  1. Wow, five pages of you did the right thing or not.......Hey dude, it's not for you. We get it. It's really only your choice, so good luck with your future. Now.......back to those that are getting it........ Oh, and BTW......I got it done and didn't die......
  2. What really irritates me about MFP is that 5 week projection of your weight when you close it out each day.........I even started doing my bike riding every day to see if maintaining the same exercise would get me any where close to the results it projects.......ehhh.......didn't happen. Typical bogus propaganda. I still like keeping track by logging everything, but for me, losing the weight just takes a lot longer than their figures.
  3. I could actually stop right now as I am in size 34 pants which I haven't been in since High School and really never figured I ever see again. However, I still have what I call a bicycle tire (no more car spare tire) around my waist and I want to keep trying to get rid of it. It is mostly loose skin and will probably take plastics to remove, but what can it hurt. I lost most of my weight in the first 6 months as well, then I began hitting stalls or maybe just developed more muscle which slowed my actual weight lost considerably. The inches kept going down, just not the weight as quickly. I average about a pound a week if I'm lucky. I even went over 6 weeks with no weight loss, then lost 4 in three days. Go figure. Whatever, the pants just keep getting looser, so I'll take it as progress and to hell with the scale. I'm just using a goal of 195 lbs to challenge me to reach it, which makes me have to work harder.......which gets me in better shape.........it's all a win win. Besides I really want to see "onederland"
  4. Stick with it......It has taken me just as long to lose my last twenty pounds as the first 100. The stalls get longer and the effort to lose the last few gets harder. Step up your exercises......mix things up a bit, so your bod doesn't get used to things too much and stay at it.....You'll get there. We both will......
  5. That's what comes from getting used to our "right now" modern ways. Don't let the stall get to you. Trust in the "FACT" that if you stick with your program, you will resume losing and you will get to your goal......eventually. As in.....be patient. Look at is like alot of little triumphs......Each time you're pissed and frustrated when the stalls happen.....but then it feels great to see the weight start coming off again.
  6. My recipes for the puree stage was .......1.- throw it in the blender.......2 - eat it. 3.- don't look at it.
  7. Odd will be your new normal...... I used to put some tea in my glass of sugar......now I drink totally unsweetened tea & it tastes sweet to me.....hmmmm...odd. but it works for me
  8. I'd have to say that after sulking around in the background for so long because of obesity, I intend to get out and socialize more.
  9. Well, I'm one year today from my sleeve surgery. Not quite at my goal, but still a major accomplishment so far. I went from wearing 55 pants to 34's and XXL shirts to Mediums. From never stepping foot in a Gym to 2-3 times a week and riding my bicycle every night for about 10 miles. The stalls did start going longer and longer so I've had to step up the exercises to keep the weight coming off. I have been eating alot (between 100 to 200g) of Protein daily and that has really benefited me in my workouts and exercises. I have noticed a real increase in muscle and strength. I've already planned a spring snow skiing trip, (first one in about 8 years) so I now have added motivation to hit my goal weight mark. (And I WILL !!!) I've had many other surgeries (including replacing both knees, so I was prepared for the long haul. And while the other surgeries I had all provided me with great benefits.......nothing compares to the total exhilaration of getting close to my goal weight and all the changes of a healthy and energized body. So any of you out there that are bummed by stalls or tripping over occasional bouts of depression........Stay with it......think of the goal.....Keep up the effort......and you WILL get there and you too will get to enjoy this experience.

You know how to get the weight off.......so do what you have to do to get that 15lbs back off and then set a Zero tolerance barrier of no more then say.......2 pound leeway. - You see two pounds creep in....get it off right away. Don't let it slide.
  11. Protein bars
  12. Maybe you can't stop 'em from putting the question on some form but...... Even though it is a health form, It was not an illness. It was elective and it's none of their business......I'd leave it blank.
  13. OK, this is a easy one. If you're sure this is what you want........then Go to a different Nutritionists.
  14. As we all know, food comes in all shapes and sizes......and tastes (and numbers). It's all still "food" Now, of course, the trick is.....how much. No, you're not gonna gain weight......(that is as long as it was only one you popped one...and not the whole platter.) The deal is to try to monitor the "what" and the how much of the "what" as in counting all the nutrition values etc. As many others have suggested, I have used MyFitnessPal since my pre-op diet......Every day, every single thing that goes in my mouth. In maintaining daily goals, you'll learn to make better choices. Teeny amounts of useless, high calorie, low protein junk, just won't cut it anymore. So, don't fret the occasional venture to the "dark side" .........it's all part of the learning process.
  15. First, it's not my statement. I'm, by no means qualified. Second, I went to my PCP and had all the tests done and was using prescribed injections and monitored for replacement therapy. However, in a debate between my PCP or Endocrinologist and my Cardiologist........the Cardiologist wins every time. But hey, that's just me, and my needs might surely be different from others. To each their own.
  16. 1. - Check the internet in your area for Bariatric Surgeons that have seminars. 2.-- Go to one !
  17. I was using it until my Cardiologist heard about it and demanded I get off of it. Subsequently, I have read and heard a lot of data that warns of very severe side effects, including death. Be careful.......
  18. OK....here is one......SIXTY pounds is great.!!!!!!!!!.....all you need is to keep doing what you're doing.
  19. If you must pickup or carry, do it in a way that you move the weight onto your body and support it against you. Not leaning over and lifting with your muscles. Same with putting something down. Just use your body for support and avoid using muscles. You have alot of holes and internal stitches that can rip. Hindsight will be painful
  20. What did you do while waiting for surgery? Believe it or not, I kept eating as usual. In fact, I sought out junk that I figured I wouldn't be able to eat after the surgery. I had long since given up on any form of diet....... and any exercise was always short lived and useless if not just plain agonizing. So I didn't bother with any pre-op preparations. I just wasn't motivated because all my past experiences had shown me few lasting results. My mind was kind of in a ..... "wait and see if the surgery does any good" way of thinking. The surgery changed all that for me. From day one I could feel the changes. No hunger. The "eating too much" deterrent was truly there. The weight started coming off quickly. I was now "motivated". Big time. I had what I needed to change. So I did. Healthy foods, only exact portions, no more junk......... constant exercise. Whatever was called for, I was 100% on board now. You will be too. Enjoy the ride.
  21. And speaking for those that cannot........your horse thanks you !
  22. Forgot to add.......my local WLS support group is also - FREE -
  23. I agree with you. I just don't buy into the whole shrink knows all, but has nothing specific to share. I put much more credence in a group of peers that have been through or are going through the process. Real life experiences.
  24. recipes????? Throw the turkey in a blender ---- blend ----- spoon it in. There's really no way to make Puree appetizing. Thank the stars that it's over quickly.
  25. I see your in Colorado. What you need to do is - 1.go out in your back yard and gather up some firewood. 2.Place it in a pile and light it . 3.While it burns, circle the fire in a skipping dance with your hands raised to the sky. 4. Do this for about an hour or more. Or you could just go for a walk around the neighborhood for awhile....... often (I still like the fire dance better)
