Hello everybody
A little about me, I am 38, single mother with four kids (15, 13, 8 & 2), 5'6" 250 lb BMI 40, size 18/20 & 2x
I have being dealing with my weight all my life.
I finally made the decision to undergo weight loss surgery, which I've been postponing for a while now, just because I thought it was a long time from initial orientation to getting surgery. That said, every time I thought about it i would try to loos weight on my own, either WW, diets, gym, self hypnosis, cleansing pills, water pills, etc. Only temporary solutions like a lot of us, I would loose 5 to 15 pounds and then gain it back and some extra.
I started treatment for Hypertension late 2011. Last year in August 2012, my blood pressure raised to 120/185 and I got very dizzy and all I could see in my head was images of my children. I almost passed out. I got very scared.
This time around, I told myself that it was time to get serious and start the journey of bariatric surgery.
I could say that I like myself just how I look, but that was my excuse and a big lie. But my big motivation really is my health and be there to see my kids grow.
As of today (5/13/13) I've gotten this far:
10/11/12 Initial Bariatric orientation
11/21/12 physical
12/5/12 Mental evaluation
12/5/12 Nutrition Orientation
1/2/13 Mental follow up
feb-apr '13 weekly groups and nutrition follow up
May-___'13 Monthly pre-op and post-op groups
Both the nutrition and the mental departments had approved me for surgery, I am waiting to hear from the doctors to start the pre-operation appointments and get my surgery date.
