Dementia and carbs?
This article is powerful stuff. The more we learn about carbohydrates and their role in our diet, the scarier it gets. American diets have changed from when I was a girl in the 60's. Back then, portions were much smaller, we had "balanced" meals (Protein, veg, starch), and dessert was a rare thing. Soda was a treat to be enjoyed by itself, not a daily beverage. You'd go and have a coke with someone. It was an event. When you went to restaurants, you weren't presented with an endless basket of rolls or biscuits or breadsticks prior to your meal. Diabetes was rare and being overweight was the exception not the rule. We had recess and PE in school. We drank whole milk and ate butter on everything. We ate bacon. We had peanuts at the ball game and popcorn at the movies, not nachos, or jumbo burgers with fries, or fried oreos. Things have changed slowly but surely and today's diet is certainly different than it used to be. It makes you wonder.

Stalled..So frustrating
Just be patient. Only weigh once a week or less. Get in your fluids and protein. Stalls are horrid, but you'll get through. Do something nice for yourself, get a mani pedi or a massage

Family coming with me to Tijuana
Avenida Revolucion is the shopping street, lots of fun stores and good restaurants. Ask for bottled Water or drink bottled sodas. It's pretty safe, but don't go wandering on side streets and don't go at night. I'd ask the hotel about taxi service - they can probably recommend safe taxis or have a driver from the hotel take you (some taxi drivers are part of the kidnapping/ransom rings). I have not stayed at the Marriott in TJ but I lived in California for 45 years and spent a good amount of time over the border.

Walking. Alot... Dog losing more than me!
When I can't finish eating something (most of the time) I'm afraid my dogs get the leftovers, too. Took the dogs out for a long walk yesterday. After 1/4 mile our old girl just sat down and wouldn't move until I headed back to the car, where she was very happy to rest while I walked another few miles with our hyper Catahoula Lab mix. They love all this walking.

Wow! That's awesome! Congratulations on a wonderful accomplishment.

Popcorn
Yes one day you can have it again. Wait for the OK from your dr first, as it could cause some serious problems before you are healed. Also, it is a slider, so be sure to measure the amount for your serving and don't eat more than that.

That is just amazing! You have done a tremendous job. Wow! Wish i had some suggestions for you, I still eat too fast, too. I like ginger tea and licorice tea for indigestion.

Losing interest in food
Z, this is entirely normal. Eventually your appetite will return. Just keep getting in your protein and liquids. Your losses will show soon, just be patient and realize that many people only lose a pound or two a week. Not everyone loses 3-4 lbs a week. Keep up the good work!

Normal, Normal, Normal!
Misty, congrats! that's wonderful!

Anyone throw up after a protein shake?
They make me nauseous and give me the runs sometimes. I still use them a couple of times a week tho. Convenient. LOL.

Struggling to keep weight on?
Might be a good idea to make an appt with your doctor, run some tests, talk to the nut, visit a theraptist, etc. IMHO you sound like you may need professional help now, not just our two cents. Good luck to you.

How much and when?
Don't kid yourself. Your hard work is making a big difference. People who eat sliders and drink too many Caramel Lattes don't get results like you are seeing. Congrats and keep it up!

anyone tried skin tightening treatments - RF, Viora, Thermage...
I have been reading about a number of relatively new skin tightening treatments. Many of them use Radio Frequency (RF) and/or light treatments. Some product names are: Viora Thermage Ulthera Some of the before and after pix are pretty interesting: http://www.thermage.com/consumer/what-to-expect/therm Was wondering if anyone here had tried these procedures and what the results were.

PB2
I'm surprised you didn't find it in search. It's popular. You can add it to shakes, of course, but it's also tasty by itself mixed with a touch of water to make a paste. Makes a good Asian peanut dip or sauce. Nice added to chicken stock for African style chicken soup.

How much and when?
I was a slow loser. I lose around 2 lbs a week. Been pretty consistent from the beginning. Only lost 10 lbs the first month.
