bandicootc got a reaction from Dannipo in Help! Less than 3 weeks away & STILL undecided!
I was so fearful I remember sitting in the hospital bed and just wondering what in the heck am I about to do to myself. I was so fearful that there was no going back, and no way to undo what I was doing to my body. But just before the surgery the nurse came to talk to me and he had actually been sleeved year earlier with his wife. He started to talk to me about all the blessings that came his way and all the health benefits that he was experiencing the better relationship with his wife and activities he was able to do. And then he showed me a picture of himself from before where he was so morbidly obese, and so sick looking that he looked like he would make it many more years. That got me started thinking that I may not be able to do what I was about to do to my body, but I also couldn't undo death and I couldn't get back years lost with my children and all the fun things that I can share with them if I didn't make myself better. It was in that moment that I knew there was no turning back, my mind was set! Even after getting hepatic vein thrombosis postsurgery and being in the hospital with such pain that I felt like I was dying, I still have had no regrets. My time with my family has been extended, my quality of life has been improved, and I feel good about myself for the first time in years!

Today was really exciting. I ran my first 5k in 37 minutes. Slower than my usual because of herding issues at the paint stations. Yes I said paint. It was the neon splash dash. What fun and what a victory.
First is me in August of 2012, second is me after, and third is me in the middle before the race.

They have little sizer clips you can buy for cheap. You buy it and clip it on. Sizes you down a bit.

There are two kinds. Rubber cheap and temporary and the metallic semi permanent ones that are more expensive. I like the look of the metal better. I got mine at fast fix a jewelry repair place in the mall.

I never considered that my feet would get smaller. Clothing makes sense, but I keep having to buy shoes as my feet shrink. WTH?

I had hypoparathyroidism post total thyroidectomy surgery. It was the most miserable two years of my life. I had to carry around bottles and bottles of pills just make it through the day. Calcium, calcitriol, Vitamin D, magnesium, thyroid medication etc. You don't realize how much you need those little suckers until they stop working. You're very right not to take the removal of your parathyroids lightly. Most people can survive off of half of one parathyroid production, but that's not everybody. Being low on calcium makes you miserable. You can't speak normally, you can't think normally, your muscles spasm, you tremble, And your fingers and skin "tingle". I put that in quotes because it feels more like the underlining of your skin is on fire all the time. I recommend getting a second opinion especially if you're doing something as permanent as removing them completely.

Thanks everyone!! Did natural bridge caverns today. Lots of climbing steep slopes. I huffed and puffed a few times but heck so did everyone else. I also did this mostly because I wanted more time with my kids.

Holla! Went to Sea World today with my family. We were there from open until close with my sons (3 & 6 year olds). It's amazing how miserable walking around was 67 pounds ago. Today I could walk around with no problem. I fit on all the rides, even the kid ones, and in all of the chairs. Heck I even fit in the bathroom stall. So amazing. There was a dance party at the end for the kids and I danced the whole time with boundless energy even after having walked around and chased kids for almost 12 hours. This is awesome. I attached two photos. One from today and one from our last vacation in August.
