  1. MoM is good too. Hmm. Iron pills (was mentioned before) can also do it.
  2. How much water are you drinking? and extra veggies. Its the fiber that are going to move things along.
  3. I had some pain with one of them. Just depends.
  4. Have they discussed a PICC line? Or doing something to check the causes?
  5. Yes. Both of them did not take up to 1.5 hours. My values were 12% & 11% so getting rid of the gallbladder (they used that to qualify me for surgery) and the pain was a blessing. I'm sorry, it was.
  6. Dub you are not a jerk. I agree with you. Big difference between someone weaving a little and were out celebrating the kids' graduation from high school or college, compared to what he did.
  7. What would work best is if we had something around the circumstances. The docs' only child got married or graduated from Harvard & were celebrating. Were they just .01 over the limit or .08? The problem with driving is that, gracious you should have enough sense by now not to drink and drive. That the medical community hides these things makes it worse. Cover ups. The "butt slapping" surgeon. Too many variables.
  8. Do steroids? That is one other thing that helps. I have kidney issues. Dehydration works some kidneys to the bone. What types of testing have they done?
  9. That surgery was easier than the sleeve. It was the anesthesia that threw me for loops and left me in the hospital. I had them say they never had someone come out like that. I have anesthesia problems, so if you don't, piece of cake.
  10. If it is, for new people, then maybe we need to report it? If you help someone, that is data that is important. If someone is a month out vs. one year out I would give different advice. That's why I'm sort of looking at that one thing as a guide to what I tell someone.
  11. I've had problems. They were helped by banana bag/fluid infusions, and jacking up the EMG's power to the point where I felt the after effects in my muscles for hours. Steroids have helped tremendously. Btw, my surgeon said the same thing. He was not correct, as there is literature about neuro problems after surgery. They just don't read the research.
  12. I've had some problems like that. Vitamin B 12 & 1 deficiencies and water issues. I've got other things but getting fluid/banana bags helped.
  13. Almost 10 months after sleeve, I had my gallbladder out. Much better - not the pain and the like problems.
  14. As they had you sign the document about complications and problems, sometimes things happen after surgery. My suggestion is to talk to your doctor again about your concerns. If it doesn't get better, get a second opinion. There are going to be many bumps in the road - this is a life long journey. Take one day at a time, don't rush things. Btw, your profile has you having surgery in Nov 99.
  15. It is also possible because they don't know how to do it, not enough experience, or its not $$$$ as good as the RNY.
  16. The last thing I said touching my lips was a krispy Kreme and Diet Dr. pepper.
  17. I actually had the bariatric surgeon give an RD recommend to a previous PCP. This person even admitted she knew nothing about it, no one in that group did. Considering what I said about the previous one, this doesn't surprise me. Like I said, the $$$ aren't in that.
  18. No, whatever I have put out there, I would think I remembered some things. The problem is that trying to get the surgery covered is more of an issue. That's where all the money is: the procedure itself. They don't seem to care about us afterwards unless its showing less hypertension, diabetes, so pay us for the surgery type of thing.
  19. Hmmm. Sounds like we need to do some work on rating nuts, psychologists, and support staff with the surgeons? That would be more helpful to know because the surgeon you see less than the support staff.
  20. I had my first nut asking the people for suggestions. So you can imagine from there. I did my own research and its been a lot better than what I paid for.
  21. Thanks B-52. I have a similar issue possibly.
  22. How much extra weight do you have to lose? 3500 calories = 1 pound. So 8 miles = 800 calories roughly. If you did that 1 time a day, that's 1 pound a week. Runners have more issues needing carbs than Protein. Getting in one extra shake is how many calories? That knocks down the rate above. I'm still not understanding why we aren't using the regular figures and seeing whether this is an issue more so than getting in fluids and then protein/veggies. Fat is going to be burned and that's what you want.
  23. If you jus tgot your surgery, why is there an issue? If you want to lose weight, just keep doing what you are doing. Get the protein in best you can.
  24. How about taking a look at the vegan and natural bodybuilders? They are able to do it without animal meat, so you should be able to also.
