Who Are You?
- Who Are You?
Chefrod2: I had the sleeve done as well as hiatel hernia removal/repair, and gallbladder removal....- Who Are You?
I had mine one week ago today (Wed) and I specifically asked everyone NOT to come and I think it was a good choice. I was in pain and/or on pain meds for the day of surgery, so as soon as I got a room assignment, my family said hi and bye, and left. Thursday was spent taking meds, going to xray for my swallow/leak test, walking with the physical therapist and nurses, trying to pee several times when they removed the catheter (if you don't pee, you don't go home...and I can't pee on command, lol), sleeping between nurses waking you up for vitals and shots,, and getting fluids down--learning to sip properly, meeting with the nutritionist...plus I had a very sore throat from all the tubes etc in there during the surgery.....oh and I had an IV and blood draw port in my neck because I was already dehydrating before surgery and they could not get a good vein in my arms! Friday, I met with the psychologist, nutritionist, physical therapist and then the dr who wrote the discharge orders. Then I called my friend to pick me up. I had very little time to socialize, and not getting a shower or feeling quite right, I did not even WANT to see anyone until after I got home, showered, got some real sleep....so much nicer receiving friends at home instead. :-) That is just my experience, it is different for everyone. My recovery is going very well with very little pain, I am very lucky! I am sore you will do very week too! Best of luck, keep us posted!- Any success stories for the 50's group?
I was sleeved last week on 6/26, surgery weight was 322, gained 11 pounds water weight in hospital, weighed 333 when released on Friday.lost all the water weight plus 8 more....tonight my weight is 314! I will be 50 on 9/28 and this is my early birthday gift to myself!! It was time to find "me" and take back control and ENJOY my new life!!- Autoimmune Issues and VSG?
I was sleeved 6/26 and have mod-severe RA, hypothyroid, planters faciitis, metabolic syndrome and sleep apnea. I am "pre-diabetic" and my cholesterals jump around.....I gained 11 pounds Water weight in hospital, surgery weight was 322, when released on Friday it was 333, as of tonight (Tuesday) I weigh 314!! Lost the water weight plus 8 more pounds in 4 days! That is crazy! So far I have not taken my RA or thyroid medicine, and have no related pains yet. I have a call into my PCP to ask if I can crush my synthroid, since pharmacist said to check with her on that one...so far no answer....I was told to wait a few weeks before I continue my Enbrel injector Pen, until my incisions heal, and I may have to switch to injectable methotrexate at that time since I take 8 tablets at once. I am hoping and praying my RA might actually go into remission like others have....I have had daily pain from it for 4.5 years since it hit, a break would be nice, lol.......I only take my surgical pain med at bedtime now and feel pretty "normal" all day, whatever that really means, lol...I get to drive tomorrow!! Going to see a movie -No popcorn or soda though!! Prior to surgery, I took all of meds up to the day before except the Enbrel and methotrexate.....I stopped them one week prior per my surgeons directions. So I have not had my RA meds for 2 weeks, with no problems so far, knock on wood.... I only had to do the pre-op diet for 2 weeks, but I did it for 3 weeks to get used to it. I had 2 Protein shakes during the day and one nutritious meal in the evening. I gave up sofas and caffeine then too. Had to wean myself off caffeine over a 2 week period prior to starting my pre op diet though, a little at a time to avoid withdrawal and headaches. I did not have a weight loss (amount of pounds) requirement luckily. How is everyone else doing with your autoimmune diseases post surgery? Any issues pre-surgery? Things you have to change? Questions? :-)- Autoimmune Issues and VSG?
I think we have one started right here :-)- June surgery dates
- Weight Gain After Surgery
Hi everyone, I was sleeved on 6/26 and released on 6/28....I gained 11 pounds in the hospital due to all the fluids!! But here it is Monday 7/1 and I have lost that 11 and 2 more!! I am getting the hang of tracking all my fluids and proteins, getting them all in at least.....I am 49 and will be a much healthier 50 in September!!!- Ive been approved!
Woo hoo!! Congrats! I got that call on 5/27, got scheduled on 6/3 and sleeved on 6/26....I choose to wait until after my son's lacrosse tournaments were over, to have mine, so I had to wait 2 extra weeks but it gave me time to be sure everything was lined up for after........GOOD LUCK!!!- Who Are You?
D--Sounds like you are doing great with both the mental AND physical weight changes!!! I know what you mean about being noticed by men....and not with disgusted looks on their faces, lol......honestly my main goal is to get healthier and back into an active lifestyle again, doing things I loved like dancing, running, swimming, horse back riding!! If love finds me during that time, great....I just hope I remember how to handle it, lol!! I am only a few days post op and live in Tampa, Fl. I have one child..a 15 yo son who has been my whole world since he was born, but I forgot about ME.....he is all for me getting healthier and happier, and wants me to have a nice boyfriend before he goes off to college in 3 years, lol, he does not want me to be lonely or alone....isn't that so sweet?- June surgery dates

Hi Damaris67, what point are you in on your journey? I felt the same way when I first joined but after posting in a couple of threads, I started getting replies and found a"sleeve buddy" who was sleeved the day before me and we have emailed everyday supporting each other and comparing statuses, etc....you will too, just hang in here.....most of the people here are very supportive!! Just ignore those who aren't,- no weight loss!
Thanks Christine! I just drank too much too fast, hurt so bad! My feet were still a bit swollen this afternoon, so I went for a 20 minute walk....tired but my stomach and feet feel better!! Swelling went down and liquids moved through, thank God! Thanks for your encouragement!!- no weight loss!
I gained 11 pounds in hospital due to the IV fluids! On surgery date Wed 6/26, I weighed 322, Released yesterday Fri 6/28 I weighed 333!! Been walking and sipping, and peeing....tonight my scale showed 330, down 3# in one day ....will keep going I know it will come off but the swollen feet at night, or after sitting a couple of hours REALLY bother me...anyone else have these problems?- June surgery dates
I use the gatorade G2 because it is lower in sodium, sugar, etc. but still tastes good.- June surgery dates
My dr and pharmacist both said that while taking the liquid pain killer Roxicet (hydro condone) do not take other pain killers including tylenol products and vicodin, or any sleep medicines like ambien, or sinus meds that make you sleepy like Benadryl......- June surgery dates

- Waiting on insurance approval!
Yay!! I know what you mean. I found out the thursday before memorial day, but had to wait till the Tuesday after to schedule mine! It was torture!! Then they could have done it on 6/17 but I wanted to wait until after my son's final lacrosse tournament this coming weekend.....so I have mine next week. Worth the wait though.....- I Want To See Before & After Pics!
