  1. I'm gonna tell em what they've heard me say many, many times in the past. "I'm on a diet again". Which is exactly the case. And I'm sure I'll get the usual jabs like ......."yeah sure.....the Atkins 2 minute diet".......or ......damn, "that means the local Wendy's and Pizza Hut are gonna go bankrupt" and I'll chuckle right along with 'em..............I'm sure there will be plenty of legit comments later when they see the results...... As far as the surgery......Guys don't really give a sh*t. In fact, I'll probably show them the five bullet scars where I single handedly stopped a bank robbery and captured a gang of crazed gunmen and saved 20 hostages. .......Yeah.....that's the ticket..
  2. I'm just bringing the wife.........and she can get me whatever I need........ I call her the Pit Bull........if anyone gives me a hard time or drags their feet, I turn her loose on them.
  3. What my wife calls me is gonna be what I wanna be called if she wants an answer. Anything else I probably deserve.
  4. It bruises because it's a blood thinner. Better to endure a little pain or bruising than a clot or DVT or stroke or worse. for the men stop whinning and man up and the women.......it's only a little prick.......you should be used to that by now........
  5. Whew, I just had to duck into here for awhile and talk fishing or arm wrestle someone or just do alot of cussing. Too much estrogen in those other rooms....... I still have a long way to go till surgery and my Doc has a support group that meets monthly, so I figured I check it out. Ya know.....to check on everyone's progress, see what foods they eat and talk some recoveries with guys that don't include bursting into tears every five seconds....... Boy was I wrong........I walked in and there were 17 women and me. After I huddled there quietly listening and watching a bunch of lame bungee stretching exercises, as the meeting concluded several of the women felt the need to nuture me about the process. I gotta admit it was very supportive on their part, but it just reinforced the differences between men and women attitudes and mannerisms. If it were't for this Man Room, the gender specific support would be all but non existent. Well that's enough completely unimportant rambling........as you were gentlemen......!
  6. when it comes to one eye, there's no room for guessing...... I had a pain a while back along with difficulty urinating and went to the PCP......yeah, he did the whole gauntlet......labs, ultrasound, blah blah.....So he says go home, drink lots of fluids.....it'll pass. It didn't......I went to the ER that night and had Cat Scan. Very large Kidney stone. The Urologist had to stent it and deal with severe UTI first and then laser it later. He told me if I had waited another day I could have had permanent Kidney damage. A later Scan revealed yet another stone in the kidney which he blasted (lithotripsy). Saving the laser up the ****. later. I now only trust a Urologist and make regular appointments.. Don't risk it .......get it checked by a specialists.
  7. Mars <-------------> Venus
  8. When you hens......err women are all climbing on the support wagon, just remember there are always two sides to everything.......... and a whole lot of unknowns .......Just sayin......... And SR910, I am reluctant to get involved in what is none of my business.........however......think about this.......during the time the two of you have established to "hope for things to get better",........... "missing" each other by itself won't do it.!! You both need to communicate to each other openly and truthfully. Ya know, the stuff your really thinking in your head when your telling your partner only what you think they want to hear. Real life stuff......not storybook. Most people tell their best friends more actual truth than they tell their partners. Telling him how you want him to act without knowing why he is acting a certain way, or if he can....... will solve nothing. Same goes for you. Life is too precious to not enjoy it when it is in your control to change it...........be it with the one you're with or finding another. You are going to experience alot of changes. Make good use of it. Best wishes.......
  9. Here's the formula......... Before surgery: Eat wrong or too much = no ill side effects until later.. (you get fatter) After Surgery : Eat wrong or too much = pain, damage to internal organs, pain, complications, more painful surgery, no weight loss, possible death. Reason for surgery = refer to above "after surgery". If there were no consequences, it wouldn't work. Scared straight is what makes it work.
  10. Sounds like a lot of suggestions and judging going on by virtual strangers. No matter how you slice it, men and women are always gonna be from Mars and Venus. Ya know the real plus about living alone.......ya can't argue with yourself......(well ya could, but then they'd hafta put ya away.) Everyone is an individual and different. Constant compromising in a relationship is difficult. Space is always good. Put any two people together in a room and they will most certainly disagree about things. Whatever you do, don't do it based on suggestions from here. Good luck.
  11. Just put it into perspective.............When your not sure what to eat......picture robbing a bank. You go into the vault.......Do you fill your pockets with piles of coins or take the $100 bills.
  12. Chicks........jeez.....
  13. Magnesium Citrate. Available at Walgreens over the counter. Taste like unsweetened Kool Aid. Refrigerate it to go down better. Drink all at once. takes only a couple of hours or less to work and clears you out completely with no stomach pains whatsoever. I keep some in the Fridge always. Works when nothing else does. I used it exclusively during my knee replacement recoveries due to severe constipation from long term use of pain meds. That miserable blocked feeling was worse than the knee pain. I won't let that happen again.
  14. Hey Pixie, while your getting introduced to forums you might want to check out BoneSmart.org for the knee. I had both knees replaced and was very lucky to have found them before my surgeries. The information and support was priceless. I go by "Recycled" over there too. I have yet to get sleeved and am hoping for the same benefits here. Good luck.
  15. Hey, I can certainly do a few months......BTW.....you look really great. So looking forward to saying that about myself.
  16. I'm a newbie, but that has nothing to do with it. I couldn't help but laugh all through this thread. Talk about making a mountain out of a molehill. Who cares what anybody thinks........including this post by me. Most people come on here and other forums to help them with their upcoming surgeries by getting "first hand " information from real patients. Then if they stick around after their procedures, it is to offer the same information to other newbies. It really isn't in my mind what anybody thinks of me or my values or even my personality. And that being said, there isn't a chance in h*ll that I'll agree with everyone on here or them with me for that matter. So......everybody shake hands......chill out and and tell me where it hurts......Oh, and just to get my own totally biased opinion into the mix........."The surgery won't lose the weight for me.......eating a whole lot less.....and correct foods.... and exercise and and and and and..... for always.... is what is going to make me lose the weight. And if I don't do it......or if I don't keep doing it......I'll remain fat or put it all back on like I have done in the past. All the surgery will do is help me limit intake......something I have not been able to do in the past. No different then if someone put a gun to my head and said they'd shoot me unless I limit my intake..........Kinda drastic.....but effective analogy. Both alternatives, quite uncomfortable or even lethal. So......as far a I'm (JUST ME....got that.....no one else.) concerned.......I'm the one responsible for losing any weight. Not the surgery.....not any pills.....just me. Yeah sure I don't want any discomfort the tiny little stomach will cause if I eat too much......so I won't. Hence the reason to get the surgery........But still just me responsible for actually losing any weight and keeping it off. Done! that's my opinion. Not meant to be anyone else's and I don't care what anyone's reaction to it is either. I just want to be skinny and healthy ......for whatever time I have left. And what I tell or don't tell anyone is of no consequence to me. Now let's get back to me finding out about the crappy food and drinks I'm gonna have to switch to.
  17. Yep, I live in Miami and my wife lives in Cape Coral. Works out great. LOL. I visit CC quite often, and would very much like to follow up with your progress when I'm in town. It may take a few months yet for my surgery approval. So I guess I would be supporting you.. At least cheering you on.
  18. Sleeve sister..........cmon......I'm not that big of a sissy. I thought the bike would be a clue. For the record, the name is Bill, and thanks for the support. BTW, my wife lives in Cape Coral.
  19. I have been prone to obesity most of my adult life. I have dieted so many times I cannot even remember. Alot of times I was very successful and lost tremendous amounts of weight in very short periods. But as you all know the routine......I would get overconfident once I reached my goal weight and I would quickly gain it all back and some. Five years ago, I was in fact very far along with yet another diet and feeling pretty good and healthly and out of the blue......wham........I had a MI. (myocardial infarction) My heart stopped from a blocked artery. I got zapped five times in the ER........as in dead!!. Well......I'm writing this...... so ......they were able to get me back. I had a stent placed in the blocked artery and have been on a zillion pills ever since. OH, and here's the kicker. The Doc of course said I had to continue to lose more weight. So......with one death under my belt and the next one looming.......what do I do.......gain weight of course. Lots of weight. Do I care? Of course I do. What can I do about it......All pill diets are now off the table and the new cardiac meds seem to make me gain even more. No matter what I attempt......I'm less successfull than ever before. Every appointment with the cardi-doc is a lecture to lose weight. You'd think dying would be enough modivation. It most definitely is, but I am lost and fail early on with any diet attempts. My quality of life sucks. I am bigger than anytime in my life and now I feel like every minute that bomb is ticking and I won't be able to stop it. If I'm going to die from being obese, then I might as well go "all in" . Fear and risks of surgery are no longer an issue to me. I have made up my mind that no matter what the risk of surgery, the pain or any undesirable lifestyle changes.........I'm dead if I don't do it. So, no more thinking I can do it myself at some future point...........there is no future if I don't do it NOW. I've been to the seminars, the docs, office and read everything I can get my hands on. I've decided on the sleeve and started the approval process. I found this forum and I hope to be calling on you' all very soon and posting my progress. Right now, I just dream of what my life can be as I read all of your success stories. Regardless of the people that say I should just lose the weight now on my own and the surgery is too risky. Fact is......I haven't. I don't know why. So if this is what it takes......if once done I will have no choice but to change.....then so be it. Thanks for letting me vent.......Somehow all of you are the only ones I think might understand......even if I don't.
  20. Try Magnesium Citrate. It's available at walgreens. drink it cold to mask the taste. Taste like unsweetened flavored drink. It will work when nothing else does. I used it when I had my knee replacement surgery. The constipation was worse pain than the knee recovery. Works in like 30-60 minutes. Ask your doc about it. It is over the counter.
