  1. I will not use artificial butter items, such as the I can't believe it's not Butter stuff. I'm Leary of all the chemicals. I've found a Greek yogurt/butter substitute I'll use. I also won't eat fat free or 1% cottage cheese. I'll eat the 2% stuff. I'll use low fat cream cheese and sour cream, and low fat cheeses. The fat free stuff just tastes gritty or tasteless. I realize this may slow down my weight loss a tad, but I want to enjoy my food still. What foods substitutes are you just not willing to use?
  2. Hello! I was sleeved on Apr. 24, so just one week ago. I can't believe how good I feel just one week out. I just have a little soreness in my belly area. Just getting used to the rules for the next couple months, so I can be healthy for the rest of my life.
  3. Hello all, This is sort of a confession wrapped up with a question. I am visiting a friend who I haven't seen in ages. I fully admit to having over indulged in the wine last night. I did drink lots of Water. However, my stomach is acidiy. I fully intend to treat it gently the rest of the weekend, and not tip my glass. I took my Prevacid and some Maloxx. Has anyone done this, and what tips do you have for a post indulgent tummy? I am just 12 weeks post op, and my dr did clear wine for me.

    strawberries

I had surgery April 24. I asked the nutritionist, and she said strawberries have wax coated seeds, and are ok for me. I ate four today.
  5. I know that building muscle helps burn fat faster. My question is, how many days, how many minutes is optimal? That has always confused me. Thanks.
  6. Sometimes, I don't measure my food. I just throw it in a bowl and let the chips fall where they may. And if I'm feeling really frisky, I'll only chew 22 times, and not the prescribed 25.
  7. What about item made with bread crumbs? I'm thinking meatballs, or breaded chicken breasts. I know bread take up room, and it's too soon for me anyway, but I was just curious. Thanks all.

I had surgery ay Buffalo General with Dr. Posner. I simply can't believe how good I feel these days. I do need to call and see about adding some more variety to my food items though.

    Mouth

Oh my gosh! The exact same thing is happening to me. I was just at the dentist today, and told them, but I didn't even think to ask if there was a correlation. My gums feel swollen, and tender. I hope someone can help here.
  11. Just curious, how long will food stay in our sleeve before it makes its journey through the rest of our digestive system? And how soon after consumption will we know if something disagrees with us? I'm a month out, and so far haven't had anything (that I know of) disagree with me. Thanks!
  12. I was sleeved on April 24. I'm a sllllowwww loser, but o date have lost 10 pounds. I'll take it, since in the past it would take me two or more months to lose that. Slow and steady wins the race.
  13. After my post surgical appointment, my doctors office gave me some business sizes cards that state that I've had bariatric surgery. I'm to put a couple in my purse and car. They are to alert emergency medical workers not to insert an NG tube without first contacting my surgeons office. On the back is a request to restaurants to allow me to order from children's menu. Did anyone else get these types of cards? Do restaurants honor them? Thanks...
  14. I don't NEED the bread crumbs, but it does enhance the flavor. Oatmeal in meatballs provides a gummy texture, and with the eggs and hamburger meat, that's plenty of protein. And I'm not deep frying the chicken or breaded pork chops, I'm baking them. I'm simply not a fan of plain baked chicken or pork chops.
  15. I've read a few posts of people developing food intolerances after surgery. I found a slight intolerance to milk, but nothing outrageous. What's the reason for this? Thanks
  16. Hello All, I'm three weeks out of surgery on Wednesday. I am for the most part pain free, with the exception of a nagging ache around my belly button. The area of discomfort is about the size of my hand. I'm off the pain medications for the most part. I went back to work today, and did some gardening with my niece over the weekend, so I might take some medication tonight. I'm a little more sore today than I have been lately. I'm just curious as to where others are on the pain scale. Thanks!

    New favorite

Plain Greek yogurt, strawberry agave syrup, and strawberry protein powder. Mix that mess up, and enjoy...
  18. I'm going on a short trip in a couple weeks. I'll only be a month out, can I bring my Protein powder on the plane?? I was thinking if bringing a couple hard boiled eggs, or a tuna in foil and getting some mayo to make a little lunch on layovers, can I do that? Any other travel ideas? Thanks
  19. I'm two weeks today, and have lost only six. I'm so sad.
  20. Hi All, I'm going to assume what just happened to me is normal, but figured I'd just double check with the experts before freaking and calling my doc office. Today is my first day of real food ( puréed). I had a scrambled egg for breakfast, and just had some tuna fish and carrots. Ten or so minutes after eating, I had a case of the runs. Can I assume this is due to eating real food for the first time in almost three weeks? Thanks, I'm so excited for this surgery, I'd hate for this to be an on going issue.

    skim vs 1%

I'm the same. My docs office said 1% is ok.
  22. Hi All, I curious as to what veggies your drs have approved at your various stages. Right now, I'm almost two weeks out and about to start my purée stage. The only veggie options I have been given are: carrots, beets, cauliflower, yams, sweet potatoes, regular potatoes, hubbard squash, and V8 juice. Of these, the only ones that don't make me gag, are potatoes, and V8 juice. When could and did you progress to edible vegetables? I'm a big fan go salad vegetables, and have my own garden for these. Thanks!
  23. Hi! I was sleeved on the 24 th and have itching around my incisions too. My drs said it was healing and not to put anything on them. I don't have much redness though, so I would say if that keeps up or gets worse call your dr. Good luck,

    Stalling so soon?!

I had surgery on apr 24, and noticed the same. I'm glad I'm not alone.
  25. Hi all! I was sleeved on Apr. 24 . I haven't really had any terrible pain, but I do have a dull achy feeling near my belly button. It's been there a couple days. I have been really careful activity wise, but the other day as I was putting dishes away, I stretched to put away a glass. But I'm not sure a single stretch is responsible. It's like a persistent tooth ache around my belt button. If its not better by Monday, I'll call the dr. Any ideas? Thanks... ( i love this site)
