angela3472 reacted to ProudGrammy in Stalled ????
pamiam824 you can walk/exercise - drink more - never hurts
but........
stalls happen to all of "us"
newbies - to veterans
got to get used to the stalls - periodically they might/will happen
a stall can last anywhere from a few days, to weeks - even a month, or more ) -hopefully not that extreme
easier said than done but..........
you gotta "ride the wave" - the stall will break, i promise
Would i lie to you???
no way!!!!

good luck

Remember no bake chocolate Peanut Butter Cookies (there are different names for them but they have cocoa, oatmeal, and peanut butter). There is a recipe for high Protein ones and that is what I make when I buy Protein Powder that I don't care for. I also use PB2 in place of Peanut Butter to cut calories but save Protein. You might try that or make protein balls with your unflavored protein.

angela3472 got a reaction from natedinsmoor2 in I have some questions
Sweats, comfy clothing, slippers because they'll want you to walk, walk, walk! Chapstick, toothbrush, change of undergarments, phone, charger, i brought my ipad and I don't know if your dr does this but I was put in a binder to help hold me in and heal my muscles after the laparoscopic surgery.
You'll want to try all the types of Proteins before you commit because some find that they're not tolerant to whey or soy or just flat out can't hack the taste. You don't want to spend a lot of $$$ on something and find yourself stuck with it. Just remember to ask the nurses for suggestions and sip sip SIP...don't be in a hurry to get it down because it WILL hurt if you take a big drink. Good luck and please let us know how you do!!!

angela3472 reacted to omtaylor in Egg white protein
A lot of the protien shakes are whey or soy based which I'm allergic to. Has any one tried egg white Protein Shakes? They taste a lot better and have up to 26g of Protein. I think this could be a good thing!!

angela3472 got a reaction from Success2013 in New Whey Liquid Protein 42g
Colleen Proteins are the worst because they give no real support to cellular function and helping with muscle function. My nut said not to take them because the Protein is a poor source and nutritionally they give you no real benefit. I have the book, idiots guide to weight loss surgery and they say the same thing.

angela3472 reacted to Fiddleman in How are you able to drink all the liquid they recommend?
It is hard to meet Water goals in the beginning, especially before 3-4 months. It just hurts too much to drink faster then sips and like Laura says, drinking Water is a full time job. However, it gets easier as the months go by.
Start out drinking to a schedule and try to meet mini goals during the day. For me, my goals were really small in the first couple weeks. I was just trying to get through 2 ounces every hour. After you are in liquids phase, try and empty 3 blender cups a day. By solids at 5-6 weeks, try and hit 64 ounces ( 32 ounces by afternoon and 32 ounces by evening). At 3-4 months, try and make sure you can drink 90 ounces a day. This usually happens by trying to get through 32 ounces in between the 3 major meals.
The point is that increasing water intake is progressive over a long period of time. You want to be able to drink a lot of water a few months out in order to meet hydration needs from flushing toxins out of the body (translates into faster weight loss) and also to meet hydration needs for during and after exercising.
Add flavor to your water as soon as you can. It will make drinking water much much easier. Water was really hard to drink plain for me until month 6. I still flavor my water every day with Desani drops. Other posters like a variety of different types of water enhancers. It just tasted weird plain, lots of strong minerals in every type of water I tried, from tap water to Fuji water. Just could not do it without flavor.
At 9 months now, I think my daily water intake is 120+ ounces. Sure I spend a few extra times in the bathroom during the day, but it is worth it from all the benefits from staying well hydrated.

angela3472 reacted to MOBD in How are you able to drink all the liquid they recommend?
I am almost 3 weeks post op...surgery 3/12. I just cannot drink all the fluids they want you to drink. I'm lucky if I get 40 oz in a day. That's Protein Shakes and Water...everything. I do eat a couple of sugar free popsicles everyday. I just can't figure out how you are able to drink 60 oz of liquids. I have something with me all the time but my stomach just can't take that much Fluid. I don't think I'm dehydrated...urine is pale yellow, so I'm not really worried about that. I just know that the more fluid the better right?
I've lost 22 lbs since surgery, so I'm doing ok. I just keep judging myself and trying to meet the goals that the doctor has recommended...
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

YAY!!! So happy for you!! I am looking forward to being able to ride a bike! haha It seems silly but I have two nephews I love so much, and I haven't been able to enjoy running, playing, or riding bikes because of my weight! I'm hoping by the end of summer I'll be zooming around town with them, instead of watching from the yard! When reaching my goal. I want to go back to nursing school. How about you?
