  1. Holy Wow! That sounds delish!!

It is!! I used to put frozen corn in it also, but who needs the extra carbs now? This is one of my daughter's favorites because it is so satisfying, yet so healthy.

  2. How about a white chili? White ground chicken or turkey, some cannellini Beans, whole bag of baby spinach or bunch of cut up swiss chard, onion and garlic, and some cumin and other spices all in low sodium chicken broth. I would double the meat and only use 1 can of cannellini beans. This is super yummy!

  3. I'm 2 1/2 weeks post op and I'm supposed to be eating 3 meals per day. I'm on soft foods. When I progress to a regular diet in another 2 weeks, I can then add 2 Snacks. At present, I'm doing an hour of cardio per day, and since I started that, the 3 meals just isn't enough. I add 2 Snacks now...I was feeling weak without them burning up the extra calories. I have turkey sausage bites, turkey Jerky, string cheese, or mini babybel cheeses.

I only eat high Protein snacks...no exceptions.

  4. I have a pork tenderloin thawing in the fridge now. I'm going to marinate it with some olive oil, lemon juice, salt, pepper, garlic, dill, and parsley for a couple of days. It's actually 2 smaller tenderloins in the same package. I roast at 425 for about 30 minutes and let it rest for 10-15 min. The meat is super super lean and easier to get down than chicken, which I find to be more dense.

According to my Lose It app, a 3 oz portion cooked is 122 calories, 3g fat, no carbs, and 22.2g protein! It is super yummy...give it a try.

  5. First thing to do I stay calm, it is perfectly normal and natural to have slow downs or stalls along the way, stick to your plan and the weight loss will resume. You might consider tracking measurements, a lot of times when the scale isn't moving the waist is. Good Luck, enjoy the journey, it gets easier to deal with as time goes by.

Thanks, Richard! I know the measurements will still go down during a stall, but should I increase the Water, Protein, or calories due to the exercise now or just leave it "as is"? I wasn't sure if the exercise is what upset the balance of things, and if something needs to be adjusted.

  6. I have read countless posts about stalls and was full prepared to encounter these "bumps" along my journey. What I was not prepared for was having a stall at 1 week post-op! Just a little background....I had surgery on 7/22. I lost 9 pounds in the first week.

A week to the day exactly, I was feeling super awesome so I started doing an hour of treadmill 6 days per week. I was on purees when I started and I'm on soft foods now. I am tracking my food and exercise with Lose It. My net calories after exercise are between 250 and 500. Yesterday was 643. I am getting 75 - 95g Protein per day and 64 - 90 oz of Water per day.

The scale hasn't moved since last Monday, which is when I began to exercise. Do I need to increase my calories, water, or protein to get the scale moving again? I was absolutely NOT prepared to deal with this at only a couple of weeks out, but it is what it is.

Any suggestions from all you vets out there would be welcome.

    TIA
