  1. I was banded on June 19th and I had a very similar burning hot fire type of a pain on the port side. From what the surgeon said it has to do with the location of the port in proximity to a nerve ie. the port is resting on a nerve. This pain should subside, mine finally has calmed down a bit. Good luck!!

    Banded Bikers II

The medical director of my program mentioned that the surgeon will probably not want me riding my bike for quite awhile. What have other people done or been told? Thanks!

    Banded Bikers II

Anyone out there ride a sport bike? Interested to know if the port is uncomfortable when leaning over the tank? Or if you can even feel it? Thanks!

    A thread for Single Bandsters

Well, my name is Melinda and I am new to this whole scene. I will be 32 in two weeks, in fact one day before I get banded. Am single and have been with the exception of one terrible relationship, for most of my adult life. I have always blamed my weight as the reason men don't pay attention to me. When they do look my way, my thought is always "they can't possiblely looking at me". It is amazing the way that weight can grab a hold of your life if you let it. I am excited about the surgery, but at the same time scared. The last time I was down in size was when I met the asshole. So they are warning me at the program that something we need to prepare for is that with weight loss comes new types of attention we may not be accoustomed to. Well whatever the case may be, thanks to this forum, I am able to have this surgery knowing there there are people like me to chat with. Honestly, finding this site has been the best part of this process so far!

    ....scared.....

I feel your pain, my surgery is scheduled for 6/19 and while for the most part I have been so excited for this change, the last few days I have been having some second thoughts. I am afraid of letting go of the eating that I have come to enjoy. Food has been a major stress outlet for me and I am trying to figure out what I am going to do without it! I am still positive I am going to go through with the surgery, but just struggling with the forever change.
  6. Be strong! The four weeks prior, while challengeing, has helped to put me in the right mindset as well as to jump start on weight loss. In week one, I dropped 10 lbs alone. I know this liquid regime will contimue after the surgery, but I am now prepared for it and will appreciate the food when I can eat again, in any quantity.
  7. The plan I am on requires me to be on a four week 960 cal Optifast program prior to surgery.
