  1. Now my problem is letting go of the "losing" aspect of this program and learning how to maintain weight. So many fears of eating normal and gaining weight. I still have a great deal of restriction with my food intake, thankfully. I am strictly a chicken n veggie eater. I have not strayed since surgery (food-wise). I have been very strict since the surgery. I go to the gym 6 days a week x2 hrs a day. I'm 4'11" and weigh 115. I have had a 90 pound weight loss to date. Any suggestions on how I can get over the fear of eating normal .... to maintain my weight? Thank you in advance for ur suggestions!

  2. I'm at 55 pounds and not a soul has said a single word!

I get very few comments too, especially at work (where I spend most of the day)! My husband says the women are just jealous and envious and , it would be inappropriate for a male to comment as it could be misconstrued as something more than a compliment. I'm 4'11. My heaviest weight was 206, and I'm currently 140. I went from a pant size 16/18. I'm now a size 6/8. I've lost 66 pounds and for my height, every pound, whether I gain or lose is noticeable.

Hang in there!! Your doing great!! Ill be the first to tell you, YOU LOOK AMAZING!! :-)

  3. I am going to my first appointment with the surgeon' date=' nurse, and nutritionist tomorrow. I have been to the Seminar but that is all so far. I am very nervous and trying to make a list of questions for when I go. I know that I will forget everything I have thought about when I step in her office. Any suggestions?

I am so nervous. What if I don't weigh enough? I haven't been at BMI of 40 so I have been gaining weight to get there because I don't have comorbidities. What if I go through these 6 months and get denied?

    advice for this newbie please.[/quote']

Congratulations on making the decision to head into this wonderful journey!! I'm 3-1/2 post op and have had an incredible ride so far.

I was not over BMI of 40 either. I, too, considered gaining weight, but didnt need to. My dr allowed me just the way I was. BMI 39. I have heard and even considered myself, to wear ankle weights to my drs appt. as opposed to putting on weight, just to hit the targeted BMI of 40.

From my understanding, majority of drs will do surgery as long as you don't gain weight through the process.

Good luck to you!!! The process seems like it takes forever to go though, but, it is soooooo worth the weight/wait!!! ;-)

  4. I'm 3 months out. I went to the mall yesterday to buy slacks for work becuz all my pants are falling off me (size 12)' date=' and picked up some size 10s to try on....and to my surprise, the 10s were too big!!! I'm officially in a size 8!! All 4 pairs of slacks I bought were size 8!!! I haven't been a size 8 since .... Well, decades!! I went from a size 12 to size 8.... totally skipping size 10. So excited!!

I need to to mention, I was a size 16/18 at surgery weight.

  5. I had an NSV yesterday. I bought size 14 jeans and they fit like a glove!!! Pre-op I was wearing tight size 20's. I love clothes shopping now' date=' but to save money since I'm changing sizes so much, I've been going to thrift stores and outlets. Even my feet are smaller!!! I don't have to look for wide fittings now. These last 3 months have been amazing!!!!![/quote']

I use to HATE shopping for clothes, too! It was sooooo depressing and I would just hate myself after trying on clothes and looking so frumpy!! Shoe shopping use to be a chore too, looking for a 6.5 wide. Now, I can wear a 5.5-6 (no wide)!! All in 3 months!! Can't wait to see what the next 3 months has in store for me! :)

  7. I was unable to drink anything without that horrible taste, as well. Water even was bad. I lived on ice chips for one month post op, then I was able to tolerate water, crystal light, etc. but, yeah... It took me a month to get that taste out of my mouth. And, trust me, ur breath probably isn't very nice either. That goes away too!

    Good Luck!!

  8. Went to my 3 month check up yesterday and my dr congratulated me and informed me I'm no longer considered morbidly obese or even obese .... I'm now just considered "overweight"!!! He said I need to lose 21 more pounds to be in the "normal" range!!

    I'm 4'11.

    My heaviest weight was 206.

    surgery weight 186.

    Current weight 146.

From size 16/18 to size 8/10.

    Doing the happy dance ????

  9. It's been sooooooooooo long since I've been able to cross my legs that I'm not even sure I'll remember how!!! Congratulations!!!

It actually crossed all by itself. I was shocked when I looked down and seen my one leg on top of the other. I was so excited I was gonna take a picture of it!! :-)

I'm 4 weeks post op and it does get easier. Although it all still looks soooo good. I tell my husband to just put a plate of food in front of me and let me bury my face in it. I won't eat any of it, I just want to plant my face in it. Lol. And then there's that smell ... When someone's bbqing... OMG!!! You just have to use that old "mind over matter". And, I know my taste buds have changed quite a bit, so I rationalize and tell myself, ehhh it probably will taste nasty anyways. So, I win!! :-)

  11. I'm on day 8 pre-op liquid diet and I really want to eat <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':(' /> I won't cheat though I'm just so sick of shakes and want to taste something different <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':(' />

Question am I really NOT going to want to eat post-op because I can't see that now . Right now I feel like I could wake up from anesthesia and eat ' date='eat

eat !! I think I'm getting delusional and crazy from shakes!

To be completely honest, I think the first week post op was the hardest. While you are at home recooperating, watching TV, every commercial that comes on is about food. Big fat juicy mouth watering burgers, grease dripping pizzas, restaurant commercials.... Everything you can't eat, just shoved in your face. Believe it or not, you are not hungry, but your mind and mouth are telling you different. You want to just take one huge bite of something, anything, just to feel texture in you mouth.... Just to taste something with yummy flavor. But, you become strong. You know if you eat, you will get sick. So you don't! Mind games... Yeah, I'd say so.

Good luck.... The prize in the end is what you should be craving!! :-)

  12. I use Top Ramen Soup (minus the noodles) and add one egg while broth is cooking until egg is fully cooked. I also only use 1/2 the packet of seasoning mix as it can be high in sodium. It's perfect and delicious during the full liquid / soft food stage.

  13. Weight-in I'm the same 3mos post op now I drink Wyler's light sugar free and caffeine free or Hawaiian punch sugar free singles on the go or Walmart great value raspberry ice sugar free low calories you can add to your Water ..My taste buds have change a lot can you take back the CL to the store ..

Wylers, huh? Hawaiin Punch SF.. Ill give it a try. I'm desperate to find something I can drink... And enjoy. Water is tough. I opt for ice from Sonic. That's getting me thru with the liquids. Thanks for the suggestions. :-)
