Thanks for your responses. I will keep up the walking.
I think the box of chocolates is a sign of how my family feels about the surgery,,,,which is essentially nothing. They have not thought about it or offered any support. It is of no consequence to them. They all came over to my house with my mom to go out for a big birthday dinner while I ate broth...then brought two cakes back to my house and sat there and ate while I was in my chair, away from the table, in pain. No cards, no phone calls...they even just showed up that day without calling me to tell me what time they were coming.
Thanks for validating that it is not "just me"...now you know why I need this board! God bless my in-laws, friends and internet friends. I will just take a walk when the tears come back.

Hi all...I am two weeks post op and some times during the day I just want to cry. I haven't really had a good cry, just weepy. Not sure why. Also, my sister-in-law came over and gave me a box of chocolates for when I "reach the solids stage". Really? I was upset at first, but now just want to laugh. I was wacky the entire time they were over.
Let me know if there is anything that helps. I found a walk helped that day.

I was really emotional at week 2 as well. But it didn't last long for me at all. I agree with Ballermom, tell your sister in law to eat it herself. Better yet, keep it just for her future visits. Each time she visits, offer her a piece until she eats the entire box. That will show her who has control. Lol.....
Walking is go. Good Luck & hang in there.

Please don't take offense to my question but is your sister in law ignorant or mean? I'm sorry but for an adult to bring chocolates to a new bariatric patient she must be one or the other in the extreme. Unless she's a dunce it sounds like cruelty, sabotage or both to me. I would be looking at her in the distance for along time if it were me.
I am where you are. I haven't been emotional yet but i hear that most are at this time. Walking will help as you've already learned. What really makes me feel good is really upbeat music while walking. Personally I love oldies for that. Just know that it will pass and when it does you when unveil a much more awesome and healthy you. Then hand those chocolates back.

Take the box of chocolate tell her to eat the whole box. Cause you won't be needing them. Lol
But yea, it's normal what you are feeling. I cried
At about 3 weeks its usually self limiting.
    Congrats and Good luck.

My hormones and emotions were a bit "enhanced" the first month too. I've heard that hormones are stored in fat cells and as we lose weight the body gets flooded with hormones. I was goofy or crying WAY more than normal, but it's tapered off (I'm 8 weeks post-surgery).

I recall being a bit teary eyed as well, your body is going thru a huge change.....it will get better and before long you will be jumping up and down with excitement about your weight loss! That was pretty insensitive of your sister in law....I would be having a little chat with her! You are doing great! Keep up the good work!

That is so sad. I am sorry they did this maybe they were trying not to hurt your feelings when you could not eat? You might want to let them know that next time they can invite you. I sat through my mom's 80th birthday dinner...had the ricotta inside the eggplant and broth. 11 days post op.

I am the same way. I was very sick in the beginning and at this point I just concentrate on eating and drinking to keep the nausea away. I cannot stomach Protein Drinks and tend to get fluids in through fruit and Popsicles. I figure that this I at he beginning and that as I get used to this new life I will get there. Try not to stress too much. This is a big change and we will all get there in our own time!

Well I'm below 300 for first time in about 20 years and lost 103 so far. I'm averaging 7 pounds per month the last two months which seems slow but I can't deny 100 lost doesn't feel too shabby! I don't count calories, I try to get my Protein in. I eat whatever I want now and whatever my family is having, I just eat less. I can eat a whole slice of pizza or a small home grilled burger or a sandwich on thin sliced bread. I stay away from sugar but eat whole grain Pasta and brown rice. I ashamedly don't work out. I know I can lose much faster if I start tracking my calories, drink more Water, eliminate even the bit of complex carbs I eat and start working out religiously but I'm not trying to set any speed records and sustainability and a sense of normality in my way of eating is important to me as well. I'll definitely be dipping into that bag of tricks as needed if the weight completely stops dropping or tries to reverse on me though. I have a long way to go but I'm still glad I opted for the sleeve over more drastic measures that are often recommended for super high BMI guys like me. If my restriction stays about where it is long term I'll be a happy camper. By the way I do get hungry but I know I'm over 1000 calories every day.

Hey there fellow sleevers, I was asked to do a photoshoot for a local photographer's advertisements. This studio specializes in boudoir photography which explains why the photos are the way they are. I agreed because I love my new body and I finally feel sexy for the first time in years. I hope my success can inspire and motivate

My husband and I had a nice date night tonight at Red Lobster. PostOp eating out is quite different than before. For example, The waitress thought it was VERY strange I refused to order a drink (I didn't want it near me to tempt me). Lol. I also found transferring my food to a smaller plate made eating out less overwhelming.
I ordered grilled shrimp and coconut shrimp (my husband wanted coconut shrimp) with a side of veggies. Pre-sleeve I would have shared and appetizer, eaten a couple biscuits, ate nearly everything on my plate, and possibly dessert.
The plate above is what I ordered and what the pre-sleeved me would've eaten. The plate below is what I ate (minus a couple bites of the veggies).

(rant alert!) CARBS ARE NOT THE DEVIL! (Thanks for nothing, Dr. Atkins.) Beans do not include simple or lipogenic (fat-forming) carbohydrates like, say, high fructose corn Syrup does. Your body NEEDS the three macronutrients of fat, carbohydrate, and Protein to continue catalyzing reactions that keep it functioning. However, you must educate yourself in the various types of carbs so you can read nutrition information/labels critically.
That being said, your first priority (as well as mine) should be on acquiring adequate Protein. Beans are such an excellent source of protein, I doubt you have anything to worry about as far as filling up with carbs before meeting your protein quota.
