    OMG the Pain!

I had 5 incisions also but no very little pain. In the hospital I was on iv pain meds. At home, they prescribed liquid pain med. Be careful with that stuff, it can cause SEVERE constipation. Just remember, "this too shall pass." Good luck to you.
  2. I had WLS on March 27, 2013. My husband, while he did support my decision, he did not make any changes to his eating habits. We have 13 (almost 14) year old twin boys. It is very hard to make them eat all healthy foods, so when we have pizza, I eat the toppings only. When we have spaghetti, I eat the meat sauce and cheese, ect. My husband does need to lose weight, but I know from experience that you have to do it when you are ready, no one can make you. So to answer your question, yes, I believe a relationship can make it if you partner is not willing to make changes with you. You are the one doing WLS, you make the changes you need and let him do what he needs. It's only food! right? good luck!
  3. pharmacist recommended 10,000 mcg per day. Seems to have helped. My hair loss is just about back to normal.

6 months and only 40 lbsdown

weight loss varies greatly. I am 6 months out and have lost 63 pounds. I get frustrated when I see that someone has lost 100 pounds by their 6 month date. Sorry I don't have any advice for you. We just have to keep on keeping on and we will get there! good luck to you!!

    6 months out!

I am right where you are! I was worried that I was not doing as well as most, but I feel better knowing I'm not alone! On the 27th, I will be six months out, I have lost 63 pounds and have 39 pounds to go! We are like twins!!! Good luck to you!
  9. It's horrible when anyone dies from any kind of surgery. I wonder if maybe the original poster was concerned because that is where she is having her surgery done and she just wanted to find out if this doctor has an usually high rate of complications/deaths? I would certainly have checked my doctor out more if I heard that someone had died from the same surgery I was getting at his hands. Of course, most are out of the doctors control and not their fault at all, but there are still some doctors who may not be a qualified as others.

Clothes purging Pre op...Save me from myself!

I would suggest you wait to purge your closet. I was still able to wear the same old clothes for about 2 or 3 months, even though I was losing weight. I am now at almost 6 months and I still haven't bought anything new, because I am only about 1/2 way to my goal. I did keep boxes of smaller sizes that I wore during my various diets so I do have clothes to wear. I felt like I was going to jinx my weight loss if I purged my closest too soon! Good luck to you!

    big ball feeling

I had this feeling for a while after surgery. Never could get an explanation from Doctor. Just kind of brushed it off. So I figured it was normal. It went away after a while.
  13. No regrets here. Would do it all over again knowing how great it is.

    My husband is killing me!

Bacon cooking knowing I couldn't eat it would kill me! My husband tried to be helpful to me by cooking things that he knew I didn't like. Stuff like Salmon patties and fried Spam. Normally, Yuck!, I would leave the house. But not after my surgery. Sitting in the living room drinking my shake, that salmon and later that fried spam smelled so good! I would have given almost anything to eat some!

    Sandwich Me!

Will you have a hard time living without bread? Ooopsies are a good option. It’s a “bread” without carbs and can be eaten in a variety of ways. Oopsies 6–8 depending on size. 3 eggs 100 grams (3.5 ounces) of cream cheese a pinch of salt ½ teaspoon baking powder (can be excluded) Separate the eggs, with the egg whites in one bowl and the egg yolks in another. Whip the egg whites together with the salt until very stiff. You should be able to turn the bowl over without the egg whites moving. Mix the egg yolks and the cream cheese well. If you choose, add the psyllium seed husk and baking powder (this makes the Oopsie more bread-like). Gently fold the egg whites into the egg yolk mix – try to keep the air in the egg whites. Put 6 large or 8 smaller oopsies on a baking tray. Bake in the middle of the oven at 150° C (300° F) for about 25 minutes – until they turn golden. You can eat Oopsies as bread or use them as a bun for a hotdog or hamburger. You can also put different kinds of seeds on them before baking them, for instance poppy, sesame or sunflower seeds.

    Eyebrows

lots of hair loss but no eyebrows lost!
  25. I believe when the doctors say to get 60 grams of protein they mean when you get on your solid food schedule. It is very hard to get 60 grams right off the bat when your stomach is still swollen from surgery. I had trouble also with fluids and protein. Just make sure that anything you eat is high protein, if not, find something else! As for fluids, what saved me was sugar free popsicles! When I went for my 2 month appointment and told them I was not getting anywhere near the amount of fluids, that is what they recommended. It will get better. I am almost 6 months post op and I am loving my sleeve, but I remember one of my first posts that was very similar to yours! Good luck to you.
