    March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD

My parents suprised me Friday night and bought me a body bugg for getting my degree done in school!! It's in the mail right now and I can't wait to get it. I can't wait to see how many calories I'm burning a day. I switched jobs a bit before the surgery. Went fom a desk job to one where I walk all day long. I believe that is the biggest reason behind my steady weight loss. I guess I look at the scale differently, in the past I've stopped weighing myself because I know that I''ve been messing up on my diet and don't want to face reality. So this time around, I have been weighing myself each day. I have the weight watchers scale so it doesnt calculate your weight until your balanced on the scale. It's also digital, and some days I've only lost .1 lbs, but it's still a loss I'm just 2 1/2 weeks out from surgery but I definitely fill some restriction. Especially in the morning. I can only eat about 1/2 a scrambled egg before I'm full. However, by night I can eat about 1/3 cup of egg salad. If I eat more then that I get that uncomfortable chest pain. I'm also getting a bit of pain every now and then on the left side if I twist the wrong way when getting up, but nothing too badly. All of my incisions have pretty much healed. My surgeon is awesome! The four incisions are sooo tiny, maybe a 1/2 an inch at the most. The larger incision is about two inches and it looks a bit indented for now. Hopefully it will smooth out as the weight comes off.
  2. I'm on mushies.. feel more restriction in the morning then the rest of the day.. crazy! But still doing ok with the meals
  3. I put the loungewear on that I wore to the hospital yesterday. Yup it was pretty snug the surgery day, today it was falling off me!

Woo hoo! I'll do a little dance for you! Careful with the red incisions... if they are leaking anything I'd call your doctor. Some redness is part of the healing process. I have blisters around one incision, not sure what touched there but my body didn't like it! The other incisions are all fine

    March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD

Hi Everyone! About the body bugg.. I'm getting one to Celebrate my 40 lbs weight loss (when I get there!) If you watch biggest losers you will see the contestants all wear one on their arm. I'm excited because the watch has a pedometer and I'm dying to know how many steps I take at work. Something I found out today....and i think everyone should reward themselves the same way! I get a monthly hot stone massage, and my appointment was today. I had thought about rescheduling since my surgery was only last week, but went anyway. My girl is amazing she has an oil for everything!! She knew I was getting the surgery, so she asked if I was in pain anywhere. I told her about that dang port site being a bit of a kick in the side especially when sitting. She said it sounds like the gas is lingering over there. So she got her special oils out and included a bit of a stomach massage in with my regular massage. She said to do this at home as well to really get that gas moving around. On the ride home not a single stich of pain!! I'm feeling as good as I did before the surgery. If anyone lives in Utah and wants her number send me a PM. She's amazing!!!!

    March 28th!

I haven't had much of an appetite but this afternoon I finally felt up to eating. I'm on soft foods now so I tried some hard boiled eggs chopped up with a bit of mayo. Maybe about a 1/4 of a cup and couldn't finish it. I was full! So weird but glad it's there! LOL

    March 28th!

Today was my first day back... full 12 hour shift.. and it did not slow down!! I have told about 5 people about my surgery, none from work. Yesterday I called my sister who I've been trying to get ahold of the last few days. Finally reached her and told her about the surgery, she kept waiting for me to say April fools! LOL she couldn't believe I had the surgery without telling anyone in the family. I still think she is waiting to see the scars before she believes me... But I feel great, even slept on my side last night! I walk all day at work .. from one wing to another wing and back again! I am such a believer in the walking! Huge huge difference

    March 28th!

I went and did a half a shift at work today, it wasn't too bad. Tomorrow I attempt the 12 hour shift. They are being nice at work and letting me go at my own pace as much as possible. How is everyone else doing?

So how is everyone feeling now? Saturday was my worst day, this morning was rough but this afternoon is much better. I've lived on the heating pad! Finally lost all the liquid weight from the surgery plus 2 more pounds today!

    March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD

I was banded yesterday morning... easy in and out didn't even have time to be nervous. In a lot of pain today, hard to cough this junk out of my lungs. The Dr took a biopsy on my liver not sure why, but i guess he will call in a few days with results. The port incision definitely hurt most of all of them. Oh and this morning i woke up to a flooded basement. For somereason my toilet was backed up and the water kept coming out

    March 28th!

Just got my date ... I'm March 28th as well. I start the two week diet tomorrow. It hasn't hit me yet that I don't have to do anything else to get this scheduled!
  16. First find the doctor you want to use and make sure they accept Blue Cross. They usually have an orientation you need to attend so do that while you wait. Also you will need a psych eval and a letter from a dietician. Also go to your primary doctor and get a complete medical record. I spent more time waiting for these to be done, and the insurance doesn't cover the fees so you might as well get it done while you wait. If you can bring all of this to the orientation and hand it in so they can get you scheduled for a consult with the surgeon. I wish I had done this while I was waiting for my insurance to kick in. Good luck!
  17. Ugh! The following is a vent! I hate hate hate hate hate the girl that schedules surgeries. She has to be one of the rudest secretaries I've met. I called 5 times on Thursday with no call back, several more times on Friday and she finally calls me at 4:55PM. She then proceeds to try to convince me that we talked about this the day before, and I have no idea why she is arguing with me about not receiving the authorization from my insurance company. All I could tell her is the authorization person called said it was approve and she would be calling me Thursday to schedule. I am not able to explain another persons actions or why that person did not give her the paperwork. But the thing that drives me nuts is that she will not tell me if there are any surgery dates open in March. I don't need the exact dates a simple yes or now would suffice. I've changed jobs and not 100% sure the new insurance would cover the surgery. So all I want to know is if there is a possibility there is a date. If there is not a date then I need to get going on Cobra. But nope she would not budge. Ugh!
  18. I called this morning to see if the paperwork had been sent in, the office said it was sent over yesterday. I settled in for the week wait, they called back this afternoon and it was approved. My heart is beating a million beats per minute I'm so in shock! They will call on Thursday to schedule the surgery
  19. My friend was banded in another state but lived here when her's slipped. She was really sick for several weeks but the doctor got her in and fixed and she hasn't had any problems since
  20. I recently accepted a new job, my current insurance covers the surgery and the papers were just sent in for approval. I'm covered through the end of March, however if the surgery is not done in March I'd have to sign up for Cobra. I'm wondering if anyone else has done this or if I should really push to have the surgery in March. My new company does not have insurance the covers the lap band

My doctor had me take off my shoes, empty my pockets etc. There was nothing but underwear and clothes on me. So wear heavy clothes just in case
  22. Does anyone want to get together to go walking? The mall is great for this time of year, and when it warms up Jordan River Parkway is always a great place to go

Blue Cross Blue Shield Az Ppo

Those are pretty typical requirements, you may want to look into Curves, they don't have a very high sign up and it's a low monthly payment. In order to be successful with the band exercise really is needed

any one in utah want to talk

I have hypothryoid and no matter how much they up my meds I alway stay within the high side of normal. It does affect your metabolism, so if you overeat well then you gain double what a normal person would. When you don't eat you lose half of what a normal person would. So it's just overall frustrating. However my friend had the lap band done about 2 years ago and has hypothyroidism as well, she has lost all of the weight she wanted plus another twenty pounds. So even though the doctors say you will lose 50-60% just remember you can make the difference and lose the rest. I fully plan to follow the diet and add in a lot of exercise as well. My consult is Thursday o everyone pray the insurance comes through quickly.
  25. I know I've put babies in a bath with warm water to relieve gas when nothing else seems to work. Anyone tried this?
