Every time I went to the doctor, the first thing out of his mouth was that my weight was causing the problem.... I could go in with a cold and he would blame it on my weight!. I got sick of it.

I think you should try everything before committing to the surgery. That way, all doubts are removed. i did last ditch try at things i had failed at before - weight watchers, nutrisystems, that hormone drops thing and seeing a counselor. I even visited an eating disorders clinic...lol. Wow, between that combo I think I gained net about 20 pounds.
The sleeve has changed my life in a way that none of those could help me with.
It has still been work. I took all that dedication I poured into every crazy ass diet or program I ever tried and applied it to my life as a sleever and it has been awesome. I feel like a whole new woman. Well really, I am about half the woman I once was.

lextran500 got a reaction from melodymouse in Still feeling weak after 3 weeks
I was sleeved on 4-3 and I am feeling really good with energy..... I still have some pressure in my sturnm area once in a while, but overall good.
I have been walking 2+ miles per day since release from the hosptial. My Dr has me on all Clear Liquids for 2 weeks and then I go to liquids for 2 weeks and then pureed food for 4 weeks before I can have anything solid. I am suprised that you can have crab cakes 3 weeks post op. All I have been tasting is liquid. No weird changes yet.
I was not able to get much Protein yet.... I have been doing 4 oz of liquid New Whey Protein Drink per day.... 42 grams of protein per day is better than nothing..... I am most likely going back to work 3 weeks post op.

You are going to get a myriad of answers on this board about alcohol. They are going to range from YOLO to never again. Your Dr. and your nutritionist are going to weigh in on it as well. I think that the general consensus is to wait 4-6 months even a year in come cases before drinking. Some here start back much sooner than others. There's also a group like myself that has committed to getting as healthy as possible and has decided that I can do without alcohol until the time that I have gotten myself to my goal. Alcohol, for me, was a trigger food. Start with a few cocktails, get some food down, get a few more cocktails in so on and so forth. It's important to know a couple of things, first, you have a lot smaller stomach so the alcohol is going to hit you way faster and reasonably harder than it would otherwise. secondly, alcohol is hard on the stomach in general. You have a pretty delicate sleeve going early on, so the longer you let that heal, the better off you are going to be long term. Lastly, give some thought to why you had the surgery to begin with and try and connect the dots to any habits that you had in the past that might deter your success. If alcohol played a role in that, like it did for me, then would it not be in your best interest to just let it go? Good luck in what ever you decide.
