sleeved on 1/27/2014 food tastes so gross
I'm also most 10 months out. This happened to me for months after surgery. My advice...consider it a blessing in disguise. It will help you stay on track and lose as much as possible during the first 6 months. After that, you get your tastes back for almost everything and with it your desire to eat (and thus harder to lose). Enjoy the honeymoon! It won't last forever!

First "fast day" of 5:2 plan
Ok, was trying to not eat from breakfast to dinner. But got so hungry I ate a little spicy fresh salsa as a mini-salad. Only 20 calories and hopefully will hold me until end of the day. Do you spread your 500 calories out through the day to eat all at once?

First "fast day" of 5:2 plan
Thanks for the responses. I am almost 9 months out but my weight loss has slowed a lot and my hunger has increased. So, I'm giving it a try. I'll be doing my doctor's plan the rest of the time. I got the book by Mosley on my Kindle and have been reading up on the overall benefits of fasting. It makes a lot of sense to me. Not extreme fasting, but this modified version. I don't think extreme fasting would work for me. It's back fired in the past when I used it as a "fad diet" a long time ago, pre-sleeve.

First "fast day" of 5:2 plan
First "fast day" on 5:2 plan. I get 500 calories today. Just finished my Breakfast (185 calories) and I won't eat again until dinner at 5 pm. Any tips from those who use this plan? I'm feeling good about it--send good vibes my way please!

My new plan to reduce snacking habits/ increase weight loss
Nice to know am not alone. Im going to clear my house of crackers (personal weakness), do as many shakes as I can during the day with so healthy Snacks and see what happens. Also, my nightly glass of wine is going away after the new year as well. But I do feel good. I did the shakes for the past 2 days and I'm already losing again. I think I just have to avoid my triggers, be they certain foods, drink, or emotional ones. I really enjoy being able to share my experiences with those who understand! Thanks to all my Bariatric Pals!!!

My new plan to reduce snacking habits/ increase weight loss
Hi! I'm 7 months out from VSG, and I have lost 76 (275 to 199). While I am happy about this, I still have 50 pounds to get to my goal weight, and I have been snacking more lately as my hunger increases and the "honeymoon" period fades away. I have only lost about 8 pounds I last 2 months. But I am determined to get this weight off though! I did not go through all this and spend 20k+ for nothing. I've tried going to mostly meat and veg to get back on track, but that hasn't really worked. I still let the Snacks in (had too many Triscuits today and 2 small pieces of chocolate). I definitely feel I am a food addict, and I do not want my addictive behaviors back! So, this is my plan for awhile, probably until I get to goal weight (except for a few days while travelling around the holidays). When I was on liquids, I didn't have any trouble not eating solid food nor did I have hunger. The Protein shakes really keep me full. So, I am thinking that I will do only shakes and Water and Vitamins during the day, then have a "normal" dinner with my family. I have to cook for everyone and I like us all sitting down to dinner together, so that is when I will have my meat and veggies. If I am really dying for something to chew during the day, I'm going to make one special drawer in my fridge that is just for me and put these things in it: cut up cucumbers, peppers, celery, carrots, broccoli, sugar-free Jello cups, RTD drink shakes (and sugar-free popsicles in the freezer). But I can only eat out of that drawer except for dinner time. I think I need to do something like this until I stop with the mindless snacking and get rid of carb cravings again. It's like they say with alcoholics--they can't have that one drink. Well, I just can't start eating (especially carbs) early in the day without getting off track. Maybe once I get settled into this for awhile, I can add back more real protein, veg and fruits during the day. But now it seems too many choices for me. I need a lot of limits to help me get to my goal. What do you think of this plan, at least temporarily until I can put the carby snacks down for good. I know I have to "learn to eat real food properly" ultimately...and I will. Just hoping this will help me help me establish some better snacking habits while losing weight. PS: Regarding exercise, I do it regularly--3-4x week I go to gym, yoga, do spinning, etc. I used to do more weights, but have left that for a bit. Maybe I will pick it back up soon...

Those 6 mos out or more...post a day of food?
If you are 6+ months out, could you post a typical day of food with quantities (ie, 1/2 cup, etcetera)? I could really use some examples of how successful sleevers are eating at this stage. My weight loss is slowing down and I need some ideas!!! Thank you!!!

I got hit on!

I'm almost 4 years out and I'm gaining weight again ... HELP!
- Drinks
I'd wait on coffee for 3 months. I love coffee but it didn't feel good until I was healed more. I drink 1 cup every morning now that I'm 5 months out. As for other drinks...I like snapple diet peach tea, Water with cut up frozen fruit/oranges slices/cucumber slices. Some like Mio drops, I haven't found a flavor I like. I do drink crystal light, w and wo Protein added.- exercise
I love spinning! It's challenging but also you can go at your own pace if you want, I did in the beginning. It's easier on the knees than jogging and a great calorie burn. I started spinning at my heaviest weight 275 before surgery, love it even more now at 210!- Does eating out become awkward after VSG?
It's not awkward but I don't enjoy it as much. Hard to eat slowly when everyone else is eating fast. Then my tummy gets upset.- Alcohol calories and working out
Yet wondering...if I am consuming some alcohol but staying within my calorie requirements and exercising...will that slow my weight loss? I love spinning and core exercises, tabata, etcetera but I also like a couple glasses of wine a couple times a week. I'm keeping my food carbs low, too. Just wondering about others experiences. FYI--I am almost 5 months out. Down 63 lbs--275 to 212. Eating about 1000/ day and exercising 4-5 times week with good workouts IMO.- Alcohol calories same as others?
