Congrats!! I recently had the same victory. Sleeved 6/14 35 lbs down since surgery...My girlfriend gave me a pair of 16's I figured I'd try them on...for sh!ts n giggles. I almost cried, I was probably 18, when I last wore a 16. Wonderful milestone!

    Hey Corcor:
I am late responding, but I suspect you are Caribbean and your question sound so similar to mine. I am almost three months post op.
    1. I am able to eat small amounts of Caribbean food, but I watch my portions and go very slow. Usually after three or four spoons I am full.I am careful with rice and peas and macaroni an cheese.< /p>
    2. I notice that my nails break very easily and often. To prevent dryness I moisturizer daily. I take Biotin to deal with hair nail and skin issues. I have not seen any changes in my hair as yet. I am watching.
    3. I come from a large family and I have only told one of my sisters and two cousins. I just want to deal with this and not hear the talk an people's unsupportive opinions, you know how we can get.
The process is a process but I have no regrets. I cannot tell you how nice it is to try on clothes and it fits. I hope this helps answer some questions.

I just wanted to share one of the best feelings I experienced yesterday with my 7 year old daughter since surgery..We were in a clothing store and my daughter said "mommy you should try this on...it is so pretty for you.." I looked at the size (16) and told her mommy can't fit into that. She told me just put it on and I did. Amazed to my surprise it fit!!!! I was in a size 24 in March before the surgery. I have not been in a 16 in over 17 years. That evening I did not Celebrate with food like I used to do before surgery, but with exercise. One of the best feelings in the world!

I had my consult with Dr. Levine at Brooklyn Hospital. She was funny, informative, & supportive. Answered my questions and may have diagnosed me with Pre-Diabetes. I have a rash in both arms in the crease where they stick u for blood...I thought I was getting eczema but she said it may be a sign of sugar issues. Just started maybe 3-4months ago but eczema runs in my family soo...if so, this knocks me up to 3 obesity related issues. hBP, snoring/sleep apnea, pre-diabetes, and I also have plantar fasciitis which makes it hard to walk...I called my PCP and I see him on Monday...I love him and I hope he gives me the okay and support.
Oh & I fasted today and the Bariatric nurse let me get blood work done & I attended a nutritional session with a dietitian...my insurance only requires 1 session...I do plan to go to the support meetings and see the dietitian again. Very informative and overall clean facility. All the docs I need are there except my PCP...
    Thanks for listening.
    What a wonderful life...

I have been using Jamaican Black Castor oil on my hair, in addition to my Vitamins. I have heard good things about it from my hairdresser and friends. I also started taking Nature's Bounty Biotin gel cap. They are very small and go down easy. CVS has them on sale buy one get one free.

    Hey all,
Just going through my Sunday ads to see what I can't possibly live without this next week and low and behold CVS has Nature's Bounty Biotin on sale. Buy one, get one free so now is the time to stock up!
They have the 5,000 meg capsules and they are smaller than a Benedryl so they are easy to get down, even soon after surgery.
I get the 150 count so that's almost a year's worth for about $20 bucks!
Ok. Done my good deed for the day.
Back to your regularly scheduled programming. :D

This is the absolute best thread I have read, Laura you are a hoot!!!!!! People don't understand why we are so passionate about doing the right thing after this surgery. Enough people take short cuts and disobey the dr.'s orders, and suffer serious consequences, and medical emergencies, then the media will say that the surgery is dangerous and bad for people, foreclosing a new life for lots of poor souls. Please lady step away from the Cheerios.

I just wanted to drop a quick note here for those that have been following my progress. It was six months ago today (11/23/12) that I started this amazing journey. Since that day I have gone from 445 lbs to 285 lbs, for a total of 160 lbs lost! My BMI has gone down 20 points from 55 to 35 and my jean size from 54 inches to 38 inches! Life has been absolutely amazing. As a reward, something that I had planned to do once I hit 150 lbs lost but NEVER thought it would have been this fast, I went on vacation to New York City, something that I have always wanted to do. Thank goodness I was in the shape that I am in now because I walked several miles per day all over the city for four days and was still exhausted afterwards! I would have been dead or in the hospital if the old me had tried to do that! Well, once again, if you are considering the sleeve, just do it, it will save your life!

Five days out of surgery and finally a good night sleep. No more pain a little soreness but tolerable. On full liquids, walking 10 min every two hours and only getting down 48 oz of Water but going try for 64 oz today. Down 6 lbs and feeling optimistic.

Make sure you have everything you need on hand after surgery, Soup, Jello, crystal light, Protein, milk. I had Surgery Dec 10 no pain meds. I was a little nauseated after Surgery but that my only complaint.
