Starting back to school. NERVOUS. Encouragement? Advice?
@@une nouvelle vie stay FAR FAR FAR away from those who say you are too old or want to put obstacles in your way. It takes courage and guts to start later. Last thing you need is people who don't encourage learning because it should occur every day of our lives. No matter whether or not that is book learning, people learning, or practice skills. Here is one for everyone to chuckle over. My parents knew I was pretty smart. I knew book learning. I made A's in physics, spent my freshman summer year getting an extra year of math (and no keep the comments off line please). They would also say the girl does not have enough common sense to come out of the rain. They were sort of worried about me going to college. I did a whole lot of learning my first year or so. More so in the people/practice dept. than any other. Now I'm the one depended on. Its not just book learning that is important, so don't let younger people who may discount your life skills, experiences, as not being useful. It just means they don't know what true learning is all about. {{hugs}} and let us know when you graduate.

Is strength training slowing my loss?
Keep working out. Something is better than nothing. Building muscle is only going to help you, not hurt you.

Meat tolerance
Now to try to convince some surgeons of that. They stress protein but what they mean is meat. How do vegetarians and vegans stay alive and healthy, the ones I know are. They are obviously getting protein in.

Starting back to school. NERVOUS. Encouragement? Advice?
@@une nouvelle vie My sister started out bits and here and there. She finally started getting down the wire with me going after my 2nd degree. It may have taken her 20 years, and she is in the same decade group you were when she finished. Our family would not sit with me at graduatin because I said I was going to whoop like it was the 2nd Coming for her. She is the eldest and helped out a lot, didn't hear her complain on it really, so she didn't get as much opportunity as others to go to college. So when the time came, I helped her with some classes because it meant a lot to me to see she got the degree. Yes, it was a 2 year but she conquered it. Please know that it doesn't matter the age. The ability to get back in the game and pick yourself up and start over takes courage that will serve you well. College requires a lot of personality changes that not everyone out of college can muster. Emotional intelligence has a lot to do with it.

Meat tolerance
I can do some chicken and some turkey. The rest, vegetarian. I do Protein drinks & powders, but I can manage 1.5 out of 2 eggs at a time (1 boiled, 1.5 scrambled which I reheat later on). I also eat Beans, chickpeas, peas, things that are highly protein based. No nuts, but that might be an option for you. My last memories of fish and red meat (several types) are about as positive as my ones of nuts. Its like sodas, after a while, its like whatever & you don't care if you eat it or not.

When were YOU allowed to go solid?
Someone would really have to be nailing the stomach 3x overtime to do that. You probably are a fast healer and it actually doesn't take that long to get everything together. Congrats! Sounds like you are doing fine!

How is everyone doing 3-5 years out?
Ouch! One, it probably has already hit her. You just can't see it and she's not being monitored. If she has osteoporosis I bet she has other issues behind the scenes. The body can make up for things but not forever.

Reversal for gastric sleeve?
@@Gladys62 If you need a ear to listen too, I will. I've been there. Even on the boards, I've found people to either say or give them impression that they had an easy/good time so any problems are your fault don't bother me. I don't mind putting up with people who have had problems or not, its just the ones who curse me out and start stuff behind my back that I have an issue with.

Biggest surprise/regrets after surgery?
@@Quest4TheNewMe I'm sorry. I understand what you mean. American culture nowadays is so much TMI, so much everything out there, that it makes it hard for people to simply want to get on with their lives.

Can I get a hug and maybe some guidance?
@@ilikecake2much I think the issue is whether or not you do your homework on the decision. I always advocate the surgery, even though the surgeon was/is a bigger issue than the problems from the surgery. I can deal with those, its just how he and the admin acted/treated me.

Reversal for gastric sleeve?
@Gladys62 I am relieved on that. The past memories I had with some "experiences" with my surgeon, I go into prayer/rub rabbits feet/cross fingers when I hear of people having problems. I've seen some interesting things go and it bothers me to know people are not treated well. I'm glad when they find those who have done good.

Ours did but once you look at the "whole picture" then you see its pretty much about money. Bariatric practices are 40-45% profit.

The more fit I get, the worse my skin looks?
I think that muscle and skin are 2 different things. I'm not sure who, how or where the statement that if we built up muscle it would help the skin. Skin isn't like muscle, they are different types of cells.
