  1. I went from a 20W to a size 8 in a year
  2. Has anyone not felt much restriction with liquids or yogurt? I was sleeved 11 days ago and I have no problems with drinking 64 ounces a day in addition to eating a full yogurt over 15 minutes. My weight loss has been good ...16lbs in 11 days. I just worry that maybe I've stretched my sleeve or something is wrong with it???? Will I feel the restriction when I start eating soft foods?

    Restriction

Thanks so much guys. I was starting to feel there's something wrong even though I saw the swallow study and saw how small my new stomach is!
  4. Hi everyone. I was sleeved on Monday and initially had a hard time getting dirty ounces in. Now, though I've had no trouble eating 6 oz broth fairly quickly. Is this normal? Does the restriction really become apparent when you start eating?
  5. Is anyone else in the same situation? My BMI is 41.7, but I'm only 5 feet tall. A matter of 8-10 lbs will knock me below 40. I have to do a 6 month weight management pre-op program in which my weight is not supposed to go up any. I have no comorbidities, as far as the insurance is concerned. My former insurance accepted my diagnosis of sleep apnea as well as tested me for CPAP which I needed. When I switched carriers Jan 1, the new carrier says it's not significant enough and will not pay for CPAP (go figure)! I am very nervous that I will do my 6 months and fluctuate in weight or that even though my BMI will be above 40 with no comorbidity according to them, they won't approve. Anyone else been in this situation?? I worry because I can fluctuate easily between 10 and 15 lbs. HELP!!
  6. unfortunately they look at weight from initial consult and then every month therafter until the 6 months is finished. If you drop below BMI 40 during any of those months, they wont cover
  7. Just check with your insurance regarding reqrements. I'm in the same boat. BMI is 41.7 and I'm 5 feet tall. A matter of a few lbs can easily change your BMI. My carrier requires a weight each month for the 6 month program and looks at your starting and finishing weight. If you fall below a BMI of 40 at any point during the 6 months, they wont cover
  8. My program fee is $525 but that is charged by the weight management center; not the surgeon's office. Where I live in Allentown,PA it's two surgical groups from which you can choose, but you utilize the same 6 month weight management program with all the usuals involved: nutritionist, support group, behavioral health specialist and classes. Fortunately for me, I work in the same health system and receive wellness dollars of which I can submit this fee back to at the end of the program and get my money all back.
  9. My BMI is currently 40 and has hovered around the 39.5 mark the last year. The previous 5 years, however, my BMI has been closer to 35-36. I have no comorbidities, but am being tested for sleep apnea in a few weeks. I have Highmark BS and they require a 2 year history of "severe obesity". Anyone else encountered this or have experience with how strict they are about the 2 year history?
  10. I ended up being tested and I have sleep apnea requiring CPAP. My insurance also changed. I have a BMI of 41 now, but also have the one comorbidity of sleep apnea if my BMI drops below 40. I see the weight management nurse practicioner tomorrow for my first visit to start my 6 month supervised program. Wish me luck!!!

  12. Anyone with highnark bc vs? How strict are they about 2 yr history? The insurance policy reads 2 yr history of severe obesity. My bmi is just now 40. Last five years its been in the 35-39.5 range. Anyone have a similar experience with this? And I have no çomorbidities
