    stall broke!

So happy for you both! I know that it will drive me crazy too, once I get there. It seems everyone hits a stall period. Hope you'll all be there for me when it's my turn!

    How to reassure my kids?

That's a tough one....I'd be in the same boat, if I told my children. I chose not to tell either one of my children exactly for this reason. They also watched a program with me about a 693 lb woman who had bariatric surgery & died within a month of complications. The last thing I'd do now is tell them but I have told my oldest son (17) that I'm having "hernia surgery." My 11 y/o son is autistic so I'm not going to worry him so far in advance (still have no surgery date) but I will tell him of the "hernia surgery" maybe just a few days prior to my sleeve surgery. With all that said, if my children DID find out in advance of my surgery plans, I was going to approach it with before & after pics of the wonderful people on this site that have shared their photo's with us. This way it's "visual" proof that not only did they not die from surgery but that they all looked so healthy in their "after" pics. We've learned to do a lot of visuals in my household due to my son. So that would be my suggestion, especially being that he's so young still. Pics might do the trick! Good luck to you! I'll be anxious to see what some other responses are!

    Postop Dehydration

Oh no honey....I'm so sorry to hear you're not doing too well, but wishing you a quick recovery! I will have to keep all the info I'm reading in the back of my mind for when I have my surgery. Good luck to you & let us know how you're doing.

    Sleeved and at home

Oh cool! I'm sorry, the way you said you had your surgery Wednesday & you were finally home...I thought it was last week! LOL! That was FAST! Good going! Best of luck to you!

    this.is.a.b*tch.!:(

Lee, your story just confirms my total belief in that everything happens for a reason. Devine intervention in your case took over! It will happen when it's supposed to happen! Good luck to you! I don't have a date yet either but I'm supposed to meet with my surgeon on April 26th. **Biting finger nails**

    I don't hate cottage cheese!

I'm pre-op & I eat cottage cheese now & love it. I sometimes have it for Breakfast with a teaspoon of sugar free jam mixed in. I've also had some halved green grapes in it or pineapple or applesauce. Since I'm Type 2 diabetic, I can't eat a regular plate of Pasta, so I've taken about 2 oz of angel hair or spaghetti with marinara & mixed in a couple heaping tablespoons of cottage cheese (sorta like a lasagna) to help fill me up without eating too many carbs. It's been good all the ways I've tried it so far.

Do you mean Wednesday, as in YESTERDAY or last week Wednesday? How wonderful that you're not having any issues! I pray I will be as fortunate as you! Congratulations on your new life!

Pre-Op diet to lose 5-10 pds

I have to lose 15 lbs & I really don't know HOW HOW HOW I'm going to do it. I'm trying tho. I'm just trying to do a low calorie & I'm drinking Water, water, water! I started filling out a food tracker on www.myfitnesspal.com & I do see that it is actually helping me! Sometimes I just don't realize what damage I do to myself by inadvertently snacking on something I really shouldn't be snacking on! Hope to find some good suggestions on your thread! Good luck to you (& me too!)
  9. Thank you for posting this, I enjoyed reading it, even tho I'm doing local surgery. Funny how doctors all do things differently. I will be on a liquid diet 1 week prior to surgery which makes me wonder how I'll do on it?? I won't be sleeved yet, so I'm going to have some major hunger pains going! LOL! I think it's wonderful you all kept in touch...you all went thru a life changing experience, so you all bonded! How is everyone else doing weight loss wise? Thank you for sharing your experience. It's an invaluable read for someone who hasn't gone thru it yet.

    How's the PAIN?

Exactly! That's why I was surprised to see that people had listed "gas-x" as an item to bring to the hospital to help with gas pain. It won't help for the gas pains that we'll have from the surgery. VivaDiva, I'm "allergic" to pain as well, so I am a bit nervous but I'm hoping it will be managable! Wishing the same for you!

    I have officialy been sleeved!

Good to hear that all went well! You're on your way to letting the thinner, healthier, more beautiful YOU out of that body! Sounds like you had a good experience! Keep us informed on your journey! I hope to be sleeved this summer some time.

2 months out and Taco Bell

Maybe, but that would be offset by the way I'd feel about my sexy looking body!

    Doctor is disappointed

Wow....seriously?? That seems like a huge weight loss in 9 weeks! Ask him what HE did wrong, if he thinks it's not enough!

2 months out and Taco Bell

Glad you enjoyed your treat. I have never been a fan of fast food (but I'm still morbidly obese), but I'm sure Taco Bell would be one of my fave places to hit, if I did eat fast food!

    1 more frustrated with cigna!

Yeah, that stinks. Thankfully its only a few more days though. I'm from NY & wouldn't want to live there again. I go to Atlanta on vacation to visit my BFF & to attend concerts since I have a great contact at Philips Arena, so it's always a good time when I go there. That's probably why I love it there. I lived in Los Angeles for 10 years & **loved** it but you need lots of $$$$$ to have a decent life there when you start a family. Now I'm in a Detroit suburb & hate it here. Working on moving in 2 to 3 years.....heading somewhere with NO SNOW! Good luck on your journey Will!
  20. My husband has funded all my past diet fads & has never said a word. When I brought up this surgery, he really wasn't for it at first, but he works for BCBS insurance, so he started doing research & had heard of many insurance customers having this procedure & after looking into it further, it's a covered benefit so it made my decision even sweeter. He has always been supportive of me, no matter what hair brained diet I was going to try. Altho, I've been a bit concerned because when I'm sick (which is rare), he acts like he's mad at me, so not sure what he'll be like as I'm recovering. I know he worries about the kids & if I can't care for them (we have an autistic son), because he's at work all day, but my oldest is 17 y/o now so it's a good time. I'm working it out to have the surgery in the summer time so it won't affect my kids school schedule & this way my husband won't have much to worry about. He knows how much I hate to go downtown & that's where the surgery will be, plus I'll have about 3 to 4 appts down there prior to surgery (everything else has been at our local hospital) & he has said that he'd take me. So he's planning time off to take me to my downtown appts, as well as taking a week off during my surgery, in case I need help when I return home (God willing.) So overall, he's being supportive. I think sometimes he acts "mad at me" when I'm ill because he's worried but who knows? I'm sure he's excited to have me look like the woman he met! I know I am!

    Pre pre-op diet

I'm thinking that the 1 week liquid pre-op diet will be the absolute WORST for me since I won't be sleeved yet, so I'll still have my normal appetite. PLUS I will still have to prepare food for my family! I just really don't know how I'm going to get thru this part of it. I try not to think about it but it's always in the back of my mind. My Bariatric liason tells me I should start either drinking decaf or mixing half decaf into my coffee now so I won't have to go thru caffeine withdrawl at the same time as not eating....but I just can't do it! I'm drinking MORE coffee to use up all my Gevalia coffee packages I purchased while on sale. I'm one of those super couponers, so I got them for like $3 a bag & I soooooo love that coffee. Personally, I think it's cruel to take coffee away but I do understand why. No one said this would be easy....

    1 more frustrated with cigna!

....and what upsets me is that someone drops the ball (the person who is getting PAID to take care of faxes), yet now YOU will have to wait an additional 5 business days due to THEIR employee who isn't doing their job. Big FAIL! Then again, my way of looking at things is that everything happens for a reason, so just hang tight (unless you want to contact a supervisor of that dept). It's only 5 more days. BTW, I just **LOVE** Atlanta!
  23. Good question! I love crunchy peanut butter!

    It's time!

Safe travels & a safe journey getting to the new healthy you! Flying to San Diego from where? Just a warning....after seeing San Diego, you may never want to return home!

    What you need list

Every hospital provides different items. Some more, some less. I would suggest to contact your Bariatric Program Manager or the Bariatric nurse, whomever is providing all the necessary classes, steps for you to go thru, if they could let you know what the hospital provides. I just did that yesterday in fact & this is the list Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit provides: We provide the patients with a toothbrush, tooth paste, soap, lotion, comb, triflow, kleenex, deodorant, socks (appropriate color/size), admission folder and a Bariatric lunch bag. I'll have to call back to ask what a Bariatric lunch bag is! LOL! Does anyone know?
