    Heart burn

This is pretty common.... It has been about 1 yr for me.... No lasting issues. I do take stomach meds every day, but did that prior to the surgery. Hang in there
  2. Every time I went to the doctor, the first thing out of his mouth was that my weight was causing the problem.... I could go in with a cold and he would blame it on my weight!. I got sick of it.

    Success

I had my Gastric Sleeve surgery on April 3, 2013.... Today is August 4, 2013. I have lost a total of 102 lbs. I am blown away along with everyone who knows me. I started at 325lbs and now in just a little over 16 weeks, I am at 223lbs. NOTHING SHORT OF INCREDIBLE! I did want to share what I feel were 2 keys to my success for anyone thinking of having the surgery..... #1 biggest thing... Exercise.. even if I is 20 minutes a day.... Since a week after my surgery, I have worked out approx. 45-60 minutes a day-- walking 1-2 miles on the treadmill and then upper body weights lot of reps.... #2, a very supportive wife. She was and is there with me every step of the way....but has not smothered... she was there to listen and offer suggestions when I asked for them. She made everything feel really normal, when in reality, she was seeing me melt away and likely was a little panicked. .My journey has been a little mentally challenging.... I was surprised that I am never hungry... I need to remind my self to eat--- PROTINE, PROTINE, PROTINE!!!! It is a must!!!! Hydrate--- a lot of water is needed every day. I had a couple of days where I got dehydrated and had the symptoms. It is a change of life, you have to learn how to live differently...... But I have absolutely NO REGRETS! Good luck to anyone that takes the leap. It is quite a wild ride!
  5. No nausea, no pain.... except that I had gas traped under my rib cage that went up through my left chest and out the back of my shoulder blade (You get a lot of attention in recovery when you wake up yelling about massive chest pain)..... I was in the hospital an extra day and the chest pain lasted for 5 days. Other tthan that, no complications... no feeling of a void in my midsection. Again, everyone is different..... Good luck! It is all worth it.
  6. I was sleeved on 4-3 and I am feeling really good with energy..... I still have some pressure in my sturnm area once in a while, but overall good. I have been walking 2+ miles per day since release from the hosptial. My Dr has me on all clear liquids for 2 weeks and then I go to liquids for 2 weeks and then pureed food for 4 weeks before I can have anything solid. I am suprised that you can have crab cakes 3 weeks post op. All I have been tasting is liquid. No weird changes yet. I was not able to get much protein yet.... I have been doing 4 oz of liquid new whey protein drink per day.... 42 grams of protein per day is better than nothing..... I am most likely going back to work 3 weeks post op.
