with the sleeve. Guess what? Later they started saying in a few rsearch articles that it happens. I'm like oh yes it does! The memory of holding on to the fridge and being on the kitchen floor, the first time, I won't forget that one.
  2. It isn't a matter of IF you are going to make a mistake, it is WHEN. We all do it. Please don't beat yourself up. These things happen. I AM quite glad nothing happened though. Phew! Just be glad. Dumping experiences I would wish on no one.
  3. @ Mine also got high but on NO supplement. Suggest you have that followed as that *can* remotely be a sign of a blood cancer. As long as it goes down while off, good but otherwise ... I remember this because when mine was high, my doc at the time ignored it. Yes, the chance is remote but cancer of the skin, brain, kidney, prostate, spleen/pancreas, with masses of unknown origin and the like has been found in my family.
  4. You can add in more veggies. That's the only thing. 90% protein is a bit too much.
  5. Nope, studies have shown, forget it, the only way it gets off and stays off is with wls. Yeah, you won't miss it. Do you want 80% of stomach gone and your life back, doing all sorts of things that you didn't before, feel healthier, better, or do you want 80% of a gut? Does 80% of your gut matter to you compared to your life after? Or RNY, doesn't matter.
  6. I haven't noticed it when I've gotten it either.
  7. After the "care" I got in certain circumstances, I started to rock the boat. I wasn't getting better. I was just getting worse. When you hospitalize someone for malnutrition because "you are going to die" well maybe you should have taken out the gallbladder causing me pain so I didn't eat! WOW! Is that so hard to figure out or understand? Its garbage that like that sometimes you have to say hey. The option is to go back and find out is she for sure holding it up. If she is, I'd go for it because you have nothing to lose and by putting it IN WRITING you have shown that she has a reason to retaliate if she becomes a problem. Respect is earned. Not bestowed. A graduate degree, so what, lots of people have grad degrees. It doesn't make them God. I dang sure want to hear how "mommy issues" affect surgery. I dang sure want to know why and what proof she has it will interfere with surgery and the basis for that decision. In writing.
  8. @@africanviolet, maybe the reason I understand so very well is my surgeon had left MUTLIPLE notes about my pain and didn't operate. Like 8 months later, he had it in the medical record: "today she asked me why would I let her be in pain for so long". So ... very very different bent on the subject.
  9. I like to ask questions, which usually tends to get them mad but flushes out their biases and thinking, is asking how and why does this need to be taken care of before surgery and can you move it will make a difference in the long run by studies already done? Are you studying something like this or considering a paper? How many other surgeries have you stopped and what was the success rate of your treatment. When they are just "winging" it, you will know by the answers. That is one of the ways I could catch the doc I had. Some things just didn't add up. No offense to him but when its my butt and you are slamming me in the medical records, you better have a DOGGONE GOOD reason. @@swimbikerun - Thank you. My thinking exactly. :-(
  10. I would put my concerns in writing to the psychologist. The other doctor you are working with? Can she sign off on the paperwork? I would think so. Otherwise I want it all in writing and why. I can't see why "late night snacking" would make a difference, I think the vast majority of us have that. If so, it may be cured once you can't eat any more. I do think that sounds fishy. I mean "mommy issues". Can she clarify where in the medical literature this is an issue? I can't see that, nor can I see how the late night snacking, which is a big deal to all, is an issue to hold up surgery. I would think that could be done after the surgery or even right now during. You have 1-2 months to work on it before surgery. Tend to agree with you.
  11. Protein does not equal meat. There are other ways of adding protein to the diet without meat. Count the protein you get in veggies also.
  12. You can return the favor by getting as healthy as possible, whether that is physical or mental matters not to me!!
  13. You earned them. Decent people here.
  14. Music to our ears!! Glad to know that people are on the mend or that they know there are places they can come where people can extend a hand to them and help.
  15. @@Ava324 did they give you any reason for that? I sort of like to know these things because if it is a freak occurance, that is one thing, but if you hear of several of it, it might be an issue. I do believe I've read somewhere (so do not quote me on this, don't know if it is research or one of boards) that there is a sewing technique that can be done to help stop kinks.
  16. I'm glad that it isn't on your. However ... I hope also that you do it for you. {{apologies to any one - religion comment}} I believe each person is made in the image of God, that He died for each person whether or not they accept that or not, and the fact He thought they were worth it, means their worth it to others. Although I have to admit, some days people like Charlie Manson give me pause for thought. hee hee
  17. Not just that, but those of us with issues didn't get treated like jerks. I've had out and out hostility, banning, blocking, being followed, etc. Basically told to shut up so people would get surgery, don't scare them off. Alex has never done that. We're allowed to take honest looks at what happens and try to share wisdom learned so that others don't get what we did. I think that's a mature way to look at things, honest also. Not a lot of drama here either.
  18. Can I just send hugs and pats on the back, that I hope things get better soon. Congratulations for having the courage to take steps to try and alleviate the problem.
  19. We can hit everyone on the list here and see who will meet up for lunch.
  20. Well what about 2 meet ups and we can flash pix of them together? LOL. Or maybe farther out plan one in Richmond? I think that is a 2 hour drive for me, and probably should be for NoVA. Would we think about a meeting for the NOVA crowd and then the Willamsburg or Richmond crowd to Hampton Roads. PS If they're stationed down here, I am a native born Ptowner, lived there and in Chesapeake all my life. If I can help let me know. Although I do warn you - we're Coast Guard. LOL.
  21. @ThreeCrows Why don't we? After the holiday weekend? Next weekend - the 6th? Should we message people? Maybe a spot mid way between here and Williamsburg or do we want to see if the Richmond people want to meet - in Williamsburg maybe?
  22. @@Alex Brecher I had an experience on another "support" area. Seems someone wanted to blame me for problems from the surgery, etc. and basically said I should shut up and get over it. I've seen it even worse on Obesity Help. Never have I seen that attitude on here. Thank you for allowing us to speak openly and honestly about our experiences, good and bad. I appreciate the support - everyone - and being able to support back. Good doctors need to feel that they'll get the kudos that they deserve and people take note of problems (and I have a great set now) so this is a better experience for everyone. Thanks again Alex for putting this forum up and expanding it into a safe and comfortable place for everyone.
