Does It Really Take 6 months Before You Have your surgury
lucy00us replied to Cupcake's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Each insurance company has diffre requirements. Mine was four visits, but the total process from first visit to approval was six months. You should use that time to go to all your specialists, try out Protein shakes, and go to support groups. Good luck in the beginning of your journey! -

lucy00us replied to lucy00us's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you all for the quick replies...I have plenty of weeks paid in full at work under my disability plan, but I'm concern with the job responsibilities. I'll wait until Monday morning and decide. Lucy -
I had my surgery on 7/3 and the weight lost stopped! I'm trying to keep a positive attitude, but it's hard. I'm also tired of the sweet protein shakes. I'm mainly getting my protein from Isopure drinks. My doctor gave me the ik for puree, but I don't know what to eat either

Its just one thing after another!
lucy00us replied to LittleDooker's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sorry to hear about your difficulties eating and with Protein intake. Tomorrow I'll be two weeks post op and I'm getting my protein from Isopure drinks. They are good and 15 g.of protein per 8oz. Premier Protein shakes are better than most and are 30g pee 11oz. I hope this info helps. Lucy -

Hi, I had mine done six days ago and have been going through the same issues. It gets a little better every day. Walk as much as possible and drink very slow. My doctor gave me medicine for the nausea and reflux, and for the pain. Stay positive it'll get better. Regards, Lucy

Having my surgery in two days
lucy00us replied to nridore's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi, I had mine done four days ago and it's been painful. It feels like everything was pulled and rehooked! A lot of gas and it makes my stomach feels like its going to exploded. it is hard the first couple of days but I heard its a lot better so don't be discouraged by the first few days! -
Congratz on having the right state of mind for the surgery! I'm having mine done in two days and I'm very excited! I understand about letting the wild child in you out and doing things that you are embarrassed to do right now! I feel the same way myself! Good luck! Lucy

I know how you feel! I'm going thru the emotions right now. I got my date at the beginning of June and I've been so busy with work that I haven't had time to think about it much. Now that my day is around the corner on 7/3, I'm starting to be nervous to the point of not sleeping right and having palpitations! Congratz in getting your surgery date!

First doctor visit : 01/31/13 Weight on first visit: 334 lbs. Insurance : Aetna Schedule surgery day: 7/3/13 Current weight: 320 lbs The day is almost here....after all my pre-ops appointments and tests, and insurance approval! two more days before the big day! Hello everyone! This is my first blog and post ever! so I'll try my best. I've been overweight all my life. I became obese in my early adulthood years and even more after the birth of my second child. I'm at my top weight ever at 334 lbs. I've been considering weight loss surgery for many years, but I always end up trying to lose the weight on my own and obviously it has not worked. In December 2012, I decided it was time to get serious about getting back my health. I went for my first consultation in January 2013 and started my pre-surgery insurance requirements. I started weight in visits with my surgeon in February and since then I had my psychologist evaluation in February, endoscopy and colonoscopy in March and had to get Iron infusions with a hematologist due to iron deficiency anemia. I went for my last weight in yesterday and was very excited about having done my part with all the appointments and follow ups. I guess the excitement and happiness didn't last me long because the program coordinator informed me today that they messed up and that I needed one more weight in and that my surgeon doesn't have all the reports from the different doctors I've seen I'm a little disappointed because I thought that my surgeon and his staff would have things a little better organized and that they'd let me know if they needed more information or were missing paperwork before my last weight in. I have a lot of things going on at work and it's very hard not to be able to plan and have "life" on hold until I can have the definite date of surgery. I've read many post in this blogging community and it helps to read about people's experiences and what everyone else have gone through pre and post-surgery. I hope that writing about my own dilemmas will help me and other people having the same issues. Wish me luck! Lucy
