I couldn't get my wedding ring off for surgery. I'm looking forward to being able to clean it.

How much solids are you esting?
I'm glad you posted. I also agree that amount is too much. Probably a good idea to measure since your new tummy is rarin' to go

Cheese count protein?
Low fat cheeses may be ok, but again, I'd ask your NUT.

Swansons infused broths....yum!
Seafood! Now that sounds interesting. I suppose we could cook some veggies until mushy then blend them into the broth. Add egg to the Hot and Sour might be yummy. Adding yogurt could be good...

My husband is killing me!
My dr said no gum because a lot of sleevers swallow it, and your new tummy gets blocked and you have to have surgery to remove it. Not trying to be a downer, but don't want to see you hospitalized, either.

fresh roasted green chile
I'm dying. August kicks off green Chile season here in New Mexico, and chile roasters fill the road sides and markets. We bought some fresh roasted today and the family is eating them in hot buttered tortillas right now while I sip my liquid diet. Aaaarrrrgggghhhh.

Hi Cee, Yeah, I stopped the pain meds after Tuesday and used Tylenol for a couple of days. No pain meds now. My nausea is much better, too.

Back Fat
I hate back fat! Ick! Can't wait for it to be gone. Goes along with underarm fat and buffalo humps.

Swansons infused broths....yum!
I have been trying the new Swansons infused chicken broths. The Mexican Tortilla flavor is out of this world. Hot and Sour is good, too, but a bit much the first week after surgery lol. At last, liquid diet with flavor! They are very low calorie, low fat. Great for a pick me up.

This is such a great post, thanks Laura-ven...

Pre-op diet - it's making me question EVERYTHING - HELP!
Angela, pre-op is hard, but you've got to be strong. You can do it. Concentrate on other things....clothes, pets, gardening, whatever. Get out of your house and go somewhere different that has no food memories. This is just mho but I guess I'm one of the folks that thinks if you can't do the pre-op, then your chances of success with wls are maybe less than someone who does struggle through. The thing is, it's harder after surgery. You feel bad, you hurt, you have stalls, you might be nauseous, constipated or have diarrhea. There are lots of great things to look forward to, but it's rough starting out. As many others have said, wls is just a tool and you can gain the weight back. Good luck to you. Stick with it and do something wonderful for YOU.

Food, food, food ..
Ms. K, careful with the sonic slushees. I love them but found out the calories range up to 600 calories for a Rt 44! The slush mix has sugar, even if you cut your strawberries in half. http://m.sonicdrivein.com/Content/downloads/SonicNutritionGuide.xls

- headache
I have headaches too, sleeved on Monday. Had to take migraine pills twice. Seems to be getting better- 5 days post op GAS AND DIARRHEA
Me too. Day 5, gas, diarrhea, burping. It has gotten a little better each day, but ick, you know? Try GasX strips and Depends- Post op day 2, liquids hurt my sleeve!
I had the choking feeling, too. It might be related to the anesthesia. I have laryngitis too (day5). I found warm drinks easier than cold, and zero calorie Vitamin water or G2 mixed half and half with water to work best. Every day gets better.- Dr requires SF Instant Breakfast mixed with Beneprotein
Ick. I am majorly annoyed and need to vent. My doctor's office requires the liquid diet (for two weeks post op) to include 3 to 4 protein shakes a day made from 3 scoops unflavored Beneprotein and half a packet of sugar free carnation instant breakfast. I'm at the end of day five and having trouble getting down one more disgusting drink. I spent a month trying all the protein out there and loaded up on the ones I liked. I was thinking, no prob, I can do this! Now I have to drink this nauseating concoction instead of the protein drinks I like. The nurse said I couldn't switch because if something came up, they need to know exactly what I've been having. Poor me! Play the violin...... - headache
