Reyrey reacted to crystalny in Tummy tuck & babies
Actually, having a baby won't undo your Tummy Tuck. I think it would help if you did some research and found out for yourself? Youtube "baby after tummy tuck". In almost all of the cases, people who had tummy tucks before they had their children didn't get as big while they were pregnant, and most of their stomachs went right back to how it was before the pregnancy. Most of the women say that their tummy tuck wasn't affect AT ALL. And they show you pics/videos to prove it.
I am also in your situation. I had my sleeve last year at 22 years old. I lost over 150 lbs and am pretty much at goal/will be at goal in the next month or so. I am 23 years old now and I will be getting a tummy tuck and breast lift by the end of this year. I have been going through this question for some time now, whether to wait until I have kids (like everyone says) or to just do it now. I honestly feel like you should have your tummy tuck as soon as you are finished losing weight, if its what you want, regardless if you have had kids yet. The fact of the matter is that, most, if not all, of the people who are advising us to "wait until we have children" are much older than us, so quite frankly they would not understand. Being in your early twenties is quite different from being in your 30's, 40's, or even late 20's. We are still very young and our time is now! Theres no reason to wait to have children... who's to say you'll even have kids in the next 5 years, 10 years? And all that time you could have been enjoying your youth in a youthful body. This is what I tell myself anyway. And if worse comes to worst, just get another tummy tuck when that time comes. But honestly from the research I've been doing, women who have babies after tummy tucks come back better than women who had babies without tummy tucks. But research for yourself and good luck!

Reyrey reacted to mikeyaintskerd in 5 Months out... My story
It has been awhile since I have posted here. So long, that I almost forgot that I was a member. September 15th will make 5 months since I had my surgery. A lot of things have changed for me. First off, the Protein shakes, had to stop. At first they were easy, and great. Except, I could only drink one kind and only one flavor of that kind. Everything else was making me sick. Of course, two of the same flavor, of the same kind, twice a day, every day, after a few months, also started to make me sick. It got to the point where I was getting sick, thinking about drinking the shakes. My meal also changed. After the healing seemed to complete, I noticed I started eating more often. At first this bothered me, because the idea of eating more often, seemed in my mind to defeat the purpose. Yet, I also noticed that I was eating a lot less.... just more frequently. I also noticed I was drinking a lot more fluids then I had ever done. I also, have not had a drink of soda, since my surgery, which I think probably also helped. I noticed that bread, will not be eaten again. That includes cake, Bagels, doughnuts, etc. I have tried almost all of these things, and while it does not make me sick, it hurts. I am not a fan of pain, so I do not try them again. I find that I do not miss any of them. I have noticed that I have a very huge craving for grapes. I now go through grapes, like I used to go through milk. I used to go through a lot of milk (something else I find, I do not miss.)
Well, after almost 5 months, and fearing that my eating was going to become a problem, I have lost 92 pounds. I am very close to the goal that my doctor set for me, and I believe I will pass that goal. Some other things that have changed. I am off all of my medications, except for my thyroid. Since I eat more times a day then I used to, I find foods that are high in Protein for Snacks, such as tuna. For the first 3 months, I could not eat tuna, but my dietitian told me to keep trying. She said that if I am going to cut out the Protein Shakes, I needed to find other sources, and tuna is a great source. So far, now at 5 months, I find I can eat tuna again. In fact, other then the breads, I have found that I can eat just about anything. My sweet weakness is M&Ms. I usually eat a bag of them a week. Which compared to how I used to eat them.....much much different. I also have a weakness for chocolate chip frappachino from Mcdonalds. I had someone tell me, I should not drink those, but I compare it to what I used to get at Mcdonalds. One meal at Mcdonalds for me used to be, a double quarter pounder, large fries, two mcdoubles, and a milkshake. Now a meal for me at Mcdonalds is the frappachino, and thats it. So I felt guilty at first, but not so much in contrast. That and instead of going like 3 times a week, I go like once a month.
I also found out, that I can run. I started running a mile every morning. It was only taking about 7 minutes once I got into it, that I thought that was not enough time. So now, I run for 30 minutes every morning. One day I will try to see how far I am going. I leave my house, and run for 15 minutes, and then turn around and run back. It is amazing, because I would not run before. I used to have a joke at work, that if someone made me chase them, they would get hurt if I caught them for making me run. Now, I have had to chase people, and smile the whole time I am doing it. In my local area, I am signed up for two 5ks.... coming up in October, and another run, called a Mud run in December. That one has an obstacle course, which I think I need some training for. Learned about something called a Zombie run, which I will be doing next year.
As far as more personal things, there was a rumor that I was told about.... size. I am talking about the little guy size....downstairs. Anyway, I was told that for every 30 pounds lost, I would gain an inch. I thought that was complete BS, yet, it was extremely pleasing to one day wake up in the morning, and notice that I could see.... everything. In a way that I had never experienced. Then to top it off, my wife, told me some stuff about things that could not be done before, that was being done now. I do not want to go into detail, but that rumor, seems to have a bit of truth behind it. Something I used to be ashamed of, I am now very proud of.
My kids have noticed a difference with me as well. I am doing all sorts of activities with them. Went to a Water park with them, and they where shocked that I went on the slides with them. Something I would not even think about doing before. I had an amazing time, and I am sure they will remember it for a long time. Something I do not think I would have been doing before I had the surgery.
I also got very luck with loose skin. As, so far, I do not have any, and have been told by the doctor, that I might not have any. He said to make sure, once I lose to the point I feel comfortable, I should start weight training. That building up muscle, would help fill in the skin, that was full of fat. Sounds like a plan to me. Anyway, that is my story so far. If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask me.

It's not too late. I understand how you feel though. I am about three months out and I have been watching what I eat but for some reason my weight loss is slow, so I am going to kick it up a notch and exercise more. If you want encouragement look me up! I could use encouragement myself!

Nothing easier than squeezing some lemon and pepper on chicken breast or fish and throwing it in the oven. Add a side of steamed veggies. Boring but better than unhealthy

So I am on 11 days post op and I have just been a little grumpy girl. .... everything and everyone annoys me so much, and I feel weak. I am not drinking enough Protein and this I know for a fact, but I can't stand Isopure or Unjury. And I barely finish 1 Protein Shake a day (about 30grams) does anyone have a better way to get protein? Is their protein capsules I can take? ? Also something to calm me down. ... I'm pretty sure my family and friends are tired of my crabbyness. Lol

Today, I am One Month, Two Days out from my Mommy Makeover (Tummy tuck, butt lift, fat transfer, Lipo, breast reconstruction, and lift, as well as augmentation) with Dr Niebles ( Neibles) in TJ Mexico.
This man is a miracle worker, and I feel like I am finally in the body that I was meant to be in my whole life!
I had my gastric sleeve May 15, 2012.
Lost my weight (110lbs) right away, and then stayed at my goal and held for 6 more months until May of this year, and booked my body reconstruction with not so high expectations of the outcome. Every day I look at my body and I can't believe that it's mine! I am finally in the body that I belong in! I am about 10 more lbs down. I could NOT be happier with my new body and my new LIFE!

I am 3 1/2 months and I remember well what you're going through and although it doesn't help much, it passes quickly! If you have time before you go, I have a solution. Buy a chicken, carrots, onions and celery.... Cook together and once done blend a few veggies, a thigh meat until pasty and pour back into the broth. It makes it so much richer and yummy. I added a few potato flakes to a small serving while it was still runny, if felt like I was eating a gourmet meal!!

Have you tried some lowfat cream of chicken Soup strained? Mix it with some milk and add some non fat dry milk for extra Protein. I ended up having 2 servings a day because I couldn't stomach the commercial Protein Shakes. that or I made my own protein shakes from a list my NUT gave me.

I had to read this topic when I saw the description because it is exactly how I am feeling today, and I am almost a month out...I still have my ups and downs...I remember feeling like you when I was on liquids still...then I started feeling better when I could eat mushy foods...my current "funk" is the result of my not losing any more weight at all for at least a week...it is extremely frustrating because I am following the program...I am only taking in about 500 to 600 calories per day, so how can I not be losing at least a little weight? I can assure you that a month pre-surgery I was eating way over 500 calories a day--also eating my beloved bread, Pasta, potatoes, rice, and the occasional sweet and I didn't gain weight...I didn't lose either I admit but now I am the same (not losing) and yet I am doing without...I know I am just whining now and usually I am much more of a realist than a whiner...blame it on my hormones, lack of carbs, depression, whatever...but I just feel like saying "it isn't fair!"

It helps with the surgical gas!! I had some issues with my heart rate/very low bp and so they didn't have me walking around in the hospital as much as other people usually do, and those helped SO MUCH with the gas. Definitely pick some up if you can! Good luck!!

Just wanted to share my blog post from my year surgiversary - http://mygastricsleevelife.blogspot.com/2013/05/my-year-surgiversary.html
I'm down 92.2 lbs from my weight before my 2-week pre-op diet, lost 56.5 inches throughout my body & have gone from size 30/32W down to 16 regular. I still have about 30-40 lbs to go to reach my own personal goal, but I'm thrilled with my progress and so happy I made this decision last year!!
We have a different camera now, so my pictures don't match up completely even though they're taken in the same place in our room.
