  1. At some I will be getting the whole deal. If you don't like pain, don't get plastic surgery. They'll do what they can. However there is only so much you want at one time to recover.
  2. Whatever you can manage to get in, and keep in do so. I have several liquid meds to help me. Some times it helps and others it doesn't. You really have to take one day at a time. Other than that, its my church family. I'd be nowhere without their prayers.
  3. @@Gladys62 I have an image about an ex that I wish I could show you.
  4. Yes and I'm over 3 1/4 years out. I can feel for you. One day at a time. Keep on trying.
  5. I have found on multiple forums, people are relating to others so they get better and they rarely say don't get the surgery. Its get the surgery but here is what to look out for. The way it should be. I can't believe how many go through this with eyes wide shut. The doctors want the $$$, people want to be thin. They see the honeymoon, not the -1 honeymoon year rest of your life that you are going to have to work hard for. Not the problems that can happen years out. Be prepared. Know what you can do. Make your journey successful.
  6. That isn't negative. Telling the truth about your experiences is not that. You had a bad one. I also did but in a different way. We tell these things so others learn from our experiences. They don't get the same experience and exert pressure on those who do to have a good one.
  7. I am a bit concerned over that. Collagen is not the optimal Protein as I do not believe it is a complete protein source, compared to something like whey. I believe it is missing trypotophan, something you get from items like turkey. (In my family we call it the trypotophan high.) Try https://asmbs.org/resources/integrated-health-nutritional-guidelines. This might help, do a search for collagen. Best of luck.
  8. I used kettlebells off and on for the first year. Got settled into some other types of things. I will pick it up, like several others, on and off/on basis to keep me fresh.
  9. Crystal Light in water (or the equivalent) is what I use. You are still getting in 0 calorie liquids.
  10. @LumpySpacePrincess Taping. Male runners do it. That is an excellent idea. Thanks for mentioning it.
  11. @@LoreLu LOVE LOVE LOVE your Dad. Mine is upper 70's, 4x cancer and still goes it! Age, like your weight, is a number on the scale. It is NOT the rule of someones' life.
  12. @@My Bariatric Life @@Alex Brecher Thank you both for the article and response. I was hospitalized for malnutrition about 7 months after surgery. I literally was going to die from cachexia. I've had problems ever since then. I had GI issues before the surgery and the surgery was to fix a problem. Not only did it not, but caused a bunch of other issues. My bariatric surgeon did not test for all the items above. Only for what was "general for their patients". They also didn't know how to deal with complications, or, it appears, how to listen to a patient and not say everything was all in their heads. I would suggest, based on my experience, that people really ask about the aftercare. This is huge problem after surgery, and I've seen it on several forums. I was shocked and surprised when one post addressed it and got a lot of answers feeling the same way. My questions would be how much aftercare is performed, what types of complications have they dealt with and what ones have they dropped? I've seen "ads" that tout how great a place is, but can't take care of problems and end up really dumping them on other doctors. Please, I don't want to see others in that situation. I'm having a number of physical problems that interrupt my life and are expensive, all because a surgeon didn't know the researched complications after the surgery and didn't work with my doctors when his consult was requested (or put it in when it wasn't). Good luck to all.
  13. Why not ask a psychologist and see if what I said was fact. You are quite persistent and rather than continue, this is my last word on the subject. I know bullying when I see it. I've had it happen before.
  14. @@LipstickLady I get the impression this is more directed to a person (me) rather than in general. That's what I'm talking about, is people in general. If people want to give or not give support based on how/what they communicate, that is up to person to do so. I'm fine with it as I have no right to force any one to respond or say they're wrong for making that judgment. People do it all the time. Pointing out that there are communication issues that, if resolved, would help get someone get better care, is a point probably worth listening to. That's really the bottom line of what started this.
  15. Not being Alex Brecher, that should be a given. However, reviewing the posts, it appears there are a contingent of people who do feel that way. I've seen admins who talk about it in private. (General, as in I'm not saying where that has happened.) No, that's not an opinion. People are judged on how they present themselves. That's why so many have media consultants and those who present themselves in the public eye have publicists. Even on other forums the comments are made over and over how larger people, people who've had WLS, people who curse others out, Christians, Muslims, gays, everyone makes assumptions. I'd rather know and be able to deal with it, have a constructive conversation over it. The point is some people may not get help or get all the help they need because of the way their issue is framed. If changing the message delivery (or using spellcheck) will help that, I'm all for it. Again, you are only speaking for yourself, I assume, not the community at large. @@LipstickLady That was an explanation of fact of how the world is. You might disagree, others may or may not. It simply is a fact, nothing more and nothing less. Just like the judgment people get for being large, for having surgery, it is what it is. Whether I approve of the fact or not, doesn't matter. Nope. It's your OPINION. Sweeping generalizations do not equate to facts.

  17. @@mrs kaje That's correct. However it does not mean that you will be taken seriously. Like it or not, out in the business world how you present yourself is going to make a difference. The same is true on any forum. When I have the choice to help several people, the one who can express themselves in a manner where I'm not having to interpret the post, that's who is getting the help first. Just as people (like admins) notice who is able to keep their cool in a problem issue, who appears to give sources that are reliable, it makes a difference. I didn't spell their/they're right in my post. My apologies.
  18. @@Oregondaisy Can someone please notify Alex Brecher and have him put this post up in the memorable category. Sums it up.
  19. With all due respect, wouldn't that be Obesity Help? I've heard a lot of negative things, and got the same treatment there. I'm not sorry to say about that place, because they earned the reputation. Seriously, we are all going to be judged no matter what you do. It can be by your boss, your family, who becomes your friends. The ability to write a complete sentence and appear to speak proper grammar is a necessity. If you go to a retail store or the 7-11, the ability to clearly communicate makes a difference. People don't want to go somewhere where someone can't make themselves understood. What it indicates is how you respect yourself and the culture of what you are saying to others. If you want someone else to volunteer their time to help you, most want that respected. How you approach that tells someone willing to help everything. If they have the choice between helping one person that they need to "decipher" what their saying, with everything else being equal, they would choose to not help that person who can't express themselves well. This is not always a moral judgment as much as it is the way things are. Group morals can be a good thing. Being overweight can be accepted but is it always good for us? Think about how many have said their health improved after getting WLS. The pressure to be something else (skinny) is a positive.
  20. @@Gladys62 Very very happy for you! Congratulations! I also had Carafate and the like. Glad to know things are getting better.
  21. Always and forever. My understanding is that 1) it can stretch the pouch (whether or not that is true or not) and 2) the liquid will make the food run out of the stomach, causing you to feel less full.
  22. They were shoving meat on us very soon after, tuna fish, etc.
  23. @@feedyoureye Exactly! I start to wonder why they do not hype those farther out and get their ideas on things.
