3rd Day of Pre-Op diet
Kimmy1813 replied to vinniej3's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wish I was taking in 750 calories a day....my pre-op diet is for the dang birds. I'm getting less than 500 calories a day and only like 25 grams of protein....I just don't see how that's a good thing:( -
3rd Day of Pre-Op diet
Kimmy1813 replied to vinniej3's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, I'm getting 60-80 oz of water a day and that doesn't include the water that is mixed with my carnation. I'm feeling okay today, just tired. -
It stormed, but nothing bad at my house....I work in Okmulgee and there were some tree limbs and stuff down in the streets, so I guess they got some of what y'all got there.
-
The carnation is what I'm required to drink unfortunately....I even asked my NUT if I was allowed to add some unflavored Protein powder to it and she said absolutely not. I don't like the idea of going two weeks with really no protein to speak of. That seems ridiculous to me. But I'm going to push through it

3rd Day of Pre-Op diet
Kimmy1813 replied to vinniej3's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is day two for me. Yesterday was terrible...I just felt bad and had the worst headache. Felt better when I got up this morning, but now the headache is coming back. Two weeks of this is going to be torture:( -
My bariatric doc passed away :'(
Kimmy1813 replied to EmilyCarr's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So sorry:( -
I'm doing a little better today than yesterday. I was so cranky and couldn't imagine how I was going to get through 2 weeks of this, if I could barely get through one day
-
I'm August 6th as well and have started my liquid diet today. Mine consists of 4 or 5 no sugar added carnation instant breakfast drinks (one can be made with skim milk, the rest have to be made with water), sugar free gelatin, sugar free popsicles, and water....I'm also allowed one cup (8 oz) of decaf coffee or tea each day. The day before surgery, I am allowed broth instead of the carnation drinks. Two weeks of this....so jealous of those who get an actual meal during their pre-op diet

Sorry, I just saw this. I had to see the bariatric doctor and weigh once a month....I had to have 7 visits in 6 months before my paperwork could be submitted for approval. I started January 2nd and my last appt was July 2nd. I also had two visits with a NUT...not sure if this was my insurance requirement or the clinic requirements. I had to have all the other testing too, such as sleep study, EKG, etc.

Will the excitment still be there after 6 months?
Kimmy1813 replied to nnegrete329's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I haven't gotten discouraged because the 6 months have actually went by really fast. I start my two week liquid diet tomorrow (ALL liquid), so you might want to check back with me about the discouragement -

Kimmy1813 replied to nnegrete329's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I had to do the six month diet thing too....my surgery is August 6th. I think I've actually gotten more excited the closer I get -
Oh, man, if mine go down like that, I'm going to miss them
-
Dr's office just emailed me...they got my insurance approval....YAY!!!!
-
Congrats!
-
Did your NUT not say anything about this? I start my pre op liquid diet Tuesday and my NUT said I am only allowed one cup (8 oz.) of DECAF each day on it.
-
I'm August 6th, as well
-
We're probably better off buying our own shakes. From some of the posts I've read, it seems like they are pretty expensive when you have to buy them from your surgeon's office.

**IF YOU STILL HAVE YOUR GALL BLADDER PAY ATTENTION****
Kimmy1813 replied to ImLooznit's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery is scheduled for August 6th and my surgeon said he will only take my gallbladder out at the same time IF it looks really bad. Otherwise, it will stay in and yes there will be a possibility of it needing to be removed later on. However, he doesn't want to increase the time I have to be under anesthesia and increase the chances of complications, just to remove my gallbladder. -
Good luck, Terri

August 6th, pending insurance approval....paperwork was submitted yesterday....fingers crossed

Anesthesia for the 1st Time
Kimmy1813 replied to arizonalp's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
My first dealings with anesthesia were during my EGD last month and I was terrified. I know that obviously there is a difference between it and the sleeve surgery....for the EGD, I was only out for a very short period, but I had a really good experience with it. I remember being wheeled to the room and then I was waking up in recovery. That has made me feel a little better about my upcoming surgery. I'm hoping my experience with the anesthesia for it goes over as well -
TODAY IS MY ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY!
Kimmy1813 replied to dar1983's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Congrats! You look great!!! -
I have eaten cottage cheese for years....love the stuff. Sometimes I eat it with black pepper and other times I will eat it with either peaches or pineapple. Yummy!!

I'm still pre-op (surgery scheduled for August 6th), but they told me earlier this week that I will not be able to lift anything over 15 lbs for 6 weeks. So, it sounds pretty common. I am sorry for you and your baby though; that has to be terrible for both of you
-
I'm still pre-op but my Vitamin D level was 11 in February, so I've been on 50,000 IU, once a week, since then. Hopefully, your numbers get better in another couple of months.
