  1. So, I got the most hated comment (for me anyway) the other day:

Someone congratulated me on my weight loss & asked how I did it. I'm always very open and honest about my surgery, so I told her I had the sleeve....

Her reply: "oh, I thought you did it yourself."

My head said "b*tch!" But my mouth said, "well it was a lot of hard work." -- I didn't look, but I could feel her rolling her eyes, but I beat her with the flames coming out my ears.

    People have no clue.

I WORK at this-- the results speak for themselves. I don't have to explain myself to anyone.

We work hard. Pat yourself on the back! This life isn't easy-- it's high maintenance. Not everyone can do what we do. Don't let anyone's opinions bring you down.... Cheers to us!

    :)

Bravo to you for posting the FABULOUS meal pics! That is the BEST visual for what we will be eating. I have been curious about types and quantities of food. This is SUPER HELPFUL!!!!

When you say "this is not the body you were after" what do you mean? Was your shape too "flabby", did you want more muscle tone, How is yoga helping you? Sorry for so many questions, but we are about the same starting weight and your information and pics have been SO HELPFUL!!!

I'm glad you find the photos helpful!!! That's what I was hoping for! :)

Not the body i was after: I felt too boney. I could see all my ribs in the mirror - it just wasn't a good look for me. I wanted a little more muscle and curves.

I first started yoga for a little strength.. But strength., flexibility, elongating muscles, relaxation/meditation.

Your transformation is nothing short of AMAZING!!!!!!! How long did it take you to lose this much weight? You look very young. So smart to address this now. Any tips or advice for others to be successful? Have you had any cravings? Any temptation to cheat on your eating plan? Are you exercising? What type of exercise, if so? You should be so proud of yourself!!!!

    Thanks!

Tips: well, I just follow the rules, eat real food, no more than 4oz at a time, Protein first, no bread/rice/pasta/potatoes, drink Water, and exercise. :)

Cravings? Minimal. I usually crave food that isn't "bad" for me... Like watermelon or Quest bars. And the few times I've given in to something I THOUGHT I wanted (like a french fry, or bite of a cupcake) it never seemed to taste as good as I remember. THANKFULLY.

And yes, I exercise quite a bit. I started with mainly cardio and light (5-15 lbs wts). But after losing weight I quickly realized that's not the body shape I was after. So I began lifting heavier weights 3-4 times a day. I still do some cardio, but not every day as I had been. I also go to yoga and BodyFlow classes a few times a week.

  4. I spent the past week in Florida (my first real vacation since my VSG just over a year ago). We had a blast!!-- 1 week at Vero Beach and a couple days at Disney (Magic Kingdom).

I was surprised and excited to see how wonderful vacation is as an average sized person. I wore a bathing suit, played in the sand, kept up without getting out of breath, my feet didn't hurt, and it wasn't NEARLY as HOT as I remembered other vacations to be. LOL. I felt comfortable in my own skin & fit in all the rides :) -- I skipped my family's last trip to Disney bc I was embarrassed I wouldn't fit on some rides-- anyway-- It was AWESOME!

    So... About the food:

For the most part, I eat very well at home. Very few packaged food (only dairy, nuts, Protein supplements, and peanut butter)) and the rest of my diet is fresh produce and meats.

As for our trip, I decided to take a vacation from my way of eating while on vacation. I still focused on protein and ate small portions, but I went a little wild on my choices of Snacks at Magic Kingdom. My husband (who also follows a low carb/ high protein diet) says, "there's no rules on vacation!" LOL

My confession: at Disney I ate a Mickey icecream bar, a fruit smoothie, 5 French fries, and shared an icecream sundae with my husband. GASP! I also had 3 alcoholic beverages during my week (of which I can only drink about 1/3 ).

Confession continued: nothing tastes as good as I remembered. Nothing gave me the high it once did. I didn't crave it. I didn't love any of it. And afterwards, Those poor food choices made me feel tired & down... Just no energy. That trash did nothing good for my body.

Junk makes you feel like junk.

So I had a WONDERFUL vacation, but I'm happy to be back to my normal eating & drinking habits.

Here's a few pic of my trip along with some food & beverage choices. And a pic of the safety bar on a ride that doesn't keep me very safe bc I'm so much smaller than my husband now. HAHAHA.

  5. This is my first vacation since my VSG, and I'm just surprised at how comfortable I feel- comfortable walking around (my feet don't hurt, I can keep up without getting out of breath), I feel comfortable in a swimsuit (really, I walked around all day in my bathing suit without feeling the least bit self-conscious), and best of all I feel comfortable being in photos --- I feel like a normal person! LOL

Here's one from Vero Beach,FL.. And heading to Disney in a few days!!! AND I WILL BE ABLE TO FIT IN ALL THE RIDES!!!!!!!!!!! :)
