My journey started in January 2013 when I went to a normal doctor visit because of my thyroid and was weighed and the scale read 359lbs, I was mortified that I let myself get that big the biggest I have been in my whole life. I knew I had to do something to change this but I had tried everything and the results were always the same I gained the weight back that I managed to lose and it just depressed me more. I knew several people a work who had the gastric sleeve surgery but did not know if it was for me until I decided I had to find out and go to a siminar and learn about it for myself. I left the siminar knowing this is what I had to do for myself so that I can live to see my 6 year old daughter graduate high school and to see my older boys get married and have families of their own. So I started the process with my primary care doctor and also the bareatric doctor and it was easier than I thought it would be. My insurance approved me the first time around and the next thing I knew I was starting my two week liquid diet and having the surgery. Here I am almost 3 weeks post-surgery and I am 47lbs down and I feel great about this journey I have started to the new me. I have a long way to go but I have great support from my husband and children and friends cheering me on so I know I will succeed. I know there will be struggles along the way but I know this is what I was meant to do and in the long run I will be a better and healthier person for doing this.
