Escape.....

Whew, I just had to duck into here for awhile and talk fishing or arm wrestle someone or just do alot of cussing. Too much estrogen in those other rooms.......

I still have a long way to go till surgery and my Doc has a support group that meets monthly, so I figured I check it out. Ya know.....to check on everyone's progress, see what foods they eat and talk some recoveries with guys that don't include bursting into tears every five seconds....... Boy was I wrong........I walked in and there were 17 women and me. After I huddled there quietly listening and watching a bunch of lame bungee stretching exercises, as the meeting concluded several of the women felt the need to nuture me about the process. I gotta admit it was very supportive on their part, but it just reinforced the differences between men and women attitudes and mannerisms. If it were't for this Man Room, the gender specific support would be all but non existent.

Well that's enough completely unimportant rambling........as you were gentlemen......!

I agree with all of that. I'm so damn afraid of walking in to a support group and experiencing the same thing, I haven't even gone to them yet. I've made my own little group of guys I talk to about progress and such, and haven't bothered with the support groups yet. I doubt there are really enough guys in my area to actually have a mans support group or anything, but it sure would be nice to head out on a lake, do some fishing, and discuss progress.

My doc's support group is 3/4 or more female. I much prefer online forums and groups for exactly that reason.

So, welcome, Recycled. There's a big leather couch over there, magical calorie-free and safe-for-sleever beer or Red Bull in the fridge, the arm-wrestling and poker tables are over there, and a place to work on transmissions out back (it's next to the shooting range).

We got your back, brother. :)

They (the chicas) still find their way to this room.............some of them just can't help themselves. <_<

So I'm guessing none of you have seen the "As for me I'm bottom heavy so I can't wait to loose these theighs so I can have my legs up in the air longer lol." thread.

Hahaha... WHATEVER!

Oops.. Never mind, pretend you don't see me because I'm really not here

:P

Went to one support group. Was the only guy. Was very much like VST. Lots of complaining, lots of questions (some quite silly). Some very over the top people. Never went back.....

Don't look now but the OP is, at this moment in "the ladies gone wild" room making comments.

He must not be that sick of the "cackling hens"

Hehehehe

Tell me about it........I think they were more there for the social gathering rather than any gastric surgery support. Every now and then one would walk up to me cautiously, like I was an alien and ask me if I was alright.......as if I was lost or something........I won't be going back either.

I had a comment for the powder room sex thread too, but I figured I'd get flamed so much it would burn the site down.

Are you kidding?? It would probably give em a thrill! :P

Really?

I didn't even know there was a "mans cave"

And you still shouldn't...................

:P

For what it is worth, I would recommend going to the support group even if you are the only guy. I think my Saturday support group there are 2-3 guys and the rest women. Ok with me. I enjoy getting their perspective. We are on the same journey even though the room is filled with banders, sleevers and RNYers. There is a lot of good information shared by other WLS folks and, in my case, by the NUT and guest speakers. Sometimes to make a friend in this group setting dominated by women you have to be a friend. Take the first step...
