Surgery scheduled 7/17...does anyone else have Fibro, Rheumatoid Arthritis & Depression?
Gosh, there's all kinds of things I wanna say. In the end , this surgery is for YOU. There are always people who will say don't do this. There ARE risks involved, it's that way with any surgery. If you need to have your main supporters got to the doc with you to help them understand why this is a good choice, then take them. I had to take my husband with me. He then finally relented and supported me. I'm 3 weeks out and I was soooo scared right before I went in. I was having second thoughts about it. Do I really need it? Can I really not do this the old fashion way and diet? What if something goes wrong? It went on and on. And then after surgery I seriously had the regrets!. I HURT! But I also had had an umbilical hernia repaired and a sprained neck from the way I pulled myself up in bed. Now, I'm 22 pounds down and I can now see my jaw line because my neck has shrunk. I'm down a size in jeans, I don't have to stretch out my shirts after I get them on so that they aren't skin tight..... I can't really eat yet. I'm still trying to find food that I can enjoy. What I can eat, is done in tiny quantities. I'm still getting most of my Protein from liquids. There are pros AND cons to this procedure. It should be up to you as to if this is for you or not..... If you need to stop hanging around those people until you figure it out, then do. Good luck, hun. ((hugs))

What to expect post op?
I was in a ton of pain but that is because I had hernia repair. I slept in my recliner for a while. Getting down Protein was hard for me. I could stand the taste of several different brands even though I could drink them before hand. I would suggest getting everything ready at home before surgery. Get several brands of protein. If you are an ice person, get some before hand and have it ready. Ask if you will have prescriptions going home and if you can get them ahead of time. good luck

regret mode
I'm right there with ya. As much as I hate my Protein drink, It is hard for me to get down the solids. Something I have learned about my body is that have to burp either between each 'bite' or every couple. I forgot one time that I wasn't supposed to drink right after eating and that caused air to get caught and I threw up. Good luck.

Had to do it:(
Yup, day 5 I had 2 small doses of MOM. I haven't needed to use it again. And I'm 3+ weeks out

Miserable
I'm know it REALLY sucks those first couple of days. It DOES get better. Every day will be easier. It will be easier to accept our new lives. I'm only 3 weeks out and while some days are very frustrating I wouldn't change it. :0)

This whole eating thing is hard......
I agree about it starting to be a 'chore'. I now know eating to live, not living to eat.

Who else had an umblilical hernia repaired while getting sleeved?
I am really beginning to hate this hernia repair. I am 3 weeks out and still sore from the #$%^&* thing! Then I go and catch myself from a fall and hurt the $%^&* thing this morning! If you had this, how long did it take for you to heal? Sincerely, Frustrated Belly Button

What are you doing week 1 post op?
One week post op I was in my recliner asleep. I came home with a sleeve, an umbilical hernia and a severely sprained neck. I was still on T3 and major muscle relaxers. I slept several times a day AND all night. I didn't start to really become coherent till the middle or end of the second week... 3 weeks out and my neck is still sore and so is the repaired hernia, which I JUST strained catching myself from a fall this morning. UGH! :0)

first day on pre op liquid diet and I have a really bad headache
I had the nastiest headaches also. It was the no yummy carbs, no soda, no coffee that did me in.... It does get better.

I'm 3 weeks out and am very, very uncomfortable when I wake but I also had an umbilical and hiatal hernia repaired.

This whole eating thing is hard......
OK, I know it was my fault to begin with, but it is frustrating: I am just getting to soft mushy foods. I tried tuna with pickles and mayo and melba toast. I was hungry AND rushed. Not a good combo, it all came up...... Moral of the story: go slow when eating........

Tummy tuck without muscle tightening
I had an umbilical hernia repaired with my sleeve and did not even feel the pain from the sleeve. I will be 3 weeks out tomorrow and I still am pretty sore from the hernia repair. It hit my lower abs like no one's business. I can't even begin to imagine what it would be like to have the muscles tightened!

Fiber help plesse
First: what has your doc said? Second: We aren't eating near as much as we used to and so the amount coming out will be considerably less. Is all that MOM causing consistent diarrhea? If you flush everything out one day it seems as though it would take at least a day to fill up again. I'm only 2+ weeks out and everything I have read here says that poops are a lot less. Now are ya not poopin' much or is it that the poop you would get with out the MOM rock solid or not coming out at all?
