    MOBD got a reaction from jbgirl5856 in 7 months post-op! Before/After Picture
You look gorgeous! I'm so glad I read your post tonight. I'm 15 days post op and had a meltdown tonight...just feel like I won't ever recover and feel good again. It will be all worth it if I can have a success like yours! I started at 221, 5'2" tall. After 15 days I'm at 201 and have lost 2 inches in my waist already. My goal is to be about your size...which is the size I was in my early 20's.
Your success gives me hope! Thanks so much for posting!!

MOBD got a reaction from Butterthebean in Stall and now gain three weeks in
It's amazing that it seems like just about everyone has a 3 week stall. Mine lasted about a week. I tried getting more fluids but I am not sure it matters. I think it's your body chemistry adjusting after the surgery...just my thoughts. I started losing again in the 4th week. Don't worry too much about it!

MOBD got a reaction from latina1974 in Attention Stomach Sleepers!
I am 3 weeks and 5 days post op. FINALLY, last night I was able to sleep on my stomach again. It took just that long for the persistent pain in my left side at the stomach removal incision to finally go away and allow me to lay peacefully on my tummy.
Just wanted to let all the stomach sleepers know...you will eventually be back in your favorite sleeping position!
Also, I'm off all pain meds now and don't need the compression garment around my belly. I feel like a normal person again.
So for me, it's been about a 3 1/2 week route to pretty much full recovery.
One more bit of advice. I only took 1 week of work off to recover because I don't have a demanding job. I recommend 2 weeks. I really needed two weeks, because of the fatigue I felt from change of diet and recovery I guess. I was very worn out for the first two weeks.
I love that I did this for myself. It is so very cool to be able to eat like this and not feel starving like I used to when I tried to diet!! So happy!

MOBD got a reaction from angela3472 in How are you able to drink all the liquid they recommend?
I am almost 3 weeks post op...surgery 3/12. I just cannot drink all the fluids they want you to drink. I'm lucky if I get 40 oz in a day. That's Protein Shakes and Water...everything. I do eat a couple of sugar free popsicles everyday. I just can't figure out how you are able to drink 60 oz of liquids. I have something with me all the time but my stomach just can't take that much Fluid. I don't think I'm dehydrated...urine is pale yellow, so I'm not really worried about that. I just know that the more fluid the better right?
I've lost 22 lbs since surgery, so I'm doing ok. I just keep judging myself and trying to meet the goals that the doctor has recommended...
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I had a hard time with that the first couple months. I am about 3 1/2 months out and it has gotten much easier. I use crystal light and lots of ice. Hang in there....it gets better and easier.

You just need to keep working in it! It's kinda like a full time job... But an important one! try to up it a bit everyday. I've seen so many people end up back in the hospital just for dehydration!
Some people fill a shot glass and drink it every ten minutes . But I don't know that sounds a little tedious to me.

It will get easier in the next few weeks. I found that I can drink more Vitamin Water zero than plain Water, and initially warm liquids were easier. The further I got from surgery, the more I was able to drink, Now I can get in at about 80oz. a day, if not more. Keeping a bottle with you , if you are able, always helps.
Congratulations, you are doing so well!!

It is hard to meet Water goals in the beginning, especially before 3-4 months. It just hurts too much to drink faster then sips and like Laura says, drinking Water is a full time job. However, it gets easier as the months go by.
Start out drinking to a schedule and try to meet mini goals during the day. For me, my goals were really small in the first couple weeks. I was just trying to get through 2 ounces every hour. After you are in liquids phase, try and empty 3 blender cups a day. By solids at 5-6 weeks, try and hit 64 ounces ( 32 ounces by afternoon and 32 ounces by evening). At 3-4 months, try and make sure you can drink 90 ounces a day. This usually happens by trying to get through 32 ounces in between the 3 major meals.
The point is that increasing water intake is progressive over a long period of time. You want to be able to drink a lot of water a few months out in order to meet hydration needs from flushing toxins out of the body (translates into faster weight loss) and also to meet hydration needs for during and after exercising.
Add flavor to your water as soon as you can. It will make drinking water much much easier. Water was really hard to drink plain for me until month 6. I still flavor my water every day with Desani drops. Other posters like a variety of different types of water enhancers. It just tasted weird plain, lots of strong minerals in every type of water I tried, from tap water to Fuji water. Just could not do it without flavor.
At 9 months now, I think my daily water intake is 120+ ounces. Sure I spend a few extra times in the bathroom during the day, but it is worth it from all the benefits from staying well hydrated.

MOBD got a reaction from TES in 5 days post op and worried-feeling horrible.
I am 15 days post op. I returned to work after a week and I believe it was too soon for me. I've continued to have pain and nausea. In fact, I'm going in to see my doctor this afternoon. I just have this terrible pain on the left side where they removed the stomach. Even the pain medicine doesn't stop the pain. I know other people who haven't had so much pain and I think I've learned that everyone is different. If I had it to do over again, I'd take 2 full weeks off of work to recover. I do think i've pushed myself and maybe that has slowed down my recovery. Good luck and get plenty of rest!

It's crazy to read all of these posts now since I'm 11 months out. I had the same pain and no one else did at the time. I couldn't understand why I was so different than everyone else. I was in pain for at least a month. The incision on my left side was so painful. I couldn't cough sneeze or laugh without it hurting something terribly. The best advice I can give you is to move around as much as you can without being in too much pain. I think I may have babied myself too much not knowing how much I should or shouldn't do, & was scared to hurt myself.

I was sleeved march 13th. And I have the same pain. I asked about it when I went for my 1 week post op. he said it was my spleen shrinking. And that they cut blood vessels during surgery. And the spleen pain would go away in up to 6 weeks. Sorry your going through this I feel your pain.
