  1. Good Luck! My endoscopy got delayed to 6/12 bc Cobra did not process my insurance payment on time, grrrrrr....
  2. I am planning on the JMH south one on June 13, but will probably wander if I don't like it.
  3. I will be going to this months meeting. Good luck on ur surgery!
  4. So I am scheduled for July 8 and my surgeon tells me he does not require a preop diet, just normal surgery fast before. For those who did not preop, was it hard post op to be on such a limited diet? I am already starting to use protein shakes for breakfast and being kind to my liver so that I heal well. Anyone not need to diet before surgery?
  5. I'm in Miami, surgery is July 8, so excited!!!
  6. Hey ClinicalNurse, how are you? Are you still there or did you get discharged. Hope it went well! Miami peeps, which support group do y'all go to?
  7. Lilyrose, I like the way you think, the shrink appt should be renamed to NUT appt!
  8. Aly, yes I am in Miami, my surgeon is Jacobs. Good luck tomorrow!
  9. I was approved in a week. Just make sure you given them everything they want. You should call UHC and ask to speak to the bariatric resource nurse. They will guide you well in terms of your requirements and will prescreen you.
  10. Aly, who is doing your surgery in Miami?
  11. Masko, thanks I love him too. Just got date for July 8. Meeting with bariatric team on the 23rd then endo scheduled for June 4. Hopefully surgery date will pushed up since he is so busy he is thinking of adding another surgery day to his work week.
  12. I'm in Miami too, going through the preop stuff with Moises Jacobs, MD. Insurance is covering it, woohoo!
  13. When I first started getting everything together and contacting the bariatric resources (optum health), I spoke to the bariatric resources nurse. She told me approvals take up to 15 work days (3 weeks). I decided to call them once a week mainly to make sure my surgeons office actually sent the paperwork correctly (they were initially given wrong information by UHC because they did not go through bariatric resources). I was approved very quickly. Don't be afraid to call them and find out where in process you are.
  14. My UHC policy had easy requirements, I had them all and was approved in less than a week. Meeting with surgeon this week to schedule all preop and surgery. Read your policy and make sure you have everything they want and they should approve you. Good Luck!
  15. I just got off the phone with United, they APPROVED me!!! Now time to follow up with surgeon and get at date!!!
  16. I spoke to United this morning and they have received everything from my surgeons office yesterday. I am lucky to have a plan that did not require the 6mo nutritionist/medical diet. I got a little delayed because I was laid off in the middle of the process and had to wait for Cobra to kick in but everything seems to be going in right direction. I hope they approve me soon so I can have a May date since I am holding off on finding a new job. Otherwise I have a short window of time to get on another insurance plan at my second job, but they use Aetna and I would have to start the 6 month medical supervised diet. The timing is so right for this surgery to happen now that I am between jobs....I just don't want to be delayed, grrrrr..... Good thoughts, candles lit and fingers crossed for Unitied to approve!
