  1. I'm the 25th too in Tampa. Very excited and nervous but, ready to do this
  2. I want to get the book and the two other "what others bought along with this book" on Amazon. Is it worth the money or is there a better book all about the Sleeve, pre-op, post-op, what to expect before and after the procedure. What you will be eating and how long before resuming some other foods besides soft foods, etc...Thanks
  3. Whether it is food, drugs, or whatever, an addiction is an addiction. The only difference between any of them is that they are dealt with in different manners.
  4. My breaking point was when I found myself unable to climb the 18 steps up to my apartment without being so winded. And every night when I lay down in my bed my palpitations were very uncomfortable and were increasing as my weight was piling on. Also, when I go out some where I have to wear something black especially my tops. They have to be big enough to be baggy so as to hide my pregnant-looking belly. I had been having a harder time finding those shirts in my closet and would go out and buy more. I want this excess weight off of me forever… I am so tired of being tired and ready to live my life the way it was meant to be lived... No more physical restrictions of climbing stairs, putting my socks and shoes on w/o hurting and having my belly obstruct me from doing so… and being able to reach my butt when I go to the bathroom first thing in the morning w/o back pain!!! (TMI) I know and don’t care at this moment… I am so mad at myself for letting my emotions and food dictate my life…I am writing this out of sheer desperation to be understood…Who else feels this way? On the calmer-side of me my surgery isn’t till September 25th, my hubby and I are eating prepared foods that are 500 mg of sodium (give or take) for dinner at night. I eat small portions throughout the day and will be doing my protein shakes starting next week Monday the 2nd, one week extra than required to give my body more time for adjustment. I know after the surgery I will be on liquids for about 3 days, then moving on to pureed providing I can tolerate it. If not then I will go back to liquids. I am 42 years old and have been overweight-obese for a combined 24 years and if I wind up having saggy and baggy skin when I reach my goal, so be it. I don’t care as long as I can live healthier and longer without any physical limitations it will all be worth it in the end.
  5. I'm the 25th of September. Can't wait for it to get here. I have to do my pre- op testing 20 days prior to the 18th to be sure all gets done for the doctor and anesthesia. Good luck to everyone in their journey to life.
  6. I haven't told but a few people who I know that had already had the surgery. I'm not announcing it on Facebook either. It's none of anyone's business and if they ask if I had surgery I would ask them why do you ask? Did you? It's your own journey to life, hence my screen name. Good luck to everyone in their journey to life.
  7. Special K1960, thank you for your wonderful words of wisdom and humor. You are a great inspiration to me as we'll. I'm a bit nervous myself but, in reading these forums especially ones like yours really puts it all into perspective. Thank you...
  8. I'm happy for you and hope for a speedy recovery. Good luck!
  9. Good luck and a speedy recovery
  10. I am feeling the same way. I have heard of people having leaks and other complications and it does make me wonder if I am doing the right thing. But, I think positive all the time and vision myself out of the hospital safely at home and adjusting to my new nutritional lifestyle changes. Concentrating on journaling what I eat and when I exercise. I know if I don't do something now I will continue to pack on the pounds till I can not longer control myself or worse become home-bound. I have to say my hubby is really not to supportive in my decision for this surgery as he is afraid of the worse. Life is about taking chances and you take a chance every time you get behind the wheel of a car. As nervous as I am myself, I will be doing my surgery on the 25th of September. Good Luck to everyone
  11. I like the last picture's saying. "No matter how slow you go you are still lapping everyone on the couch.
  12. Good luck to you, you will be just fine. Let us know how things go.
  13. Wow, good luck to you and let us sleeve virgins hear from your perspective what it was like. Good luck
  14. It is sad how food dictates my life. Whether I am happy, sad, mad, or angry I always resort to food. People who have real high metabolisms don’t seem to understand why I’m so fat. I eat as much as they do or even less and I gain the weight more than they would. I haven't had my surgery yet but just trying to leave a little on my plate is getting easier. I have even been doing portion control and leaving a bite or two. It feels good when my stomach signals to my brain that I have had enough to eat and it’s time to put the plate away. And then I start to wonder what if I can do this w/o the surgery? I’m losing weight by eating less and feeling content with such small amounts. But, then it hits me. I’ve been on this trail before. I have lost weight by portion control alone, and I felt great and had the momentum going like a train, and then one day I derail off the tracks. I’ve had a bad day at work or something to that effect and all of a sudden I want to eat!!! I want the carbs, sweet and salty and the whole nine yards. So I start stuffing my mouth and stomach with satisfying mood food to the point of no return. And when the dust clears I feel so stuffed and miserable, regretting ever taking the first bite. Other times after work or on days I am off, I am bored and have nothing to do, there’s nothing good on TV, I don’t feel like going anywhere, so I sit and eat a bag of chips or cookies and milk. That seemed to have passed some time away. Eating those so-called foods while not being active is what has packed on my pounds over the years. That pretty much is who I am before I started this journey to the weight-loss surgery. After many months of thinking about it and researching along the way, I have decided that this is what I will do. I have seen a couple of people that I know have success with it and so here I am. I feel it will be a great tool to help me in those times of boredom. I will have to diligently follow a nutrition program that cannot just throw my arms in the air and give up. I look at it as a strong way to keep me on the straight and narrow. As if I’m in jail and can only eat what is given to me. I am so ready for this surgery on the 25th of September, exactly one month from now. I still have to do my pre-op blood work, chest x-ray, EKG, and my endoscopy. Get my PCP to sign off and hope that the money we are expecting on the day of my pre-op doctor visit will be in the bank as I have to pay them for the program fee. When all that is complete I will be ready for the next chapter of my life.
  15. Now it's the next day, how are you feeling? Have you been getting your daily rations of liquids in? Happy second day
  16. Meta-mucil is a wonderful fibre rich powder that you add to Water. It's orange flavored and even comes in sf version. This has physillium in it to help bulk/soften up your stools so that you can poop comfortably. My medications make me have hard bm's and meta-mucil works for me the next morning. Good luck with it and meta-mucil won't mess with your meds or anything. It's all good.
  17. You have to go with your gut feelings. If you're having doubts then don't do it. Maybe talk to your doctor and get some information. Reschedule your appointment to give you more time to research and think a little more about it. Just a suggestion.
