  1. My wife is from Albuquerque and Posole is something she usually makes around xmas/new years. Since my surgery was 2 days before xmas, it wasnt an option last year, but I will be looking forward to it this coming holiday season. Although I will probably take it easy with the hominy and stick mostly with the pork and broth.

I made it and eat it . is OK just the amount we tolerate. I live in ABQ .

  2. I wish I had changed my extended release meds to the different ones three months before surgery so that it was done, and not had the change happening at the same time as surgery.

I wish that I had realized that "no swallowing any pills bigger than an m&m" translated into a 1 hr delay between pills for the first few weeks (I can take a bunch at a time now, five months out)

I wish that I had practiced eating slowly more. Put the fork down between bites! Learning the hard way sucks.

I wish that I had realized how hard it would be mentally to accept that the person in the mirror, 100 lbs skinnier, is still me. I don't recognize her. The mental part of the surgery is vastly under-acknowledged and the prep / post specialized care for it (body image, confidence, etc) is lacking. I think we all could benefit from more help. Don't be afraid to ask for it.

i second this wish every day:

I wish that I had realized how hard it would be mentally to accept that the person in the mirror, 80 lbs skinnier, is still me. I don't recognize her..

  3. I was Sleeved May 13. My highest wt was 325' date=' wt Day of surgery was 305. I'm down to 260 and have been stuck here for the past month (or more) I dip down to 258 then back up. I want to be happy with 60# in 6 months....but it's hard. I've been traveling on a vacation the past 2 months and its been hard to stick to my normal routine. I hope to get back on track in December. Looking at Before and After pics (and my clothes) I can see a change. I just know I'm capable of better.

So Happy I found my log on info so I can check in here again. Pics are 11 months apart![/quote']

I'm stuck too. :( I was sleeve on may 06 . 255 SD and after 5 months I lost 80 pounds , now 175 for almost last month! I hope to start loosing again I still need another 25 to reach my goal

  4. The people who say "you took the easy way out" are idiots. Sorry to be blunt' date=' but anyone who thinks being sleeved is 'easy' doesn't know sh*t. What's easy about having major surgery? Or having to monitor your food, Vitamin, Protein, supplement & Water intake for the rest of your life? What's easy about having to exercise when you may not have ever done so before? Or having plastics after you finally lose the weight because you have so much extra skin? There is no safe, easy way to lose weight. It's ALL hard. Those of us who choose to be sleeved do so because we think this is the best way for US, not because it's EASY.[/quote']

    AMEN

  5. I hear I'm gonna lose some hair after this surgery. Will this be enough hair to be an excuse to buy and wear wigs? How much hairloss are we talking here?

I already lost like 50 to 65℅ of my hair. But I used to have hair for 3 more people Jajajaja. I'm 5 months out, the Dr. Told me to drink Biotin and fish oil. I cut it short short to deal with it, now I just comb it with my hands.

Btw I think is going to be fun if I buy a wig.

  6. My husband said the same types of things... Said over and over try another diet try this try that. I stood my ground and now he is on board. I am doing all the preop apts and stuff now and plan is to be sleeved mid-November. He's standing beside me and encouraging me. He's educated himself as well and agreed he would eat right and also exercise with me. Weaning myself off caffeine--as a night nurse--- is terrible though!! A lot of people that are males in my life are skeptical' date=' I've been told i didn't try hard enough, I needed to just drink Water more, and I was taking the easy route. I said I was going to do it before thanksgiving so they would take me more serious! So far I've been 7 days with no soda or fast food. I haven't had but 2 sweets in the week and I've lost 12 pounds in the 3 weeks I've been trying to get the ball rolling.[/quote']

You go girl, your doing this for you. Congratulations on your new journey :-)

  7. I figured I would start a new thread to give updates on how surgery went for me and my progress. I had a lower body lift' date=' small inner thigh lift, outer thigh liposuction, breast lift an augmentation. I traveled alone to Mexico for these procedures to see dr. Sauceda.

I'm going to post some before and after pics, I know that when I was researching that I wanted to know what to expect, what I would need and really what to do. I'm open to answering any questions:)

This is by before and day 6 post op.

This was by night before and day 4 post op.

    2hrs out of surgery.

Drains and incisions day of surgery
