  1. I have had one life long friend say they knew of someone who died on the table during a wls 20 years ago....things have changed, technology and sanitation requirements are much better and who knows what else that person had wrong with them? Its like when you get pregnant everyone wants to tell you their worst (and sometimes best) pregnancy stories..I have told all of my family and close friends and a few people at work...will eventually tell everyone at work when I go on leave...I want and need a good support network...and I have that the more information I share, the happier they are for me. Good luck!!
  2. I SHOULD be a June sleever...got verbal approval, but waiting on the letter-written approval- before my date can be scheduled...they said they schedule about 2 weeks out from the date the approval is received, so that would be mid June. I HOPE!!
  3. I guess I am very lucky...the Nut, physical fitness, psych and medical drs were all at my one location and did the interviews consecutively in a 4 hr time frame then I was done and approved by all of them, then meet the surgeon a week later and he cleared me for the egd...after the egd, they submitted all of my records for approval. Got denied at first due to some missing info then appeal was filed next day with the missing info and got approval the day after that....good luck to all of you!
  4. The Egd (aka endoscopy or scope) are standard routine for every patient for MY dr so he knows exactly what he will be getting into. Yes, different drs require different tests. Good luck!
  5. Congrats!! My surgeon told me after my egd that I have "a really large stomach" I laughed and said "I know that is why I am having the surgery" he laughed too....he meant the inside of the stomach was huge and explains why my stomach growls all the time! Good luck!!
  6. I am in the pre-op stage and just got verbal approval. We are waiting on the written approval letter and then they will schedule my surgery date and pre-op appt. When/where do you get your pre-op diet? Do you meet with the Nut again at the pre-op apt and get it then? A little confused here.....
  7. That is awesome!! Congrats!!
  8. Hi Everyone, I just got verbal approval to have my sleeve surgery and am waiting for the written letter so we can set the date It will be done by Dr John Gonzalvo at Tampa General Hospital in Tampa FL, hopefully sometime in June. I would like to find others who had it done there, or plan to have it done there and compare notes and form our own little support network with someone who has been there (literally) and dealt with the same place and people, etc. Please introduce yourself. I look forward to "meeting" you. -Thank you, Brenda
  9. my FINAL straw was last summer at the beach, I could not get down on the sand (or should I say I was afraid I could not get back up) so I used my cousin's camp chair...and it BROKE! I landed in the sand anyway ......there are MANY, MANY other reasons listed previously by others but that was my final straw that pushed me into being more serious about my research into the sleeve and other wls options. BTW--I plan to zip line in Costa Rica too!! I am pre-sleeve, just got verbal approval Thursday, waiting on the letter then will get a date finally!! Cannot wait to start my new life!!
  10. Been there, done that....did you DR prescribe ambien or anything for you to take to help sleep? When I did mine (years ago), I took an ambien....no problem sleeping, lol....good luck, nitey-nite
  11. I have not been sleeved yet but I have been reading a lot of these posts and I don't think that would come under "clear" liquids...maybe the next phase when you can add cream Soups etc....some people cannot tolerate the acidity either but hopefully you will get a more experienced answer soon. :-)
  12. Kami, I did the same thing with a letter and also added a photo for the same reason....got approval the next day! Praying for both of you!!
  13. At least they are not saying that you don't qualify fior medical reasons....it seems to just be about crossing t's and dotting i's the right way....good luck!
  14. What else do they want? Is there something you or your doctors can provide to help get approved? Just trying to help......
