elmay got a reaction from JUSTMUAH in Best salmon ever
I love salmon and have made it many times -- broiled, grilled.
I made this recipe this week and it is the best salmon I have ever tasted -- home cooked or restaurant. It is very simple, marinate it in soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, brown sugar substitute, ginger, and garlic. Broil it til it is crispy. Then pour over a sauce of honey, soy sauce, sesame oil. I didn't even have the ginger in the sauce (I used it all on the marinade) or green onions (the supermarket was out -- how can that be?!). It was the best ever.

I remember the first time the scale went over 300. I was mortified. Unfortunately, that is a number I have seen come and go quite a bit. In 2005 and 2008, I managed to get down to 245 or so. Each time, I gained it all back plus more. I've decided that WLS is my best/only chance to have a normal life. I'm 52 and I figure I can get at least 15 more good years. I want to go downhill skiing again (with my 10 year old son). I want to backpack again -- and to hike the John Muir Trail which is 200+ miles along the High Sierra in California. I have never been a runner, but that would be awesome.
Tomorrow is my surgery. It is scary to think of 85% of my stomach being permanently removed. I'm worried about the side effects and complications.
I just need to keep my eye on the goal.

I can relate! I'm getting sleeved tomorrow at 9:45am and I'm scared, nervous, and jittery.
I just have to keep focused on why I'm doing this. I want my life back. I want to go skiing with my 10 year old this winter. I used to love to ski, but haven't been since around 1992 -- I just got too fat to fit in a ski boot (I have thick ankles) and I was afraid of tearing up my knees. I don't get to see him all the time -- he lives with my ex in California. He comes and visits for a week or so over winter break and for a month during the summer. We also see each other every other month or so for a weekend. Last year, he came up here over Christmas break, and I took him up to our local ski area twice -- he did really well in his lessons. I want to go skiing with him so bad. I believe that with this surgery, I will be able to do that.
Good luck to all of us this week!

I can relate! My surgery is tomorrow morning at 9:45am. I've been cruising WLS forums and blogs all day. This is the start of a new life for all of us -- I suppose it is normal to be nervous. .
    Good luck!
