    Post surgery depression/anxiety

I turned the tv when a food commercial came on...I was a lucky one - no cravings or anything at the beginning..find something to keep your attention - read, write, draw...do something other than think of the food..I know it is really, really hard, but you can do it. Also, work on your basics... walk, drink your Water, work on your Protein....those things will help. It does get easier each day. Hang in there. Give it time. Best of luck to you! Take care!

    Wow are we adults?

I thought about leaving the site when I was slammed on boards & private messages about my regret, but then, I thought about...One, if my story helps one person, I should stay. Second, I won't give those certain posters the satifisfaction of leaving....I teach middle school - a few of them remind me of my immature, rude students with the things that they have the nerve to say to others & even laugh about saying to others with other negative posters. And lastly, and most importantly, where I do have true regret - I do need the support from those that are kind and understanding. Hope everyone above that mentioned leaving - stay, ladies & gentleman! Stay for you!
  5. Aussie - Hang in there. You are here posting - you haven't given up...You may feel like you have lost a battle, but that doesn't mean you are going to lose the war. Fall down seven times, get up eight. You can do this! I know it is hard, very hard, but your health & well-being are worth fighting for...I hear you on the family function...enjoy yourself the best you can. Don't pay any attention to all the rude crap on here...some people on here remind me of my middle school students with their rude comments...ignore....just scroll to the posts that give you support and help. You have lots of people rooting for you...take strength fromo those positive vibes & tomorrow is a new day... Best of luck to you! Take care! Best of luck to you!

    100 pounds

Before surgery, in my past, I lost 100 lbs 3 different times (regained each time) with WW and exercise ....it feels awesome! I just allowed myself to get lazy about all the things I did to lose the weight. I plan on maintaining this time around. Best of luck to you!!

    105 pounds down!

    Congrats! You look great!
  8. You are NOT a failure. I think you need to keep your dr appt. Talk to your dr/nut about what is going on. Go back to the basics - up your Protein, get your Water in, walk (or whatever you do for exercise), take your vitamins/meds, write down every bite you take, weigh only once a week...you can do this! We all have those moments when we feel like we are failing, not doing like we should, etc etc...fall down seven times, get up eight, as the saying goes. Best of luck to you! Take care!
  9. I haven't. I am only 8 weeks out. A good friend of mine had gastric bypass several years ago; she has gained/lost/gained/lost. She is still continually 'dieting' just like before surgery. I hope I don't end up that way, but if a person doesn't change their lifestyle/food relationship...I can see it happening easily.
  10. I told mine I was back on Weight Watchers & hitting the gym again. I told them 'female' surgery - and they let it go for the most part. I would advise anyone to keep it private. Once you tell someone - there's no taking it back & people can be mean, intentionally and unintentionally. Do what is best for you!

Congrats on your weight loss! 23 is great!
  13. I feel a little better each day, but I don't feel like myself yet. I am 8 weeks out. I haven't been out to eat yet with friends or family. I have eaten around family at my dad's house, but just a few instances. Best of luck to you! Time makes it better - I hope!

    Always being a 'big guy'

I have always been either the 'tall girl' when I was thin & or the 'big, tall girl' when I had weight on me...I think the label will stick...I am 5'10"...and the very least I want to weigh is 165, 175 would be fine with me...I am the big, tall girl & I am finally comfortable in my own skin. Guys are lucky in many ways about such matters. I know I like a guy 6'3" or taller...and I like big guys. I did when I was 'skinny' years ago & still do now. Just like yourself & be comfortable with yourself! Best of luck to you!

    Wow are we adults?

I started a thread called Manners Matter awhile back for this very reason you mentioned. If I was techno, I would move it back up, but I am very untechno. I got slammed because I chose to speak up about my true regret for having wls & then, a few weeks later...I read a couple of posts to a lady who had suffered terrible complications that were very uncalled for and another post to a guy who was really struggling post-op that were downright rude...those posts made me very upset. I ended my Manners Matter post with exactly what you said your mom told you, 'if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all.' ...now I pretty much know the names of those who are so rude & negative ....I just don't read their posts at all. I am here for support not their mean, ugly comments. I try to ignore them as best I can.

    regrets

Hang in there. Water, walk, and protein...as much as you can & make yourself if you have to. I felt a million times better the week I was able to have a scrambled egg, toast, and Peanut Butter. You will feel better in time. I am eight weeks out, and I am still not myself. But each day does get better, I promise. Don't pay any attention to any negative comments, etc from anyone ...just scroll on down to something more supportive or helpful. Best of luck to you. Take care!

    Why be negative

I hear you on the negative...I just skip such posts & go on to more supportive and helpful posts. I didn't notice how long how you have been on this site...I joined in February before my surgery. I pretty much recognize the continually rude, disrespectful, nonsupportive, and very negative people's screen names now....I don't even read their posts or private messages...I just skip on to the next. This site is to help people not hurt people, in my opinion. I wish you the best of luck. Do what is best for you. Take care!

    So depressed

fran25 & djchase...I, too, suffer from deep, deep regret from having this surgery. However, it is not reversible. I am learning to live with my terrible decision every day. My heart breaks for everybody that regrets it. I thought I was ready & did everything for nearly a year to get ready...but nobody truly knows how they will really feel about surgery till it is over. All you can do now is take yourself, inside and out, and try to find some peace with your decision.. just know you are not alone. On a more positive note, it does get somewhat better each day. I am 8 weeks out now...I just keep trying to see the good in a bad situation. Walking, Water, and Protein are very critical right now - do it, even if you don't feel like it - make yourself. Once I was able to eat a scrambled egg & toast - I felt like a new woman. So, it does get somewhat easier in some ways. Just take it day by day. If you ever need to talk, send me a message. I really understand where you are coming from...I really do. Best of luck to you.
  22. Just hang in there. It gets better. When I was able to eat a scrambled egg & even just some peanut butter, I felt so much better. Best of luck to you!

    Suggestions on what to eat?

Chicken, fish, refried beans...whatever you eat, try to get in the protein. You may need to check in with your dr/nut. Good luck! I am 8 weeks out, too....I struggle to drink still. Wishing you the best!
