  1. Runny nose, sneezing or hiccups? Did I miss something? Never heard those to be signs of being full... After the surgery your vagus nerve is very sensitive from the surgery and reacts to your eating. When you get full a lot of us notice a runny nose, hiccups, sneezing that is a sign that you need to stop eating because you have reached the full point. If this isn't happening to you no worries some do and some don't.
  2. Well said and you are looking terrific!!
  3. I watched this episode and the woman has major denial issues and is completely enabled by her husband. I felt bad for the doctor who was really trying to help her but you can't help someone who isn't willing to help themselves. Most of us that have this surgery have it because we are not in denial to what is before us. Until she accepts that it is her fault that it failed then it will continue. I did not feel bad for her I was mad at her. Maybe she has some mental disorders that would make it a little more acceptable but what I really saw was someone who wouldn't accept her own failures and put it on everyone else. Sad episode!
  4. 2 pounds for me Was 208 Now 206 Have a great weekend everyone!! Thanks Bea!!
  5. The funny thing is you have to constantly check yourself before you wreck yourself. Last night I wanted to just eat for the sake of boredom and realized it. Frowned and moved on. Still wanted to eat but I didn't. In the beginning there were tears, anger, etc. but now i literally say something like dang I want something and can't have it. That always helps me to shrug off the I wants and can't have it aggravation.
  6. Feel better soon and prayers on the way!
  7. I am 7 months post op and still don't have hunger. I wouldn't worry about this I think it is really unusual for this to happen. Talk to your surgeon about acid reducers because acid reflux will mimic hunger and most of us to do an acid reducer. Best of luck with your surgery!
  8. Oh my goodness!! I am so glad everyone is okay and the fire didn't go any further!! I wouldn't even give what you ate a 2nd thought............ever! That was incredibly stressful and I am sure you didn't have your thoughts together to make better choices. I know I wouldn't have! I hope you feel better soon!
  9. I am sorry that your weigh in didn't go the way you wanted it. I have to ask though how many calories and carbs a day are you getting? You said your clothes were getting looser so that indicates that you are losing even if the scale isn't showing it. Did you take your measurements before surgery? If so, measure yourself and compare the numbers. If not, measure yourself for the next comparison.
  10. I have never heard of a tube being left in after surgery. Sorry I can't help you more.
  11. I was on the executive board of the PTA for years and met many new friends that way! Great idea!!
  12. The one thing I wish I had done was do this years ago! If you are fully aware of the lifetime commitment you are about to do and really thought this out then I am happy for you. I strongly caution you that if you do not make the life changes necessary to maintain your weight loss then it will be for nothing. Be very very honest with yourself and even more aware of your old actions and thought patterns for why you are reaching for food. This must be fixed if you can do that then congratulations. You are only 18 so your skin should shrink back pretty good. It takes time for the skin to shrink but it does. For some of us not as good as others but it still shrinks some. Best of luck to you!
  13. Don't feel alone girl I think we are all in the market to replace those friends that just couldn't handle the new us. Honest, loyal and true seems harder and harder to find anymore! If it's to cold in Canada I have a warm beach in Florida!
  14. I would suggest that you get to know some of the moms of your children's friends. Some friendships just run a course and some go to the way side because you are no longer feeding their emotional needs. Many of us have lost friends because we are now the skinny friend instead of the fat friend. I am not saying that is the reason for your friendship issues but it is something to consider. Best thing for you is as you said make some new friends. Best of luck to you!
  15. My heart goes out to you! You are strong, have an opinion and smart. I have never been in this type of situation but in reading all of this if you are going to stay for now then I would suggest you call that number that someone listed and get some advice or education on what you are dealing with. It seems that he is keeping you not living with you and now he is going to cut off your transportation. Your losing weight has upset the apple cart and you may not know all of his reactions. Your confidence is going to increase and so is his behavior in the effort to keep you emotionally contained. Best of wishes to you. Guys weigh in on this she could use your opinions!!
  16. LOL I definitely remember this!!
  17. I think we all eat more prior to surgery especially at our favorite restaurants and favorite foods because we are saying goodbye to them. You might be having some head games going on because you know your going to be making a major change in your life. A word of caution however, I have seen people scheduled for their surgery only to have it postponed because they gained weight and their surgeon didn't like it. Ask yourself are you really hungry and what is the motivating factor behind wanting more food. If you are genuinely hungry then you are.......find something low in carbs and begin training yourself to eat foods that will fit into your new diet once the surgery is done.
  18. As long as your not sipping on a lot of it you should be fine. I know others who did this just to get a taste of some real food. For some reason many of us crave pickle juice and olives.....go figure!
  19. Your welcome!
  20. You can eat whatever you want. The thing is can you tolerate the honey and there is only 1 way to find out. My guess is you should be fine as long as it is only a little amount. My doctor warned me to try questionable things at home and not in a restaurant. Good luck!
  21. 6-8 bites is pretty average when you first start eating food again. You will find some days you can eat more than others. I am 7 months post op and this still happens with me. I consider it a bonus day when I can have a little more than normal. Nonsleevers would laugh at what we call bonus extra because it really doesn't add up to much but for us it's awesome!
  22. Thanks for the reply! I usually add ready to drink shakes to my coffee so I have never had any lumps but it's good to know I am still getting my protein.
  23. I am going to make a cup now and see what it heats up to. I heated it for 90 seconds and it went to 150 so maybe I should back it down to a minute. But it make sense that you can cook meat and eggs and still have protein.
  24. Thanks! I had read that but wasn't sure if the last part pertained to us. I love my premier protein shakes with my coffee and a little sf caramel machiatto (mispelled) in it. I heat it in the microwave and wasn't sure if it ruined the protein. I know Injury says we can't heat protein up past 130 but I wander if that ruins the consistency of the product and not the protein.
