    Questions, Questions?!

I had my sleeve on March 27. I do get hungry between meals. I try to drink water when my stomach starts growling. Not sure if it wants food or water, since I am still having trouble getting enough water in. I have broken down and eaten a few snacks between meals, but of course, I can't hold much. Everyone is different, I guess. Good luck to you. We will make it!!!!!
  2. I am almost 4 weeks post op and I am disappointed with my weight loss. I am only losing about 2 pounds per week. I was under the impression from my doctor that it would come off quicker than that. I am only eating very small portions with no snacking and trying to get the water in. How much do you average? Thanks!
  3. I am barely three weeks post op and can't swallow another drop of water. I have always hated water anyway, now this is torture! I am about ready to just quit drinking all together. I would rather be hooked up to an iv than to drink more nasty water. I really wish I had not had this surgery now knowing that I can't drink anything good for the rest of my life!!!! I have tried all kinds of water flavorings, sugar free powdered drinks and adding fruit to the water. nothing helps. Beware: if you hate drinking water, this surgery may not be for you. Ready to be fat and happy again!!

    I'm a little worried.

I did the same thing you did. Actually I only had four days of pre-op diet because of my surgery date. My doctor's office told me the longer pre-op diets were an insurance requirement in most cases. I was told that 4-5 days was plenty of time to shrink the liver, their main concern.

    Sleeve vs. lapband

I chose the sleeve over lap band for a couple of reasons. I have heard that the band can stretch over time, allowing you to eat more. Also, after talking to my doctor I realized there is a lot more maintenance in the band, having to have saline injected or drawn out of the band as necessary. And then I did not want that port attached to the inside of my abdomen. Good luck with whatever you chose.

Did you have a catheter ?

I have had several over the years for various surgeries/procedures and none of them have ever hurt. Good luck!

Did you have a catheter ?

I did not have a catheter but sure wanted one! The first night was awful! I had my surgery at 1:00 p.m. and up until 4:00 a.m. the next morning I was dry heaving so much I would wet the bed! Plus I had to use the bathroom so badly that I couldn't wait for the nurse to come unhook me! If offered, I would gladly accept one!

    Prepping For Surgery

LOL! Good luck on your surgery! I am 5 days post op and am anxiously awaiting the next step. The liquid diet is getting old! My husband went out and bought me a really cute sippy cup though! After my surgery the hospital gave me a special plate with areas drawn for different foods. It is sooooo cute! Can't wait to use it! God Bless You!

    BCBS...cover?

I just had Vertical sleeve and it was covered by BCBS. I was "fast-tracked" to surgery because of my insurance coverage.

    mini update.

Please, please take your vitamins and try to get more protein in! My husband has a friend/coworker who had the surgery and did not take her vitamins. She ended up in the hospital for almost 4 weeks! She was in really bad shape. I am only days post op, so I don't know the difficulties they may lay ahead, but after seeing what this lady went through, I am determined not to have it happen to me. Take care and Good Luck!

    Pre-Op Liquid Diet

I am 4 days out of sleeve surgery. I am still on the post op liquid diet. The pre-op diet was much easier! At least you got your protein shakes twice a day. Hang in there, it may get harder before it gets eaiser, but you will get there! Good luck.
  13. I had my sleeve done on March 27, so that makes me 4 days out. I am still having a hard time getting the water down. It hurts when I swallow. I think it might just be air, but I don't know what to do about it, walking around does not help. Anyone else having this problem?
