My surgery is tomorrow. I am a bit nervous to start a new life's journey at age 63. I am an only child and do not have any real sisters to confide in. So I would love for any of you to be my SLEEVE SISTERS.
I live in Louisiana and moved to a new city after Hurricane Katrina several years ago and left all my friends.
I pray I am doing the right thing.

I am 1 week out from surgery and feeling fine. Went for my first post-op appointment and was down 12 pounds. That is a total of 20 since my pre-op diet two weeks ago.
I am happy and look forward to some yogurt and Protein Shakes tomorrow.

I am tomorrow too. Praying for both of us. I am not a coffee drinker but I do or did love diet Root Beer.
I guess I am just afraid of the unknown but looking forward to becoming healthier.

Sorry u had to go through All that it soon will get better u well see ., I have mine coming up pn Thursday april 11 my bff hAd her sleeve dec 4th an she has lost 68 pounds so far but I hope u have a support group cause I have her she is going with me along with my honey for support ., just walk walk drink drink Water have sugar free Jello Popsicles and Protein Shakes and take all your Vitamins most important ., good luck on your journey

I am getting sleeved on April 17. Yes, I am scared too. I read posts on here and get brave, then I read others and question if I really want to do this.
I hope everything goes well with you and I hope we can get over the anxiety and realize that we will be ok. We have to put our lives in God's hands.
Keep in touch and we can compare notes.

I really need some SLEEVE SISTERS

We have a Facebook group for April 2013 sleevers. If anyone would like to join, please send me your e-mail address associated with your facebook and I'll send you an invitation to join. It's all secure and no one on your friend's list will be able to see that you're apart of the group, that the group exists, or any of the postings in the group.

I am sixty three and having VS surgery on APRIL 4th. I'm still having trouble with feeling nauseated after my Protein Drinks and have to have Jello or cream of wheat after drinking one. I need any advice please. Starting to freak out a little.

I had my sleeve surgery April 17, 2012 and have lost 80 lbs. I will be 65 on April 13th. This has been an incredible journey and I'm so glad I did it. Time flies by so quickly it's hard to believe it has been almost one year since my surgery. I followed the advise of my surgeon and NUT and didnt ave any complications or issues. I'm still losing weight although it is much slower weight loss. My hair did get thinner but is beginning to get thicker now. Push your self to make sure you get your Protein and calcium....and Water water and water. In the beginning and still now, I take a stool softener pill and Fiber pill daily which just helps make you feel more comfortable daily.

I do not plan to tell anyone other than my husband and children. I do not even want their spouses to know. I do too have a hernia under my navel but my doctor does not want to remove it at the same time as the sleeve. He even says I may not need to have it removed.
I do not want friends to keep asking why I will be losing weight so much faster than I have been able to lose for the past 10 years. They knew me when I was thin and hopefully they will just think I have finally been successful. I am so grateful to have all of my "new " friends on this page who know the struggles and heartaches we have been dealing with for many years.
As far as why I am eating so much less or not at all, I plan to say that I finally found a food plan that is making me lose weight using Protein shakes etc.
I will be sleeved in three weeks and I am nervous about what is to come. Yes, I would love to have my friends at my side as I know they would be BUT I am not ready to share this journey yet with them.

To all of you April Sleevers, stay strong! It is normal to be scared of the unknown. While waiting in preop I had thoughts of what am I doing! I had surgery on 3/19. I am starting on eggs and other soft stuff and realizing this is so worth it! I will be able to eat normal foods again just less. It is about making good food choices. I am SO happy I did this for myself.

Well, my mom is encouraging me but is 85 so she can not come.
I have not told any friends because of all the questions.
I am planning to tell my children on Easter sunday when they are both in my hometown.
I am in Louisiana and doing this as private pay. I am 63 years old and weigh 234 pounds and am 5 fee tall.
