  1. You've got it....I know first hand how a denial feels...AND I know prayers do help since my appeal was approved......so depressing seeing everyone else Celebrate while you are waiting....praying for you!!!
  2. Good luck!! I would say just have all of your questionnaires filled out if they gave you any ahead of time, be familiar with your history, and be confident in your belief that you deserve this surgery and a better quality of life...hopefully your surgeon is as helpful and friendly and talkative as mine is. Keep us posted!!
  3. I got approved yesterday verbally...just waiting on the written approval then will get my date set up!! YAY US!!
  4. Love the name! Makes me wonder what's in it...will have to google it, thanks!
  5. Hi, I was denied on Monday, filed my appeal yesterday and got approved today!!! I submitted a letter and a picture of me explaining why I want and need this surgery, some info about me, stressing my determination to do this and NOT fail. I also attached all of the medical records from the last six months....and it worked!! Hang in there, don't delay unless you have to for some reason...
  6. I was thinking about that as I started reading this, time will tell....lol
  7. Hey Suz, my appeal GOT APPROVED TODAY!!! Next step is to get a date!!! Thanks for all the encouragement!
  8. Yay!! Congrats! I JUST got approved today!!! Next step is to get a date set up too!
  9. Hi, I think the reason is that by the time people find this website, they have already checked out the options and determined that the sleeve is right for them.....that is the case for me. :-) I also have rheumatoid arthritis among other things, so my body turns on itself and attacks is own joints, so there is no way I could have a foreign apparatus installed.... I would be faced with pain, physical rejection and probably infections too....with the sleeve the only foreign objects are the tiny titanium staples which hopefully my body will adjust to quickly and ignore while it focuses on healing..... I also have to be able to take a variety of oral medications, and need them absorbed so the bypass was out, and the band could cause problems with my ability to take the meds too....the sleeve won't be a problem expect for the first few days when I will be on pain meds anyway. I also know myself and do not want something as easily manipulated as the lap band...I would just set myself up for failure if I had the band. Hope this helps answer your questions. Good luck on your journey!!

  13. GUESS WHAT?! I got a call from my insurance case worker at 5:45pm ET, and I GOT APPROVED!! Only one day into my appeal!!! My Dr office was already closed so I emailed them, asking for a date so I can make plans etc. The caseworker is going to fax an approval to them, then mail the official letter to both of us. Thanks again for your prayers, they worked!!! And so did all the advice I have found on this website. :-D
