  1. Uh... A few days out and you want to (even partially) load up on carbs? Stick with what you were told to do...and I'm sure it wasn't Mac and cheese and /or potatoes.

Okay... I'm moving on to another thread. Have fun.

Haha ok little b***h where did I EVER say I want to "load up" on carbs? You've had the sleeve done so you damn well know the most a person can eat 2 weeks post opp is a spoonful or two. No one wants to be on a liquid diet forever. Cut your bs trying to lowkey fat shame people when you should be giving helpful advice like you weren't big as a house at one point. Please.

Your nasty comment was not asked for and no one wants your negative comments on their threads like what's the point of you being on this app? I suggest you becareful with what you say to people online. Be very careful.

So, name calling followed by a threat?

Huh. Merry Christmas to you. ;)

  2. @@PhillyAj, yes, you don't want to go to the hospital and the BP wrist cuff (I never knew there is a wrist cuff) may be wrong -- but you don't know if it is. Your having your own cuff makes me think that you have a specific health concern, while your questions make me think you have no professional-level medical knowledge beyond knowing that 197/107 is particularly high.

If I were you I'd call my surgeon's office and give the details to the answering service and tell them I'm then heading to the ER. I'd proceed then to the hospital. You're only a few days out of surgery with wild BP. Walk away from your computer and stop delaying.

Not to mention vaginal bleeding whether it is or is not related to the IUD. Call you gyn's office, too. You're not supposed to be bleeding from the vagina if it isn't your period. Get moving.

I have been messaging her and helping her. Her BP is back down to normal range last time I asked her to check it.

There are many ways to take a BP actually. :) Wrist, arm, leg, etc.. and with an IUD you usually have irregular bleeding as it is and she is probably used to that if she has had the iud for some time. I told her if her BP goes up again she needs to go to the hospital. She is most likely slightly dehydrated and could attempt to help herself by continuing to drink Water. I'm gonna keep messaging her and making sure she is okay.

Should you be sharing her medical information on a public website? Should you even be dispensing medical advice to a stranger on a message board?

@@Alex Brecher , this is concerning.

She shared her own medical information in the above posts. I am not googling answers for this lady. I went to school for 4 years to be a nurse. I think I have the right to tell this lady if she should worry or not. Thanks for your concern

Anyone can be anything on the internet. :) No offense intended but I do hope she's consulting with someone who knows her complete medical history and does not post it publicly. What she shares is one thing, what you reshare is questionable and most likely professionally unethical if you are a licensed health care provider.

  4. You've made it this far, you can do it. How many more days until you are allowed mushies? Have you tried egg drop or miso Soup for a change? How about strained bean soup?

As @@Sai said above, you are still healing. Your good health is worth much more than a few bites of ANYTHING before your body is ready.

Chew some gum, brush your teeth, rinse with Listerine (the nastiest liquid on earth), use those nasty Listerine strips -- nothing tastes good after that. Helped me make it through for sure...

  5. Regardless if you lie or keep it a secret, people will figure out what happened after you lose a whole bunch of weight very quickly. A woman in my office said she had her "galbladder" removed, then proceeded to drop about 100 lbs in six months. No one was fooled.

I recommend telling your boss the truth, but asking them to keep it private. Show your boss that you have a level of trust with them. Other people will eventually figure it out on their own.

No one figured out mine. ;)
How do you know what they say when you are not around?

    Why would I care? :D

Oh! And I am self employed so there is no Water cooler chatter about me that I know of. ;)

  7. Who or what are you exactly "cheating"? :)

It's a terrible CHOICE and I'm ashamed that I am thinking about that heart shaped salami in the freezer I'm serving for our gathering New Years eve. My 19 year old daughter set the bar high she was sleeved 11/14 and has been a perfect saint Lol it's the same choices that got me into this!

YAY!! You totally GET me.

That said, I do high protein/fat, low carb, so I, too, have heart shaped salami in my fridge and in my belly. Love it.

    But yes. It's all a choice. :)

  8. You sound like someone who would argue against bariatric surgery because I should be able to "ACT like an adult" and just eat less. Do you like it when people tell you that?

Many, many addicts, alcoholics, smokers, etc. are simply told to stop and are given no more than counseling and many succeed.

We are given the added bonus of a great tool via variatric surgery to ensure our success if we use it right.

It's was my opinion that I could do anything for 3-4 weeks to cleanse my system, retrain my brain, and focus on my future good health. And no, I've never argued against WLS. I'm 3.5 years out and maintaining beautifully.

I was simply giving you MY opinion of your perspective. Please don't put your words in my mouth simply because you feel differently. :)

  9. I was on a 3 week liquid diet pre-op. I think this is an unreasonable demand to put on someone who has had weight problems their whole life. I wish my surgeon's office treated me like an adult and worked with me on plan where I could eat a small, reasonable amount of real food.

This is an interesting perspective for sure.

Is it also unreasonable to expect a smoker to stop smoking pre-op? Is it unreasonable to expect a drunk driver to quit cold turkey or face jail time? How about a drug addict? Should they be given a "drug allowance" in rehab?

My surgeon not only treated me like an adult, but he expected me to ACT like an adult. I followed my pre op diet for a month and I didn't stray. This didn't make me "more" or "superior" to anyone who chooses a different path. It simply helped me prove to myself that I was ready for such a drastic surgery and that I was committed to my own success.

  10. Seven layer dip with red peppers (or a spoon!).

    Browned ground beef

    Retried Beans

    Chunky salsa

    cheese

    Onions

    Bake until bubbly.

    Top with:

    Sour cream

    Guacamole

    cheese

    Yum!!!!!

Thanks can't wait to try! I'm 3 weeks post op starting soft food today...what week do you recommend this?

Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

When your doctor clears you for it. :) Not being a smart ass, but every plan is different. I was about 6-8 weeks in before I could have the above.

  11. Nothing that comes in a can is really that good anyway. Seriously. It's habit. You will be able to eat anything you want again next holiday season, but you will eat it in teeny portions and while wearing a MUCH smaller size. Focus on how awesome it will feel to fit into booths, wear single digit sized pants, shop anywhere you want...

    It's ALL worth it.

  12. Oh Lipstick Lady...if only I had seen ur post before I posted. Now I have to fell shi**y about not being "nice" and taking the bare. Damn.

Now if I really want to get the Mary Poppins "politeness" squad on my butt I should go an mention this post in "rants and raves".

    Huh?

Don't drag me into this one, please! I'm don't do name calling and personal attacks? Nope. Debate the subject not the people.

  13. I'm not supposed to be eating. And I know that but I find it hard not to. I'm eating pretty much whatever.

Sent from my SM-N920P using the BariatricPal App

So basically you decided that ignoring your doctor's instructions and eating a week after major surgery is OK and you came here to find people who agree? Great.

Your insurance paid for this surgery because you are morbidly obese. If you can't follow simple medical instructions to prevent serious post operative problems I m not going to waste my time on you.

But, before I BLOCK you, unless you are well bent on killing yourself I suggest you get some psychiatric counseling ASAP.

So I understand people telling me that what I have done is not right and I need to stop and do right and I apperciate that. But I didn't get on here to be talked to rudely and be judged. So in words of my mamaw if you ain't got nothing nice to say don't say anything at all. ☺. I have done nothing to offend.
