  1. I live in Southern Maryland and I had my surgery with Dr. Barry greene at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital. I worked at Southern Maryland Hospital and I would not get my surgery done there. You need to go to a hospital that has dedicated bariatric staff like Shady Grove, GW, Georgetown or Inova Fairfax. You also need to go to a Bariatric Surgeon and not just a general surgeon.Dr. Greene and his staff are wonderful and the Hospital couldn't have been any more friendly and caring.
  2. Hang in there. It's too bad the insurance companies don't get if we could do this by ourselves we would already have done it. I didn't need the six months of documentation but I did give it one more try with diet and exercise before finally getting banded. I did loose around 50 pounds but I gained it back (Imagine that!). Your journey will be worth all you have to go through. I am just beginning but I already feel that way.
  3. Hi Connie, Thank you for your reply. I am having some restricition especially in the morning. I think I eat too fast sometimes and don't chew enough because I have had some vomiting after eating. Sometimes things get stuck and I burp alot and I have no other choice but to vomit to feel better. I don't think it is because I am too restricted because sometimes I have no problems eating. I am still hungry alot in the evenings too. I have another fill in about 2 weeks. I live in Maryland and it has been a great weekend. Linda
  4. Annie, I had to do liquids for 2 weeks post-op and then did mushies for 2 weeks. My doctor was very precautious. Also how many grams of protein and carbs are you getting in. We had to do 70 gr of Protein and 30 of carbs. If you still feel sluggish at 30 carbs you can go up to 50. If you aren't getting in enough carbs you do feel sluggish. Are you drinking protein shakes to get your protein in. If you need to drink an extra one do it. Hang in there. Call your doctor if your not feeling right. That is what he's there for! Hope this helps. Linda W.
  5. :nervousHi to everyone, I was banded on April 11 by Dr. Barry Greene at Shady Grove Hospital. I had my first fill of 4cc about 2 and a half weeks ago. I have lost 27 pounds since my pre-op liquid diet started. It is going slow but it is going.
