  1. Congratulations!! Post some before and after pics
  2. I was having problems also and a friend who had the sleeve brought me shakes from target by EAS AdvantEdge carb control they come in vanilla, chocolate, strawberry. Only 17g but they are so light also no sugar at all. Anything with the slightest sugar has a hard time going down. Which is fine for me because sugar was my down fall and is what made me fat. So I believe this surgery will be a success.
  3. I was like you doubting and like you I have a son that I wanted to make sure I would be around for a long time for at the rate I was going I didn't see that happening if I didn't do something about it. You have to have faith in god and your doctor. There's a reason why god has brought you to this point in life. These doctors do this all the time. You will be fine! It's not that bad the hardest part is not being able to eat all that bad stuff that brought us to where we are now. I've learned to appreciate food now and when the day comes that I can eat normal again I'm going to savor every bite just enough to satisfy my craving and not over indulge.
  4. I know I shouldn't right now but I've also been able to taste smashed pinto beans and homemade guacamole. Maybe because Im almost to the purée stage. Does anyone know if Avocado is ok in the purée stage?
  5. Okay so Today is my 9th day post op and before It took me all day to drink a whole 16 oz bottle of water. Now I can take drinks like nothing I take it slow but feel like I probably drink it all in less than 30 mins. Is this normal??
  6. It didn't feel heavy just tasted terrible
  7. I don't think there's anything wrong with telling anyone about the surgery. I mean its No ones business and you don't have to tell the world but when you are out of work for a while coworkers are going to ask and l have no problem discussing it. People who've had the surgery have told me they keep it a secret because they don't want people to think they failed if the weight doesn't come off as fast. For me it makes it more challenging and I feel having the support of family and friends makes me more likely to stay on path for my goal.
  8. I have that same feeling but one of my scars is just above my belly button so sure if its from that.
  9. Try to stay strong. It's not the end of the world. I am on the 8th day it's been hard but I have to check myself when I see others eating good food or all these commercials on TV. I tell myself I've had 33 years of eating all that stuff and enjoyed every bite. You are going to be able to eat again right now give your body a break to get healthy and when you are able to eat you will truly appreciate the taste and not over eat because you'll look in the mirror and see how good you luck and be thankful for your new body. Foods not going anywhere so take it one day at a time
  10. Thanks I did try that took a few sips and an hour later got a huge headache
  11. The hospital gave me 1 oz cups and said to drink 4 an hr. 15 min in between each cup. Sipping slowly
  12. I only had to do the liquid diet the day before and I'm fine. I know they want you to shrink your liver but everyone I know here with Kaiser only do it the day before. I so would of changed my mind about the surgery if I had to do that! Thankfully we only had to do a 1200 calorie diet 2 weeks before to learn to eat less. So I would say if you are going to cheat make a wise choice on what you eat.
  13. How soon are you supposed to eat protein bars? I am 5 days post op. A friend of mine who had the surgery last year let me try a couple she ordered online called chocolite.
  14. It's my 5th day post op and am having trouble drinking protein. I feel like I can feel it going down then hits my stomach like a ton of bricks and hurts. Water and broth is fine just sipping though
  15. I know exactly how you feel. Try your best not to be alone. Keep yourself busy, busy that's all I can say we are normal still we just can't eat like others right now. I think about how much better I will look like in a year or sooner. That keeps me going.
  16. They are good classes to prepare you for your new lifestyle and make you decide whether or not you want to go through with the procedures. Pay lots of attention because all of that info will help you after the procedure once its done its kinda like now what.
  17. I also relate to your experience. I woke up from anasthesia hungry and grumpy then the pain kicked in I have a high tolerance of pain so I was ok until I came home. My incisions itch and are swallow. I hate going to bed because I can't get comfortable and it's painful to get up. My stomach growls every second. I'm also barely able to drink a whole 16 oz water bottle all day.
  18. Try sugarfree jello I had some for dinner. It was nice to eat something instead of drinking.
  19. I think it's different for everyone after surgery I was still hungry and grumpy it lasted a while until they bring you your tray with broth, tea, diet juice. You'll be thankful for anything and be shocked how little you can eat. Good luck
  20. Just take it easy on the liquids and switch it up keep a water bottle in every room and take sips also take sips of different types of flavors of diet snapple. Get the sugar fee Popsicles munch on those when everyone else is eating. Yesterday was the toughest for me my family had all kinds of good Mexican foods, sweets I was good though and sipped on broth. It kind of grossed me out how I seen my family go for 2nd and 3rd helpings because that would of been me eating all of that and gaining all the weight.
  21. I also had surgery on the 25th and stayed longer because my white blood cells were high and my heartbeat was low. Thankfully Im ok now and home. I was starving after the surgery coming off of the anesthesia and grumpy my stomache still growls but my head is telling me not to eat. I'm sore and still trying to drink all my fluids. A couple of times I've gotten depressed so I just get up and walk around outside. Try to surround yourself with loved ones and try not to seclude yourself.
  22. This is my 4th day post op and have to start my protien today.
  23. Does anyone know if the total lean shakes from GNC are safe to drink?
