  1. My second week actually started last Friday and today is Monday... Oh, well. My biggest accomplishment today is that I waited till bedtime to use my muscle relaxants and codeine. My sprained neck is almost completely healed! That has been the most painful part of this surgery. I found that I now have thrush all over my tongue. I will sooo be talking to the doctor in the morning. I found that I am sleeping a TON! I'm lucky my mom and mother-in-law are helping me. Today I slept till 1:30! Such a luxury. I did do some cleaning and laundry but I found it hard to vacuum and the laundry is heavy. Oh, and the whole bending over thing is not easy. I'm still drinking protein drinks, ramen with protein, a little bit of greek yogurt, cottage cheese, and a big cheat with a scrambled egg. The cheats happened when I was getting desperate and needed away to take my medicine or get in somekind of protein. The hardest thing for me to get down is the yogurt. I have to use very small amounts. I've lost almost fifteen pounds now. I can't wait for the umbilical hernia to repair so that I can start sit ups. My stomach is still really swollen and not using my stomach has my lower back aching.
  2. walking and gas strips..... I know the plane was needed, but it probably didn't help at all. Good luck!
  3. oh dear! I feel your pain. The first couple of days home I couldn't drink enough. I HAD to have gasx before drinking anything. My mom and kids were on stand by to 'burp' mom! Yes, they were my burpers. If it was to cold, i got a stomach cramp. Too warm, I got stomach cramps. I would barely sip, walk around the living room. Sip again, walk around the living room...... It does get easier. If you have any painkillers, take them and then drink.... Good luck.
  4. The protein is by Jay Robb, it's unflavored, whey isolate, 26g per serving and I bought it at The Vitamin Shoppe.
  5. I have finally found a clear liquid I can drink AND enjoy! I loved Ramen noodles before the sleeve. I didn't eat them much but I DID enjoy them. So now I take the flavor packet, a big scoup of unflavored protein(26g), and 2 cups of Water and enjoy. I also like it because when everyone else is eatting a very yummy and delicious smelling dinner, I have my own option.
  6. I did have the hernias removed. The area they were located hurt worse than the area they went through for the sleeve. I could keep down liquids. It seems as though I slept all the time due to the pain meds. and didn't drink much....... I wish my insurance would have allowed to go to a different facility, but I HAD to be at a certain hosp.
  7. My favorite clear liquid is the seasoning packet from a package of Ramen noodles in 2 cups of hot water. I add a scoop of non-flavered protein and I'm ready to go! I also love this because when everyone else is eating I feel as though I'm getting real food also.
  8. I so understand where you are coming from. I was sleeved on the 7th. I also had a hiatal hernia and 2 umbilical hernias. I left the hospital a little dehydrated and with a sprained neck. My worse pain came from the umbilical hernias. I sprained my neck getting either into or outta bed using my arms to either push my around or pull me up in bed. I have slept in my recliner since I got home. And it was my general practitioner that told me my neck was sprained. I have sooooo had buyer's remorse but it is getting better. On the 6th day I was finally able to get in all my fluids and about half of the Protein. I still have neck pain, but that is going away. I'm finally able to start seeing the end of the pain. I have to say I really love not being hungry ALL the time. Good luck folks. It's hard and painful but it does get better. You'll wake up one day not needing pain meds and then you'll be able to conquer the world!

Ok, so I have had this still present neck pain since Saturday. Last night I started to freak myself out thinking of all the most awful worst case senarios it could be. I REALLY need to stay off of the internet when I'm sick and don't feel well. I went to my general practitioner this morning and I wasn't still dehydrated, or needed more protein, or needed to walk more, I had pulled my neck muscles. Not the muscles that run from spine towards shoulder, but the ones that attach to that hollow spot on the back of your skull where your spine attaches. I still hurts to turn my head more 2 inches to either side or up and down. It hurts to swallow because of the muscles involved. It just hurts.... but now there is an end in sight. Then I will be able to just concentrate of healing my surgical sight.
  10. I sooo understand where you are coming from! I hope you get better soon...... I have liked the taste of plain water the best so far, but my stomach likes a little chrystal lite added to the water and for it to be room temp. :O/ good luck!

OK, so the reason my head has wanted to pop off is because I'm dehydrated to the extreme. I was originally led to believe that the reason my pain in my head was so bad was because of gas pain. (I just resalized that I left the hospital in this state!) When I finally called my doctor again yesterday, another person said it was because of lack of water and protein..... Well, I saw that I had hope and there WAS light at the end of the tunnel. I drank so much yesterday evening and had 15 oz of protein. So, Now it is 4:30 am my time and for the first time I was able to get outta bed on my own, or rather off the couch. This is the first time I've been able to do this. I just took some pain meds and lots of water. I can finally see a brighter future! Oh, did I mention I walked so much yesterday that my stomach and lower back hurt? I wish I had a prego band...... )
  12. what protein are you drinking? I can't find anything yummy.
  13. if someone says this is easy i will personally beat the living crud out of them! but it will have to wait till my head isnt gonna pop off....
  14. walk people walk. The gas pain is sooooo intense it's CRAZY! I thought gas pain would just be in the abdomen. nooooooooooooooo For me, it has gone to my neck, on the right side, to make a headache so intence that it is worse than my migranes. It hurts to swallow. It hurts to touch. i'm on incredibly gross tylenol3 every 4 hours.... It doesn't last long enough at all.

I had a sleeve and hernia repair on Friday June 7th. The day of my surgery the kept me in recovery because my bloodpressure had gone through the roof. The only thing I remember was saying was ow,ow,ow! I spent 2 nights in the hospital. I truely believe that if I hadn't had the hurnia repair my life would have been soooo much easier.I have been in an incredible amount of pain. to top it off I pulled a muscle in my neck. I walk, take tylenol 3, gas pills and my gross crushed pills. I try to take my protein, but my stomach cramps at the thought. crystal light is my friend. time for another nap.....
