  1. Hang in there. I was banded in January and didn't have adequate restriction until May (5 fills later). Plus, I don't get initial restriction right after a fill. It takes a week to kick in, for me. Go figure. Give yourself grace. I am now losing about 8 pounds a month but for those first few months it was hardly anything. I too was quick to get frustrated because nobody told me this stuff. I feel for you. Catherine
  2. I had my band put in 1/31/2007. I still struggle with head hunger but I can only eat half (or less) of what I used to eat. My binges are nothing compared to what they used to be. I have lost about 80 pounds but know it would be more if I didn't give in to the head hunger. I still have cravings and struggle. I wish I knew how to reduce it but I just do the best I can, one day at a time. It helps to know others struggle with the same thing, though. Catherine
  3. Hello all January bandsters. This is my first post in this thread. I was just reading through some of the recent posts and decided I wanted to give an update. I have lost about 80 pounds since starting to lose weight prior to being banded. It has been a slow process but I continue to move downward. I tend to lose 6-8 pounds a month and I do walk at the gym 3 times a week. My band is very finicky. One day I can eat something and be fine, the next day I can eat the same thing and get sick. I have yet to truly eat pizza since being banded. I just scrape off the top and eat that!! People might think I am crazy but it works for me. I continue to struggle with head hunger at times and eating more than I should at one sitting. I have about 9CC in a 10CC band. I am very grateful for my band. I have gone from a size 30/32 to a size 22. I have more energy that ever before. I still have a long way to go but I just keep pressing on, one day at a time. It is nice to have support from other bandsters who are in a similar place. Catherine-Mo
  4. I hear your pain. I had sugery Jan. 31 and it was only after 5 (Yes-5) fills that I had any restriction. For the whole month of July I basically did not lose anything even though I was exercising and limiting my food intake. I finally did a high Protein, low carb (max 20mg) for 3 days to jump start my weight loss. Altogether I have lost 70 pounds so the weight does come off but just slower than we like. Hang in there! I know how difficult it can be sometimes. Catherine
